Chapter 74 Let’s Get Married

The pair of stuffed piglets that Hua Jin bought were placed on the windowsill. They sat together, looking naive and carefree.

Pei Yan changed his clothes and went downstairs. He saw Hua Jin staring at the two dolls in a daze: "Didn't we agree that we would go to Aunt Gao's house for dinner? Since they like the two little pigs so much, we should just carry them to the car and bring them back when we come back?"

"Nonsense." Hua Jin smiled and reached out to hit him, but Pei Yan grabbed her hand and stuffed a scarf into her hand. "If you don't go out now, we'll both be late."

Aunt Gao and Uncle Tan were both from Sichuan Province, so they attached great importance to lunch on New Year’s Eve. For them, if they didn’t have a good lunch, the new year would be wasted.

When Hua Jin arrived, all kinds of meat dishes had already been stewed. Hua Jin and Tan Yuan could not sit still, so they put on their coats and hats and ran to the community downstairs to make a snowman.

Tan Qing looked at the two little girls running downstairs chattering, and said to Pei Yan with a smile: "These two children..."

"It's quite interesting." Pei Yan stood up from the sofa and said to Tan Qing, "Uncle Tan, I'll go down and see them."

Tan Qing smiled and nodded: "Don't play too long, lunch will be at 12 o'clock."

"Okay." Pei Yan walked out of the door with his long legs, and soon the footsteps became farther and farther away in the corridor. Tan Qing laughed helplessly and turned around to see his wife looking at him.

"What's that expression on your face?"

"Nothing." Gao Shulan walked over to sit next to Tan Qing and said after a while, "Huahua and Mr. Pei, can it be done?"

"How would I know if it will work?" Tan Qing sighed, "I think you are just worrying about nothing."

"What do you mean by worrying about nothing? How can you not worry about the younger generation's affairs?" Gao Shulan sighed, "What do you know?"

Tan Qing shut his mouth, not daring to question his wife's authority anymore.

Gao Shulan stood up and walked to the window. She saw Pei Yan walking on the snow and approaching Hua Jin. She didn't know what Hua Jin said, but he began to bend down to help Hua Jin roll the snow. His movements looked very clumsy.

She retracted her gaze, turned around and walked to the kitchen, and said to Tan Qing who was washing his hands and preparing to cut vegetables: "Old man, I think it can be done."

Tan Qing: “…”

"My wife is right."

"Hua Hua, you said you are so good at holding a needle, how come the snowman you made is so ugly?" Tan Yuan looked at the snowman made by Hua Jin with disdain, but when she saw the snowman made by Pei Yan and put it together with the snowman made by Hua Jin, she shut up.

At this moment, she should stay in the house instead of standing here.

"Mom, look, there are three idiots downstairs. It's so cold, and they're still making a snowman."

The three fools all looked up at the naughty kid lying on the second-floor window.

"What nonsense are you talking about?" The child's mother dragged him away, peeked outside, and said with embarrassed laughter, "It's Yuanyuan. Sorry, this child can't speak. You guys have fun. Happy New Year." After that, she quickly closed the window.

It was New Year's Day, and she couldn't quarrel with others because of the bear cub at home.

Hua Jin put her hands in her coat pockets and laughed. Exhaling a breath of hot air, she smiled at Pei Yan and said, "Let's go back."

For Pei Yan, the Tan family's reunion dinner was not as elaborate as his own during the Spring Festival, but he ate a lot on this day. After the New Year's Eve dinner, they sat in front of the TV to watch the Spring Festival Gala, eating melon seeds and candies, and chatting about family matters.

At 12 o'clock, Hua Jin and Pei Yan stood up to leave, and Uncle Tan and Aunt Gao gave them a red envelope each. Pei Yan was embarrassed to accept it, but seeing Hua Jin accept it, he had to accept it with a red face.

After walking downstairs, Pei Yan held Hua Jin's hand and said, "The snow on the ground is too thick, be careful."

"Oh." Hua Jin obediently let Pei Yan lead the way. The two walked out step by step, and the snow made a crackling sound under their feet.

"We are so old, but we still accept red envelopes for New Year's Eve."

"The custom in Aunt Gao's hometown is that people who are not married yet represent that they have not reached adulthood. Elders with better conditions at home will continue to give red envelopes."

"It seems that we won't be able to receive red envelopes next year."

Hua Jin was slightly startled, then understood instantly. She looked at Pei Yan and smiled without saying anything. Pei Yan did not ask any more questions. He carefully held Hua Jin's hand and walked out of the snow-covered neighborhood with her.

Tan Yuan lay on the windowsill, watching the two people walking further and further away, and slowly pulled the curtains.

Huahua was finally not leaving alone anymore, she was very happy.

This New Year is great.

After New Year's Eve, Hua Jin began to accompany Pei Yan to visit his relatives. After a few days, Hua Jin was dizzy with all the complicated relationship between relatives, so she simply went home and drew a family structure chart.

Pei Yan saw it and said with a smile: "Why are you doing this? If you don't know it, then don't know it. You can remember it slowly later."

"Those are your relatives. You've accommodated me a lot, and I want to do something for you." Hua Jin put the notebook with the relationship chart on the bookshelf. "Many times, I also want to pamper you a little more."

"Since you love me so much, let's go traveling when the weather warms up next month." Pei Yan put his arm around her waist, their foreheads touching, "This is what you promised me, huh?"

"Okay." Hua Jin smiled. "Since Mr. Mark's clothing designs became famous overseas, Tan Yuan and I have hired a few more embroiderers in our studio. Now we have more than a dozen embroiderers in the studio. With Tan Yuan here, even if I go out for ten days or half a month, it won't affect the operation of the studio."

"Even if you are the boss, you are entitled to a holiday." Pei Yan hugged Hua Jin by the waist, "However, your dear boyfriend, after hearing the name Mark, his mood suddenly became a little bad, and he needs your comfort to get better."

"How do you want to comfort him?" Hua Jin put her arms around his neck and raised her chin to look at Pei Yan.

"Of course I want to..."

The night was chilly, but the house was warm as spring.

After three or four months, spring comes back to the earth and all things revive. After Hua Jin finishes a piece of embroidery, she embarks on a journey with Pei Yan.

Together they went to see the mountains, the sea, the bustling markets, and even went to Pei Yan's hometown to burn incense for his elders.

When they went to a folk tourist attraction, there were too many people and Hua Jin was squeezed to the ground by a group of strong old men and women. When she looked up again, she could no longer find any trace of Pei Yan.

She reached out to touch her cell phone, then she remembered that she was too tired from walking, so she threw her small backpack to Pei Yan. She was left with nothing in her hands.

After looking around and seeing people everywhere, she gave up reluctantly and sat on the stone steps, ready to borrow someone's cell phone to call Pei Yan.

Just at this moment, a couple came over, and she shamelessly went up to borrow their cell phone. The girl was very easy to talk to and lent her the phone immediately.

Hua Jin thanked him repeatedly and just as she dialed Pei Yan's cell phone number, she heard hurried footsteps behind her.

"Hua Jin!"

Her wrist was grabbed. Hua Jin turned around and saw Pei Yan, who was flushed and gasping for breath.

"I really should get a rope to tie you up." Pei Yan stared at Hua Jin for several seconds, unwilling to say harsh words, and hugged her in his arms, "Do you want to scare me to death?"

"What are you scared of?" Hua Jin smiled, "Didn't you say that you could find me no matter where I go? Look, you've found me now."

Pei Yan didn't say anything, but just hugged her tightly.

The couple sitting on the stone bench saw this scene and secretly averted their gazes. Only the girlfriend twisted her boyfriend's arm excitedly: "This couple is so good-looking. Seeing them hugging each other is like watching a movie."

The boyfriend looked at Pei Yan's face, touched his own face, and remained silent tactfully.

Pei Yan held Hua Jin for a long time, so long that passers-by were secretly looking at them. He then let go of Hua Jin, took off his tie, and tied their hands together. "Hua San Sui, who can get lost, will never get lost this way."

Hua Jin returned the phone to the couple who lent her the phone, thanked them quietly, pretended not to see their excited eyes, and tugged at Pei Yan's sleeve: "Let's go."

"The day after tomorrow is the last stop of our trip. Guess where we're going?"

"Where are you going?"

"I won't tell you yet."

Hua Jin: “…”

Unexpectedly, Pei Yanyan, with her thick eyebrows and big eyes, has also learned to keep people in suspense.

On the morning of the third day, after Hua Jin had packed everything, Pei Yan took her to a small airport and got on a helicopter.

"Where are we going?" Watching the helicopter getting higher and higher off the ground, Hua Jin looked at Pei Yan in confusion.

"Let's go to a good place." Pei Yan took out a handkerchief embroidered by Hua Jin for him and covered Hua Jin's eyes. "Don't worry, we'll be there soon."

"Is it possible that you are trying to give me a surprise?" Hua Jin did not remove the handkerchief covering her eyes. "I remember that many places here are deserts. Do you want to see the magnificent view of the smoke rising from the desert?"

Pei Yan chuckled: "Guess again."

"No guessing." In the darkness, Hua Jin grabbed Pei Yan's hand, "You'll show me sooner or later anyway."

Pei Yan: “…”

He was a little worried. Hua Jin's reaction seemed a little different from what he had imagined. Would the plan succeed?

Half an hour later, Pei Yan suddenly said, "Huahua, I thought about giving you gems, flowers, villas and luxury cars, and even fireworks. But gems are common, flowers wither easily, my villas and luxury cars are also yours, and setting off fireworks is too polluting to the environment. I thought about it for a long time before I wanted to use them to express my feelings."

Pei Yan untied the brocade handkerchief that was covering Hua Jin's eyes.

Hua Jin opened her eyes and saw a large forest in the desert below. The forest was just beginning to turn green, and it was the brightest color in the desert.

As the plane rose higher, Hua Jin gradually discovered that the forest was actually heart-shaped.

"The day I found out I liked you, I started to have people plant this forest." Pei Yan saw Hua Jin looking at the forest in silence, his hands in his suit pockets trembling a little, "Hua Xiaojin, if my heart is a desert, you are the forest in the desert. My heart has become alive because of you."

Hua Jin turned to look at Pei Yan. She wanted to smile, but when she curled her lips, tears flowed down. It was Pei Yan's appearance that brought an oasis of hope to her life.

Pei Yan knelt on one knee in front of Hua Jin. He held up the ring in his hand, trembling constantly: "Hua Hua, let's get married." Before coming, he had thought of many sweet words to propose, but at this moment, he couldn't think of more words.

Wiping the tears from her cheeks, Hua Jin bent down and hugged Pei Yan's neck.

He was at a loss as to what to do and hugged Hua Jin. Hearing her sobbing, he patted her on the back and said, "Don't cry, don't cry. If you don't want to get married too early, we can...we can..."

The words "It's okay not to get married" went around in his mouth for several times, and he didn't finish saying them.

"I promise you." Hua Jin laughed and cried, cried and laughed again. She let go of Pei Yan's neck, looked at his stupid look, and repeated, "I promise you."

Pei Yan put the ring on Hua Jin's hand with trembling hands and blinked: "Hua Xiaojin, am I really not dreaming?"

Bending down, she kissed him on the lips: "Do you think this is a dream?"

Pei Yan touched his lips, shook his head after a while, and took Hua Jin into his arms.

Hua Jin turned her head and looked out the window. The forest on the ground, which had already sprouted green buds, swayed gently in the wind. Perhaps in the near future, it could block the wind and sand for the land behind it, and bring hope of life to more small animals.

She couldn't help but think, what a beautiful forest.

"Pei Yanyan, what is the name of this forest?"

"A feast of flowers, with you and me."

"Well, that's a good name."

"Hua Jin, I'm very happy."

"Me too."

April 8, 2019, sunny

He proposed to me and I wore the ring he gave me.

He doesn't know that I love him so much. As long as he takes out the ring, I will agree to him.

This forest of newly sprouted green buds is the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen in my life.
