Chapter 12 The Light of the Sky (Part 4) Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise

Chapter 12 The Light of the Sky (Part 4) Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise

The young wolf clan leader had never seen the so-called Demon Lord before; the Demon Lord was merely a symbol passed down by word of mouth.

Ru Xian has lived in the Demon Capital for a long time and is indifferent to worldly affairs. It is no exaggeration to say that he is a mascot of the Demon Realm. He has lamented many times that the tribes are too cautious. He is just one person. If they can join forces to besiege him, how could he be the only one to sit on the throne of this realm?

If Xue could kill the previous demon king, then naturally someone else could kill him as well.

Like a newborn calf unafraid of a tiger, he was misled by the power of the Evil Sword and further swayed by the immortal's pronouncements...

In short, there are not many opportunities to enter the Demon Capital and see Ruxian, so he chose to test the waters today. If he fails, he can blame it on Zeyu. In addition, with his father's protection, Ruxian will probably be wary.

But despite all his calculations, he never expected that Zeyu would not arrive today.

The arrow was already on the bowstring and had to be released, so he still sent a signal to the immortal. When the evil sword was in chaos, he saw Ru Xian sitting helplessly on the high place, and his heart was filled with emotion. The so-called demon lord was nothing more than this.

But only now did he realize that, besides Ze Yu, he had overlooked the most important point: Ru Xian did not care about King Kuo Feng, or rather, he did not care about anyone.

He subdued his father so easily, and when he stood in front of him, he was like a dazzling light that swept in, enough to cover the sky and leave only a golden and white view. However, he did not take him seriously. Even when he stood in front of him, he still glanced at the human out of the corner of his eye.

The boy then realized that the so-called punishment was nothing more than a moment of curiosity, only that this curiosity was not directed at him.

He had been kicked in the stomach and was now trembling, half-kneeling on the ground, unsure whether it was from pain or fear. Glancing at his mother's worried face, he gritted his teeth and said, "What happened today was my doing alone; it has nothing to do with anyone else..."

Ru Xian raised an eyebrow: "Of course it's irrelevant. Arrogant people always need something to rely on. If it were the human princess standing there, she could be a bit arrogant. But you are still lacking, even less than your brother."

He raised his hand, his palm hovering above the boy's head, golden light gathering and surging, strands of it like silk thread drilling into the boy's brow.

The boy's eyes widened in fear, as if Ru Xian could read that matter in his heart...

"No, no..."

But it was no longer under his control.

The boy's muscles twitched and writhed under the stimulation, and he kept making "hoarse" sounds. The jade pendant he was holding tightly slipped from his hand and fell to the floor with a clatter.

Suddenly, his left eye widened, while his right eye slowly unfocused, his dark pupils moving around in his eye sockets like bubbles.

The Yaoguang Platform was extremely quiet. Everyone held their breath as they watched this once-in-a-lifetime soul-searching technique.

Lin Feiran remained silent, but her gaze was fixed on the jade pendant as she pondered, paying no attention to the soul-searching phenomenon.

Before his thoughts could even process this, a buzzing sound suddenly came from the air. Lin Feiran immediately pulled the person beside him back a few steps. The scattered ice shards on the ground shattered again, turning into dust that flew up like mist and snow, blinding everyone.

As the dust settled, it was clear that Ru Xian's left hand was still hovering above the wolf clan's young master's head, while his right hand held a flying sword blade between his fingers.

His gaze shifted, looking towards the palace gate, where a thirteen or fourteen-year-old Taoist boy stood.

The young Taoist was not tall, dressed in a dark blue Taoist robe, with his hair tied in two buns, two strands of black hair hanging down at his temples, and a dot of cinnabar between his eyebrows. His face had not yet fully developed, and it was impossible to tell whether he was male or female.

Like a hailstone glancing at the sword that gleamed between his fingers, he flicked it back: "The blade is bright and sharp, the spirit is clear and bright, this is the true Qingfeng Sword."

The wolf clan's young master lay on the ground, half-conscious and half-delusional. His left eye struggled to look towards the door, and he mumbled, "Immortal Master, I didn't say anything, just kill me..."

The young Taoist priest, who was called the Immortal Master, neither looked at Ru Xian nor paid attention to the boy. Instead, he frowned and stared at Lin Feiran, who was standing silently to the side. His eyes seemed to show surprise and some confusion.

When Lin Feiran's eyes met his, she inexplicably felt a direct and pure malice.

“An anomaly, shall be punished.”

After the young Taoist finished speaking, he pointed ahead, and the Qingfeng Sword, upon receiving the command, immediately rose into the air, its azure sword light shining brightly, and its righteous energy surging.

Ru Xian glanced back at Lin Feiran, seemingly lost in thought, and then stepped aside to make way for the sword, allowing it to rush straight ahead.

The Qingfeng sword darted forward like lightning, its shadow slicing through the surrounding silk gauze and startling the white cranes on the lake. The pure, chilling aura of this precious artifact penetrated to the bone.

Those around immediately retreated several meters away, fearing they would be affected. In the hall, only Lin Feiran remained focused, as she had no sword in her hand and could only use her fan to defend herself.

Ru Xian's eyes were filled with great interest. He casually tossed the half-mad wolf clan young master aside and said, "There has been a lot of fun today. I am enjoying it. The punishment ends here."

As soon as he finished speaking, King Kuofeng suddenly came to his senses. When he saw his son in this state, he was filled with grief and anger, but was stopped by his son Mingting. His voice was hoarse, but his words were very clear.

"Father! My brother is at least still alive, and there might still be a chance of saving him, but if he angers the Lord, I'm afraid there will be a great calamity for the clan!"

King Kuofeng gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and swallowed his anger: "Let's go find the spirit healer!"

The rest of the people remained where they were, and since Ru Xian had not spoken, they dared not leave or stay at will, and could only watch the battle.

The young Taoist priest brandished his Qingfeng sword and strode forward. His sword moves seemed to have form and were fast, but because they lacked spirit, he could never hit the mark and was frequently dodged by Lin Feiran.

He glanced at the drunken Shangxie Sword lying on the ground, his brow furrowing with anger, and pointed a finger: "You wretched creature, wake up!"

Unfortunately, the sword is drunk and has lost its soul.

Reminded by him, Lin Feiran then remembered that he had a sword at hand. He slapped the fan at the Taoist boy, rolled over, and picked up the Shangxie Sword.

Anyway, she used to use ordinary swords, so Wuling is more convenient for her to use.

As the blue light drew closer, she flipped her sword upwards to block the descending blade.

The Qingfeng Sword's aura was upright and powerful, weighing down like a thousand pounds. It made Lin Feiran's hands go numb. If she hadn't been holding the Shangxie Sword, it probably would have broken long ago.

The young Taoist scoffed, leaped forward, gripped his green sword, and began to fight her.

As their weapons clashed, Lin Feiran spoke up: "I don't know you."

The young Taoist priest, who had been intently watching her with a solemn expression, suddenly changed his demeanor, raising his eyebrows and pouting his lips with a touch of coquettishness.

"Hmph, I don't care if you know me or not, I'm going to take your life today!"

Lin Feiran paused for a moment when she heard his self-identification, then slid her longsword and cut off half of his long hair.

The young Taoist took a few steps back, first glaring at her reproachfully, then his expression returned to normal. He lowered his eyes, clasped his hands together, and formed a hand seal, no longer engaging in swordplay with her, as he was not primarily focused on swordsmanship anyway.

The Qingfeng sword rose into the air and rang out, several magic seals were applied to its body, and the buzzing sword sound shook the lake water, causing the fish to jump up.

With a ticking sound, sword intent surged forth, and Lin Feiran felt as if he had fallen into a galaxy, or as if he were standing on a vast wilderness. For a moment, the world spun around him, and he felt extremely dizzy.

Lin Feiran's pupils suddenly dilated. She knew she had to retreat, and she also knew that she had fallen into the Dharma Image, but she could not see through it at the moment and could not avoid it.

In an instant, a jade-green spear fell from the sky, the shaft barely touching Lin Feiran's nose, pinning the Green Peak Sword straight to the ground.

Ru Xian stood gracefully atop the spear, her snow-white eyelashes half-lowered, looking down at the young Taoist boy.

"The person who gifted the sword in the wolf clan young master's memories just now was also you. You're only at the Ascending Realm, yet you dare to cause trouble right before my eyes. How do you want to die?"

The young Taoist showed no fear whatsoever. He merely glanced at him, ignored his words, and pulled a dagger from his wrist, stabbing it at Lin Feiran without any hesitation.

Ru Xian slightly raised her eyebrows.

One by one, they all seemed to disregard him, which suggests he was too kind-hearted today.

The young Taoist leaped forward, each move deadly, but his eyes held only coldness, not hatred. Lin Feiran couldn't understand why this person wanted to take her life.

She raised her sword to parry, but there had been too many fights today. Even though the wound had been treated with spiritual medicine, it could no longer hold on and gradually began to burst open. The dampness seeped through her clothes, staining the gold thread on her wedding dress crimson.

The young Taoist was not skilled in martial arts, but he was extremely fast. When he saw that her movements were momentarily slowed down, he took advantage of the opportunity to thrust forward without hesitation. Just as he was about to succeed, he suddenly felt a heart-palpitating pressure.

In an instant, spiritual pressure swept across the sky, forcing the young Daoist to lie prone on the ground, his face contorted in pain. Before he could get up, an even greater force struck, and he felt a sharp pain in the back of his neck as the person behind him trampled him underfoot.

The sunlight before him was blocked by the white and gold robe, and a cold fragrance wafted over him. He clenched his fist in resentment.

"Making a scene and instigating fools to assassinate me is understandable, but being arrogant is wrong and deserves punishment."

As if snowflakes were stepping on the back of his neck, he raised his right hand and spear, the golden lotus ring on his wrist shimmering slightly. He parted his lips slightly and said in a cool voice, "See you in the next life."

As the young Taoist struggled in his death throes, a jade pendant hanging from his waist lit up, and spiritual energy flowed through his limbs, helping him break free from Rushan's feet. However, he could only escape for two steps before his pupils suddenly contracted and he fell backward to the ground.

The emerald spear pierced precisely into the red dot between his eyebrows, passing straight through like a target being pierced, pinning him to the ground.

Blood seeped out, leaving only a pair of unwilling eyes.

The hall was completely silent.

As if releasing his grip, the spear shimmered slightly and instantly transformed into a green-eyed fox, which furry upside down on the boy's face, licking its paws and washing its face.

As if sensing something was wrong, it turned its head and saw a patch of red stain on its snow-white rump fur. It immediately bristled in alarm and barked, "Woof!"

Lin Feiran: "..."

Is that how foxes call?

After shouting, it ran wildly, its sturdy paws stepping onto Lin Feiran's head. It leaped up, transforming into a silver fish in mid-air before diving into the water. After circling a few times, it leaped out again, transforming back into the snow-white, green-eyed fox, obediently squatting beside Rushan's legs and licking its fur.

Apart from Lin Feiran, the others were already used to it, and their attention was more focused on the person in the high seat.

Ru Shan lightly tapped the armrest with her fingertips, her gaze sweeping over: "Is anyone else going to make a move today? Why don't we do it while there are more people around?"

Everyone immediately bowed in greeting, but no one responded.

Ru Xian then asked, "Who else wants to seize, rob, or kill this bright moon of Taiwu Kingdom?"

The hall remained silent.

A group of attendants quickly entered the Yaoguang Terrace. They moved swiftly, and in a few moments the hall was restored to its original state, except for the unobstructed light from the sky above.

The young Taoist was also taken away like trash, his eyes still open as he was carried out the door, seemingly still unable to believe that he had been defeated.

Lin Feiran sat back down and was suddenly filled with emotion.

She had never felt particularly sought after before, but in just one day, she felt the fervent enthusiasm of everyone vying to kill her.

But this enthusiasm was destined to be fruitless.

Her palms felt slightly cool. She looked down at the celadon medicine bottle in her hand and the jade pendant she had picked up in the chaos, and a spark of emotion stirred within her.

The demon realm is completely different from the human realm. Here, spiritual energy is abundant, and exotic flowers and herbs flourish. In addition, there is the medical master on the jade platform. Perhaps, her severed meridian is not an incurable disease.

Sunlight cast shadows through the windowpanes, the gauze curtains fluttered again, and the bright sunlight and shimmering waves gathered in the Yaoguang Terrace, scorching one's back and making one squint.

Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise; who can say that being forced into the demon realm wasn't her destiny?

The desk was covered in shimmering light, and behind her, cranes cried and fish darted about in the heart of the lake. She stroked the gold thread of her clothes beneath her palm. The ill-fitting wedding dress clung tightly to her body, restricting her every inch. The calluses on her fingers rubbed against her smooth porcelain body, which was adorned with a touch of spring rouge. Finally, she raised her eyes.

Through the blazing sunlight and the bowing king and his ministers, she looked over. The man seemed oblivious, only glancing at the ever-growing pile of gift boxes, before casting a fleeting glance in the increasingly intense sunlight, like a startled swan.

*

That night, in the burial ground of the demon race, a figure sat up straight.

His clothes were disheveled, his face was stained red, his hair was askew, and the cinnabar dot between his eyebrows looked as if it had been washed away by water, dull and lifeless. He was none other than the Taoist boy whose forehead had been pierced today.

Tears streamed down his face as he stumbled to his feet, raised his hand to lift his Taoist robe, and awkwardly wiped away the dried blood from his face. The way he lifted his robe was like that of a girl.

He ran forward crying.

"Dao Master..."
