Chapter 40: He Zaining and Ji Siyu meet; Ling Qianzhu and Su Fu...

"Huh?" Before Chu Jingze could react to the meaning behind Xu Lingzhao's words, she put her arm around his waist and led him into a cell in the prison. Along the way, every cell was filled with prisoners, all of them lying on the ground, barely alive, their ashen eyes looking at Chu Jingze.

Before he could look closely, Xu Lingzhao's warm hand covered his eyes. "Don't look."

Xu Lingzhao led him to a cell. She lowered her hand that was blocking Chu Jingze's view. Chu Jingze looked through the iron bars and saw Ji Cunxi sitting on the damp ground. Her usual arrogant and domineering appearance had disappeared, replaced by a disheveled and weak appearance. Dark red bloodstains seeped from her white prison clothes.

Hearing the noise, Ji Cunxi slowly raised her eyelids, looked at Chu Jingze's fair face, smiled self-deprecatingly, closed her eyes, and quietly waited for what was about to happen.

All the anger, sadness, and resentment turned into calm at this moment. Quietness was Ji Cunxi's last act of dignity.

Xu Lingzhao shoved a pistol into Chu Jingze's hand. "Are you going to send her on her way?"

Chu Jing stared at the pistol in his hand, the scene from that day flashing through his mind. He wasn't a saint; of course he hated her, but he couldn't bring himself to kill her. He pushed the pistol back into Xu Lingzhao's palm. "I...you do it." He lowered his eyes and rested his head against Xu Lingzhao's chest.

Xu Lingzhao looked down at the person in her arms, and did not force him. She patted his head and pressed him closer to her with her other hand, so that he was facing away from Ji Cunxi.

She raised her pistol and pointed it at Ji Cunxi's forehead, her eyes devoid of emotion. All those who had harmed Chu Jingze had only one fate. She pulled the trigger, and Ji Cunxi's body slowly fell to the ground, tears streaming down his face.

"Let's go." Xu Lingzhao patted Chu Jingze's shoulder, took his hand and walked outside. She had deliberately chosen execution by firing squad, but she felt no pleasure in seeing her enemies die one by one.

It only felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders.

The most important thing next is to kill the Queen's clone in this world.

The federal government is quietly reshuffling and liquidating, with some leaving the stage and others taking the stage with high spirits. Ordinary people don't know exactly what's happening, but the promulgation of a series of policies that benefit the people makes them feel that their lives are gradually moving in a better direction.

He Zaining lay on the hospital bed looking at the person standing beside her. He had his head down, and a restraint ring was around his neck, making him look like a prisoner. She looked coldly at Ji Siyu, her eyes constantly scrutinizing him. They had been like this ever since he was brought to the ward that afternoon.

Ji Siyu was the only one who survived. He Zaining recalled Xu Lingzhao's communication, which implied that she would not kill him and that everything was up to her. In other words, whether Ji Siyu lived or died was entirely up to her.

"What are you standing there for? I'm thirsty." He Zaining said in a low voice. The person in front of her bit her lip, looked up at her, and obediently handed her the water glass that was on the bedside table.

But she remained unmoved, neither reaching out nor opening her mouth.

Ji Siyu blinked. In the past, He Zaining would do these things for him, but now the roles were reversed. He licked his lips and pressed the water glass against her lips.

A few seconds later.

"Are you really ignorant or just pretending?" He Zaining stared straight at him, her eyes dark and unreadable. Her injuries had almost healed, but Ji Siyu's current appearance stirred up wicked thoughts in her heart.

Ji Siyu paused for a few seconds before instantly understanding her meaning. He turned the cup towards himself, took a sip of water, and leaned close to He Zaining's slightly pale lips. Their breaths mingled. He met He Zaining's gaze and pressed his lips to her soft lips. He felt He Zaining slightly part her lips.

He Zaining swallowed a few times, and just as she sensed that Ji Siyu was about to get up and leave, she reached out and wrapped one arm around his waist, squeezing it gently. With the other hand, she pressed firmly against the back of his head, deepening the kiss.

Ji Siyu was forced to kneel by the bed. His hands were on He Zaining's shoulders. He wanted to push him away but couldn't. As the kiss deepened, he felt his pheromones overflowing uncontrollably.

His posture changed to sitting on He Zaining's lap. He opened his eyes slightly and suddenly met her dark gaze. He had seen this kind of gaze before, but now... if Xu Lingzhao hadn't suddenly appeared, he would have killed He Zaining.

Everyone else was dead except him. Ji Siyu knew it must be because of He Zaining that Xu Lingzhao had "gone easy" on him.

As the kiss ended, Ji Siyu felt a stinging pain, his face flushed slightly. He Zaining bit his tongue, the metallic taste spreading in his mouth. He lowered his head, his arms encircling her neck. "You forgive me?" he asked He Zaining with expectant eyes.

But He Zaining didn't reply to him. Instead, he reached out and touched Ji Siyu's lower abdomen. "I don't think I've ever entered your reproductive cavity." As soon as he finished speaking, Ji Siyu felt dizzy and was pinned to the bed by He Zaining.

"I...uh...."

He Zaining didn't give him a chance to speak, and bit him as if punishing him.

Ling Qianzhu yawned as she looked at the darkening sky. Why wasn't he awake yet? Her gaze fell on the person with his eyes closed. She walked to the treatment pod, opened the door, and leaned in to look at him. His skin was so white, and he had a small mole on his cheek. Just as she was lost in thought, the Omega opened his eyes.

Faced with his face so close, he pushed away Ling Qianzhu, who was standing too close, as if startled. Caught off guard, Ling Qianzhu was pushed back two steps. She coughed lightly, realizing that she had been a bit too forward.

Omega looked at the reserved person in front of him and realized that this person was likely the one who saved him. He had actually pushed his savior. He glanced at the timetable on the wall: 6:30 pm!! He suddenly stepped out of the treatment pod, but the expected pain did not come due to his unsteady center of gravity.

Ling Qianzhu hugged him again, "Is something the matter that you're in such a hurry to resolve?"

Omega shook his head, lowering his eyes. "Thank you. I'll pay you back for the treatment pod. I have to go now." He stepped out of Pei Zhenwei's embrace and stumbled as he ran out, looking anxious.

Ling Qianzhu frowned as she watched his retreating figure. It was nighttime, and the Omega was all alone, especially a weak and frail one. It was too dangerous. She followed him with concern, and sure enough, as soon as she stepped out of the hospital, she saw him being shoved and pushed around by a group of people.

"What are you doing?" Ling Qianzhu shouted. The group of people surrounding him glared at her and spat. "What, are you going to play the hero and pay off his debts for him?"

Ling Qianzhu met his gaze without fear, then shifted her gaze to the Omega whose shoulders were trembling uncontrollably. Money—the last thing Ling Qianzhu lacked right now was money. She strode forward and pulled him into her arms to comfort him, "How much?"

"500,000 Star Coins".

"OK."

Her straightforward tone startled the group. The burly man leading the group sized up Ling Qianzhu's clothes, and after a few seconds of thought, he was about to extort a large sum of money from her when a man in military uniform approached Ling Qianzhu with a respectful demeanor. "Minister, the Commander-in-Chief said you should go see her tomorrow."

The atmosphere became subtle because of that sentence.

Ling Qianzhu nodded and said to her, "Then you handle this matter." As she spoke, she pulled the panicked Omega to the passenger seat in the car. She glanced at him and was about to lean over to help him fasten his seatbelt when he closed his eyes tightly, his hands tightly covering his chest, his face slightly red. "You...you...I will pay you back the money, you can't do this."

She chuckled, fastened her seatbelt, and returned to the driver's seat. "Can't I help you fasten your seatbelt? That would get me a ticket." Her humorous tone eased the awkward atmosphere. "It's getting late, shall I take you home?"

Omega nodded, gripping the seatbelt tightly with both hands. His mother was still in the hospital, and his six-year-old sister was at home; she must be hungry. He glanced furtively at the person driving; she seemed different from any of the Alphas he had met before.

"What...what's your name?" he asked in a low voice. "Let's connect, and I'll pay you back."

"My name is Ling Qianzhu." Ling Qianzhu was focused on driving and didn't reply to his next question, "What's your name?"

"My name is Su Fuying." Seeing that she hadn't replied to the message on the phone, Su Fuying bit his lower lip in embarrassment. The car fell silent again, and after a while, Alpha's voice sounded in his ear, "We've arrived."

Su Fuying nodded, and just as he was about to get out of the car, Ling Qianzhu opened the car door for him, saying, "Let me help you."

The two stood under the streetlight. Su Fuying looked at his toes. "Thank you. You helped me so much today... I..." He clutched the hem of his clothes. Actually, he didn't know how to thank the person in front of him. She seemed to be from a different world than him.

"I'm a little hungry. How about you make me something to eat as a way of... thanking me?" Ling Qianzhu looked at his nervous expression and gave him a gentle smile.

“Okay!” Su Fuying nodded heavily. He led Ling Qianzhu upstairs, took out his key from his pocket and opened the door. “The place is a bit small, don’t mind.”

No sooner had he finished speaking than a little girl in pajamas threw herself into Su Fuying's arms, her voice filled with grievance, "Brother, why are you only coming back now?"

Su Fuying gently patted her head and asked in a tender voice, "You went to the hospital to see your mother. Are you hungry?"

"Hungry—" The little girl looked at Ling Qianzhu, tilted her head and asked Su Fuying, "Brother, who is this sister?"

“I’m your brother’s friend,” Ling Qianzhu answered first. She noticed the fleeting embarrassment on Su Fuying’s face. Perhaps he didn’t know how to explain who he was, after all, they had only known each other for less than a day.

Ling Qianzhu sat on the sofa, watching Su Fuying's back as he busied himself in the kitchen. His apron encircled his waist; he was so thin. "Sister, you're so pretty," the little girl said, approaching Ling Qianzhu with a big smile. "Sister, my name is Su Fuqing, you can call me Qingqing."

"Qingqing." Ling Qianzhu was enveloped by Qingqing's enthusiasm. Her brother seemed shy, but her sister was so lively. "Sister, do you like brother a little?"

This statement surprised Ling Qianzhu and the people busy in the kitchen. Su Fuying paused slightly while chopping vegetables, not knowing why he wanted to hear Ling Qianzhu's answer.

Ling Qianzhu chuckled and gently pinched Qingqing's nose. "Little child, why are you asking such a question?"
