Chapter 110 Cat
Chu Mingheng naturally saw Lan Wu's expression, lowered his eyes and watched quietly for a while, then suddenly turned his head away.
Although a cat may not seem like much, such a soft yet sharp-clawed and inhuman creature could easily capture Lan Wu's heart.
Can't you see that she doesn't even care about him anymore?
Lan Wu was taken aback by his reaction. She stopped petting the cat and just kept looking at it, feeling a little regretful.
At this moment, Yi Zhen smiled and turned around, beckoning to someone behind her: "Miss Lin, come here."
Upon hearing this, Miss Lin, who had been called out, slowly stepped forward from behind the crowd.
Lan Wu then noticed that she was also holding a cat in her arms. Unlike the black cat in Princess Yi Zhen's arms, the cat she was holding was a small cat with snow-white fur, but with pointed ears and dark blue eyes, like deep sea ice.
Lin Lianran stepped forward carrying the cat, which lazily yawned, appearing playful, cute, lively, and affectionate.
Yizhen said, "These two cats were delivered together. If Your Majesty likes one, please choose one."
Upon hearing this, Lin Lianran glanced timidly at Lan Wu, then at Yi Zhen, before finally lowering her eyes to pick up the cat and step forward.
Although Lan Wu liked them, she still remembered Chu Mingheng's reaction. She guessed that he didn't like cats. Besides, both cats belonged to Princess Yizhen, so how could she take them?
So I just gently stroked the cat's head, running my fingers along its smooth, fluffy fur all the way down its back.
"How could I possibly take away the princess's beloved?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the white cat leaned forward and pressed its head against Lan Wu's palm.
Yizhen said nonchalantly, "Your Majesty is overthinking it. Keeping just one pretty cat is fine; if there are too many, they'll fight over it."
Lan Wu thought that this made sense, so she turned her head and looked at Chu Mingheng again.
Chu Mingheng seemed lost in thought, his head still tilted to the side, looking out of the pavilion. While they were discussing names, Chu Mingheng showed no reaction whatsoever.
Lan Wu stepped forward, went around to a different direction, and blocked Chu Mingheng's view.
She stood there silently, her stubborn yet coquettish demeanor only understood by Chu Mingheng.
A moment later, Chu Mingheng clicked his tongue impatiently.
It wasn't that he was impatient with Lan Wu, but rather that he was truly impatient with Yi.
He reached out and pulled Lan Wu back to sit in a chair, while glancing at Yi Zhen with obvious disdain in his eyes.
I don't know if they disliked her or the cat she brought.
"Which one do you like?" Chu Mingheng asked Lan Wu, looking down at her.
Lan Wu pointed to the white cat and said happily, "It's so well-behaved, His Majesty will like it too."
"Bring it over here and let me see."
Lin Lianran then picked up the white cat and carried it forward. She seemed a little nervous, perhaps because it was the first time she had seen the emperor's face, and she slowed her pace even more.
Just as she thought she could get one step closer, the cat in her arms broke free and jumped onto Lan Wu's lap.
Everyone present was astonished.
I initially thought something bad was going to happen when I saw the cat struggling, but to my surprise, the cat was quite sensible, as if it knew who its future master was.
Lan Wu was undoubtedly the most excited one.
She gently held the white cat on her lap and leaned forward to show Chu Mingheng: "Your Majesty, look, it likes me."
Chu Mingheng glanced at the cat indifferently, then looked at Lan Wu who was holding the cat, and said softly, "Take it back and raise it, you're bored anyway."
"If that's the case, why don't you give these two cats names, Your Majesty?" Yi Zhen also stepped forward, carrying the black cat.
Lin Lianran had no choice but to step back, and reluctantly raised her eyes to look at the cat in Lan Wu's arms.
Today, while visiting Princess Yizhen's villa, these two cats were brought over. Princess Yizhen saw that she liked the white cat and let her hold it. She had thought that she could ask for it back when she left, but now that's impossible.
Then she looked at Lan Wu.
I had long heard that Consort Zhen was favored by the emperor, and that she was beautiful and gentle. However, no one talked about her background. After all, everyone knew that Consort Zhen was originally a dancer. Now that she had won the emperor's favor, no one would want to make a fool of themselves by talking about the background of the emperor's favorite concubine all day long.
Now that I've actually met her, she is indeed beautiful, but her words and actions are a bit unruly.
And Your Majesty…
She looked at the person in the seat.
Chu Mingheng shook his head slightly, not caring at all, and said: "Why do you want me to name your cats? If I really have to name them, one will be called Mowan and the other Yungao, since they both like to eat something."
Yi Zhen's lips twitched, and she couldn't smile anymore.
Lan Wu, however, thought it was good.
"Yun Gao? Yun Gao is a nice name, it suits it well." Lan Wu herself also likes to eat Yun Gao.
She was very satisfied, holding the cat in her arms and calling out "Yun Gao".
Yizhen stopped herself. What ink pill? She thought it was just that her brother was too lazy to pay attention to her.
Although cloud cakes look plump, they are actually just thick-skinned and don't weigh much when lifted alone.
But Chu Mingheng was displeased to see Lan Wu clinging to him and refusing to let go, so he turned his gaze away and glanced at Mu Jin.
Feeling immense pressure, Mu Jin had no choice but to step forward and whisper, "Your Highness, please take the cat away and give it some water."
Upon hearing this, Lan Wu released her grip and let Mu Jin take Yun Gao away.
"It's getting late. Why don't you and Your Majesty have dinner at the estate? You can also try the cooking of the chef at my estate."
Chu Mingheng looked at Lan Wu and casually said, "Ask her."
Lan Wu naturally wanted to stay a little longer, since it was not easy for her to leave the palace once in a while.
She nodded: "Thank you for your hospitality, Princess."
When we came down from the mountain, it was noticeably darker, and the sun was about to set. Fortunately, the villa wasn't far, and we arrived in no time.
Princess Yizhen instructed people to send the young ladies back to their residences. Turning around, she saw Chu Mingheng leading Lan Wu directly into the villa without any politeness.
There's no need to be polite.
The servants respectfully led them through the main hall and sat down temporarily in the flower hall.
As night fell, Lan Wu felt a bit cold. She picked up a handkerchief and covered her face, feeling as if she were about to sneeze.
But the surroundings warmed up quickly, and soon Princess Yizhen arrived as well.
As she entered, she said, "It's a pity it's too late to see today, otherwise we could have gone to Red Maple Garden for lunch at noon, wouldn't that be wonderful?"
Lan Wu didn't say anything, but held the teacup to warm her hands.
Chu Mingheng, however, was not polite: "Your estate is quite nice. Although I don't come here often, it has everything you need for entertainment. Every now and then, I send out invitations to people looking for someone to visit with. You even know how to be elegant."
Princess Yizhen broke out in a cold sweat and quickly replied, "Your Majesty, I only invited a few friends over today because I had some free time and the weather was nice. I will definitely reflect on my actions in the future."
Chu Mingheng stopped talking and calmly sipped his tea.
