Chapter 103 Interrogating Him

Chapter 103 Interrogating Him

When I opened my eyes again, I could already see the sunlight outside the window.

Lan Wu felt as if her eyelids weighed a ton, opening them briefly before quickly closing them again. Only when the scene she had just witnessed slowly resurfaced in her mind did she open her eyes again.

This is Taichen Palace.

She looked very refreshed, which meant she had been treated with medication.

He tried to get up by supporting himself on the bed with both hands, but his back ached as if he had been beaten with a wooden stick, and his legs were weak and even trembling slightly.

Chu Mingheng is really amazing. Every time, he manages to leave her, who has been learning to dance since childhood, completely exhausted.

However, she hasn't jumped over it in a long time.

Just then, she heard the sound of the palace door being opened. Without thinking too much, she fell back onto the bed, curled up to the inside, and pretended to be asleep with her back to the outside.

The footsteps drew closer and finally stopped beside the tatami mat.

After waiting for a long time without hearing any other sounds, Lan Wu's breathing became erratic. Then she heard a soft thud by the bed and Chu Mingheng calling her.

Lan Wu was pulled over.

She opened her eyes, intending to bar her teeth and claws to scare the person in front of her away, but when she opened her mouth, her voice was so hoarse that she couldn't utter a single word.

He coughed twice, and a cup of warm water was handed to him.

Lan Wu took it, finished drinking it, coughed a few times, and made a gesture with her weak hand as if to push the person away.

Her hand was gently grasped, and instead of being able to push the person away, she was kissed.

Chu Mingheng held her in his arms and said, "I've already had the female physician come and check on her. It's nothing serious. Her throat is a little sore, but she doesn't need to take any medicine. She should eat light meals for the next few days."

Lan Wu remained silent, her face tense as she turned her head away.

"Awu," Chu Mingheng called her again.

Lan Wu stubbornly tried to speak, but her voice was still hoarse. She insisted on saying it, which sounded pitiful: "Why are you calling me?"

"You call me... so I have to answer you? Why should I—you didn't answer when I called you..."

"You even built Yilan Palace underground. You think you're so tough? Do you want to lock me up for life?"

At this point, Lan Wu coughed again, opened her swollen eyes suspiciously, and glanced back at Chu Mingheng: "Why do you insist on locking me up?"

If you say Chu Mingheng was afraid she would run away, then what could he be afraid of? She only went to Jinghua Palace without saying goodbye today.

Having just woken up, Lan Wu was too preoccupied with venting her anger to think of anything else.

She groped for a pillow on the couch, then struggled to lift it and smashed it against Chu Mingheng: "You shameless woman! You know how to call her a female physician, why don't you call her an imperial physician? Tell the Imperial Hospital to spread the word about how you bullied me—"

"Alright, if Awu wants, I'll call the imperial physician to examine you." Chu Mingheng said nonchalantly, gently tossing aside the pillow that Lanwu had thrown into his arms. He then hugged Lanwu back, looking at her face flushed with anger, but not wanting to hurt her, he quickly said, "I was just talking nonsense."

Lan Wu was soft all over, and she had a woman's fragrance. When he held her, Chu Mingheng always felt a sense of satisfaction and security, making him reluctant to let go.

No matter how reluctant he was, Lan Wu would force him to give up.

Lan Wu broke free from his embrace, looked him over seriously, and before she could even speak, her stomach growled.

"I think A-Wu must be hungry. I'll have someone help you get up—" He paused suddenly, his gaze drifting to Lan Wu's legs. "You don't have to get up. Just wash up and have something to eat."

Having said that, he went out to call for help.

Lan Wu angrily smacked the bedding.

The one who came in to serve was Mu Jin.

Mu Jin said she had been at Tai Chen Palace for three days.

Lan Wu's hand trembled, and she dropped the handkerchief into the basin.

Chu Mingheng stood by the screen, quietly watching this scene. Although he did not speak, the atmosphere was heavy, and Mu Jin did not dare to speak either.

Three days?

Three days—that's it, no wonder she remembered that Chu Mingheng fed her in the middle of the day. How could he not feed her? If she hadn't eaten, she probably wouldn't have had the strength to continue.

Lan Wu closed her eyes, calmed herself down and finished washing up. Then she saw a palace maid enter the hall and set up a low table on the soft couch.

Chu Mingheng approached and picked her up in his arms.

Lan Wu still didn't speak to him, and ate the light dishes on the table in a proper manner. She was very hungry, so she ate slowly. After she finished eating and drinking, she glanced at Chu Mingheng again and realized that Chu Mingheng hadn't eaten.

“I had lunch at noon, before you woke up.” Chu Mingheng seemed to know what she was thinking.

Lan Wu said "oh" and waited until only the two of them were left in the hall before she instructed Chu Mingheng to put her in the small study in the side room.

"What are you going there for? The chair is hard, you won't be comfortable sitting there. Let's go to the bed instead." Chu Mingheng refused, saying he was going to take her to the bed, but his feet were waiting for her to speak.

Lan Wu shook her head: "Go there, or just let go of me and I'll walk there myself."

Having a little darling, whether or not one can get out of bed is another matter.

Chu Mingheng carried her away.

Lan Wu sat on a chair padded with soft pillows, which still made her uncomfortable, but she didn't show any discomfort. She just stared at Chu Mingheng with a serious expression.

Are they going to interrogate him?

Chu Mingheng slowly turned this thought over in his mind, then brought over a chair and sat down opposite Lan Wu.

He had a nonchalant expression and nimble movements. He was much taller than Lan Wu, and even sitting opposite her, his imposing presence was not diminished at all. At first glance, it was hard to tell who was interrogating whom.

Lan Wu swallowed hard, not intimidated by his words. She pinched her fingers and asked him, "You said it would only last one day, but today is the third day."

Chu Mingheng knew it was Mu Jin who said it.

"The first day was at night when I brought you here. We agreed that one day would be a whole day, so I carried you out last night. You slept soundly until just now. I didn't take up a single minute of your time."

That seems to make sense.

Lan Wu asked again, "Why are you afraid I'll run away? I've been here the whole time; I can't walk through walls or disappear underground. You're being strange."

She looked at Chu Mingheng with a suspicious gaze. She had wanted to ask him before, but Chu Mingheng wouldn't tell her.

One small hall was normal enough, but the 'Yilan Hall' in the underground secret chamber was obviously not normal. She was so frightened when she first saw it that she thought she would be locked up by Chu Mingheng for life. Fortunately, it was only for a day.

"Besides, when did you have someone repair that kind of place? I had no idea."

"And you've gone too far! All day long you've been—"

Lan Wu angrily kicked his leg. She wasn't wearing shoes, her toes were rounded, her ankles were thin, and her feet were small. It was obvious that she didn't have much strength. When she kicked Chu Mingheng, it didn't seem like she was venting her anger, but rather like she was being coquettish.

Chu Mingheng smiled, lifted her foot and placed it between his legs, then leaned down slightly to get closer to her. Before she could start struggling, he answered her question.

"The secret room has always existed, but it has never been used. It was only a month ago that it was renovated to its current state."

"Still don't like it?"
