Chapter 199 Planting Trees
Lan Wu tiptoed on the ground like a thief; if it weren't for the many pebbles on the road, she would have taken off her shoes.
Once she had walked a little further away, she stood outside and carefully observed what was happening inside.
Although it is a bamboo house, and you can't see clearly inside from the outside, you can still vaguely see its shadow.
Lan Wu watched with great interest, standing on tiptoe to peer and try to see more clearly.
Has Chu Mingheng started looking for her?
Thinking that he had been searching inside for a long time without finding anyone, Lan Wu smiled even more happily.
Let Chu Mingheng feel free to grope her inside. Who told him to lose the chess game? He used to bully her so much, now she's going to get her revenge.
Hearing the slight clanging sounds inside, Lan Wu hesitated again.
The room was quite furnished. They had only stayed for two days. If Chu Mingheng wasn't familiar with the place, would he bump into something and fall?
Before she could think about the problem carefully, Chu Mingheng's shadow was reflected in the window again.
He didn't seem strange at all, except that his walking posture was particularly straightforward, and you couldn't tell at all that he was blindfolded.
Lan Wu planned to let him hold her for a little longer before going inside; she couldn't let Chu Mingheng know she was being unreasonable.
Thinking this to myself, calculating the time, just as I was about to step towards the door.
Chu Mingheng stood out from inside.
Lan Wu immediately stopped in her tracks, standing there motionless. If it weren't for the blindfold covering Chu Mingheng's eyes, she would have definitely thought that Chu Mingheng knew she was outside.
Didn't we agree to catch her inside the house?
Why did Chu Mingheng move all the way to the doorway?
Lan Wu remained motionless, standing still, even her breathing tightened.
Then, Chu Mingheng slightly raised his hand, his long, slender fingers sliding into the gap between his eye and the strip of cloth. Using this small gap, he pushed the cloth up, revealing one eye that accurately met Lan Wu's gaze, who was staring blankly from outside.
run!
This was the first thought that came to Lan Wu's mind.
A chill ran down her spine, and she turned around and ran away as fast as the wind could carry her.
Chu Mingheng didn't say much, and without much hesitation, he went forward and chased after her, catching Lan Wu in no time.
"Awu, is this how you play a game?" Chu Mingheng restrained her wrist and questioned her softly.
Lan Wu pursed her lips and said, "I just... I just felt hot inside, so I came out for a walk. I was just about to call you out... It's true—"
If Chu Mingheng hadn't known that Lan Wu had jumped outside from the very beginning, he might have actually believed her nonsense.
But right now...
"Well, I've caught you. Now that I've caught you, I'll take the reward myself."
After saying that, he bent down, picked up Lan Wu, and walked into the house.
"Wait, wait a minute—this isn't fair, you opened your eyes, it doesn't count, it doesn't count—" Lan Wu protested, swinging her legs.
Chu Mingheng nodded, seemingly agreeing with her point of view.
“You’re right, then this isn’t a reward.” He approached Lan Wu gently, his smiling eyes meeting her clear gaze. “This is punishment, punishment for A-Wu’s disobedience and double-dealing.”
Lan Wu opened her eyes wide as he carried her into the house.
The cloth strip that was supposed to be tied around Chu Mingheng's eyes was now tied around Lan Wu's eyes. Her vision was completely black, and she couldn't see anything. She panicked and reached out to look for Chu Mingheng, but soon her hand was gently taken and a tender kiss landed on her fingertips.
Lan Wu felt slightly relieved, but the next moment, her clothes were disheveled.
...
As the moon rose above the treetops, Lan Wu finally couldn't help but change her words in a trembling voice.
Chu Mingheng asked her, "Oh, you mean, I've caught you after all, so I can't punish you anymore, is that right?"
Lan Wu's face was flushed, and her lips were trembling. She gave a soft "hmm" and desperately hoped that Chu Mingheng would stop.
Chu Mingheng said seriously, "In that case, I should ask for my reward."
He carried Lan Wu outside.
Before Lan Wu could react, a slight breeze from outside brushed against her smooth back, startling her so much that she cried out softly, "No!"
"Don't do that, Awu. Since you have the audacity to say that you can do whatever you want to me, then you should have the audacity to accept it."
He gently pressed his ear against Lan Wu's earlobe, kissed her neck, inhaled her fragrance, and carried her out.
"Don't worry, there's no one else here," Chu Mingheng reassured him before indulging in his reward.
-
"You shameless bastard! You have no self-control! You lewd—" Lan Wu said to him, her face flushed.
Chu Mingheng picked up the soft pillow from the ground, finished Lan Wu's sentence for her, and sat down on the edge of the couch, leaning in to kiss her: "You lecher, what else?"
Lan Wu glared at him.
She was so cute that Chu Mingheng couldn't help but kiss her again.
"Alright, I promise I won't do anything today. We're going back to the palace tomorrow, so let A-Wu do as she pleases today. Whatever A-Wu says goes, okay?"
Lan Wu, coaxed by him, said in a muffled voice, "You said the same thing before."
This time, Chu Mingheng was genuinely trying to coax her.
Once outside, Lan Wu glanced around the room and asked him, "Can we come here every year?"
"Sure, this place is just for Awu and me. If Awu ever wants to come, just tell me, and I'll make time to bring her here, no matter how busy I am."
His attitude was not bad.
Lan Wu nodded, then walked around outside the door again, as if looking for something.
Chu Mingheng followed her and noticed that she seemed to be pondering something, so he asked her a question.
He was then gently stopped: "Don't bother me, I'm thinking."
Chu Mingheng shut his mouth and didn't say a word.
After thinking it over, he pointed to the spot between the bamboo house and the pond and instructed Chu Mingheng: "Then I want you to plant a peach tree here for me. You have to dig the soil yourself and plant it yourself. Don't be lazy and don't ask the palace servants for help."
Chu Mingheng glanced at the spot Lan Wu pointed to, then at the serious expression on her face, and nodded in agreement: "Okay, then let's plant a peach tree for A-Wu, so that she can eat peaches every summer."
Lan Wu clapped her hands excitedly and generously said, "Okay, since you're so nice, I can help you water the plants or something."
Chu Mingheng chuckled, "Then thank you very much, Madam."
When the palace servants received the order, they quickly went down the mountain to select the best peach saplings. They could not choose saplings that were too young, nor could they choose large trees that had already grown. After much effort, they finally selected the saplings and delivered them in the afternoon.
Just as the palace servants were about to start planting, they heard His Majesty order everyone to stop.
Watching His Majesty dig the soil, the palace servants dared not utter a word. However, they could hear the Empress chattering on the sidelines, praising His Majesty's greatness.
Looking further, one could see the Empress squatting down and splashing water into the soil.
Well, perhaps this is just a little fun for His Majesty and His Majesty.
After planting trees for more than half an hour, Chu Mingheng was sweating profusely, and the palace servants had already left.
After hearing him say "okay," Lan Wu stepped forward and used a handkerchief to wipe Chu Mingheng's sweat.
"Your Majesty must be tired. When this tree bears fruit, the first fruit will be yours to eat," Lan Wu said solicitously.
Chu Mingheng immediately understood what she meant: "Using me as a test subject for poison."
"You're talking nonsense, I'm ignoring you." Lan Wu threw the handkerchief at his face, snorted, and turned to leave.
Chu Mingheng took her hand and smiled, "Let's go, you're dirty, go wash up."
...
Water splashed out of the pool and onto the soil around it, moistening the land. No wonder the flowers around it grew better.
