Chapter 33 Crisis: Sitya's Betrayal; Xu Lingzhao's Memories...
"What are you doing here?" Lu Qianxue glanced at her coldly, her emotions quickly returning to calm. She put on her gold-rimmed glasses and resumed her composed demeanor.
"It's nothing." Ji Yao smiled maliciously. She bent down to pick up the documents on the ground and casually flipped through them. "Hmm..." She held the documents between her index and middle fingers and "thud" the documents fell onto Lu Qianxue's desk. She looked directly at Lu Qianxue: "Deputy Commander Lu, you are really busy with so many things every day. You must be very busy. But you won't be so busy for long."
Lu Qianxue frowned slightly. Ji Yao's tone was mocking and smug. She met Ji Yao's provocative gaze without backing down: "Now, what you say doesn't count."
"It'll be over soon."
The two were locked in a fierce duel, the atmosphere delicate. Lu Qianxue glanced towards the door, where the Planetary Army soldiers standing outside were wearing clothes belonging to Hiteas and Ji Yao. She couldn't wait any longer.
He Zaining rubbed her eyes. She had received a message from Lu Qianxue that today was the last day. If Xu Lingzhao did not come out of the building, then the group led by Ji Yao would directly conclude that Xu Lingzhao was dead. Her eyes were bloodshot. No matter what the deadline they gave her, she would stay here. She wanted to see him alive or dead.
She couldn't let anyone ruin this place. She took off her helmet, exhaled, and looked up at the sky. Snowflakes fell on her face and melted quickly. The cool sensation made her more alert. Strands of red hair clung to her lips. While she was still in a daze, a hand helped her tuck her hair behind her ear. He Zaining looked down at the person. It was Ji Siyu. A gentle smile appeared on his face.
Perhaps because of the light, He Zaining felt that his smile was a little dazzling at this moment. She looked behind Ji Siyu. She did not come alone. She brought with her the planetary army of Hiteias.
He Zaining took a step back to create distance between them. In that moment, she understood everything. Her lips trembled slightly as she tried to keep her voice calm. Her gaze returned to Ji Siyu's face: "Ji Yao, did she send you?"
“Yes, in short, even if Xu Lingzhao comes out, I won’t let her leave alive.” Ji Siyu smiled charmingly, her smiling eyes filled with indifference: “However, I won’t let you die.”
"You won't... let me die... so in your eyes I'm no different from your other Alphas?" He Zaining had been extremely sleep-deprived these past few days; her lips were pale and her eyelids were swollen. She didn't know how to describe her feelings at this moment. She liked Ji Siyu, and she knew that he... wasn't an Omega in the traditional sense. She calmly gripped the pistol at her waist and released a signal; the Planetary Army of Pasifika quickly adjusted their formation.
The step she took away became an invisible watershed.
“There is a difference. You are more innocent, which is my type.” Ji Siyu no longer pretended. He had played house with He Zaining before, partly because he needed to find a backer, and partly because Ji Yao gave him orders. It was convenient for him to steal secrets and whisper in her ear when he was around. But He Zaining was not stupid and was always on guard against him.
But given the current situation, he no longer needs to play the role. He now has the opportunity to go back to the past and be the high and mighty heir.
He Zaining licked her dry lips; perhaps she had never truly understood Ji Siyu.
Chu Jing sat on the bed with red eyes, tears streaming down his face. For three whole days, there was no news of Xu Lingzhao. The news reports were overwhelming, saying that she was dead. He was holding her clothes in his arms. If only he had held her that night and not let her go... But there are no ifs.
He wanted to go out and look for Xu Lingzhao, but Bai Feng refused his request because no matter whether Xu Lingzhao was alive or dead, someone wanted to kidnap him to threaten Xu Lingzhao.
If she comes out alive.
Bai Feng stood guard outside the gate, wiping the blood from his cheek. Fortunately, Commander Xu had strengthened the villa's defenses before leaving, and the number of Planetary Army soldiers was twice as many as before. Otherwise, they really wouldn't have been able to withstand wave after wave of attacks. He didn't believe that Commander Xu would die so easily.
Therefore, he must protect Commander Xu's wife, as his current position is entirely due to her support.
Song Shuci loaded the energy bar into her pulse rifle, walked to Bai Feng's side, and said angrily, "Those people from Hiteas are shameless! The commander didn't kill them back then, but instead... they joined forces with other forces to try and seize power!"
“Otherwise, why would Hiteas have been called a rebel army before?” Bai Feng’s eyes were cold and his tone was filled with hatred. “For various reasons, Commander Xu had to cooperate with them. Now, they are the group that betrayed us the fastest.”
The words had barely left his mouth when the ground trembled, raising clouds of dust. Bai Feng's pupils constricted as a figure appeared in his line of sight—Ji Cunxi! The woman who had been relentlessly pursuing Commander Xu!
Ji Cunxi walked towards Bai Feng with a smug look on her face. Her gaze swept over the second-floor balcony of the villa. Her mother still understood her and sent her to capture Chu Jingze. Thinking of what happened that day, she was so jealous that she was going crazy. Xu Lingzhao was missing, but her wife was still there. There was nothing that would make her happier than tormenting Chu Jingze.
Even if Xu Lingzhao survives, Chu Jingze will have already been raped and killed by her. She deliberately picked out several strong Alphas from the planetary army. She admits that she is despicable, and she has always been this kind of person!
Blame Xu Lingzhao for provoking her first!
Victoria Harbour.
Ling Qianzhu inhaled a large amount of smoke, which choked her and brought tears to her eyes. The taste of rust spread in her throat. She commanded Pasifika's planetary army to retreat continuously.
Explosions and screams filled their ears as Hiteas fighter jets repeatedly swooped down and launched missiles to bombard them. At that moment, Victoria Harbour was like a living hell.
Just minutes ago, her comrades were firing together from cover, but now they were a pile of limbs scattered around the scorched shell crater. A severed hand lay at her feet, its fingers still in a spasmodic position as if pulling the trigger. Seeing this, Ling Qianzhu felt a lump in her throat. She looked at the fighter jets circling overhead in despair.
Hitias received continuous reinforcements, well-equipped and well-coordinated, and even the Zerg army joined the battle. Meanwhile, Pasifica suffered more than half its casualties, ran out of ammunition, and even bandages became a luxury.
"Watch out! There's..." someone shouted hoarsely between the noisy explosions, but the sound was quickly drowned out by another round of explosions.
Ling Qianzhu leaned against the back of the container, the barrel of the pulse rifle in her hand burning hot. She suddenly leaned forward and fired at the swaying enemy figure, pulling the trigger, but the expected result did not happen. She only heard the click of an empty bullet.
The energy bar is depleted.
With nowhere left to retreat and thick smoke billowing everywhere, Ling Qianzhu gave a bitter smile. Perhaps dying on the battlefield wouldn't be so bad. He didn't know whether Xu Lingzhao was alive or dead. In the current situation, everyone was trapped.
If she could get out of here alive, she would definitely take revenge on all these grandsons... Her gaze fell on her comrades who were still fighting hard. Some of them, like her, had exhausted their energy. In the instant their eyes met, Ling Qianzhu was no longer her superior, and they were no longer her subordinates.
They were all warriors fighting for Pasifica.
Xu Lingzhao struggled to open her eyes. The insect mother in front of her was gone, replaced by warm sunlight and brightly blooming flowers all around. The scenery in front of her was unreal. She tried her best to remember something, but she couldn't remember anything except the insect mother. Instead, she had a memory she had never had before.
She propped herself up from the grass and was astonished to find... she placed her hands in front of her, and they were chubby, small, like a child's hands. Xu Lingzhao walked on the grass in confusion. She felt something on her forehead, and when she reached out to touch it, she found it was a pair of golden antennae.
A gentle breeze swept by, and Xu Lingzhao felt a strange resistance. She looked behind her and saw a pair of transparent wings with golden veins. She was confused. Who was she? Where was she? Why was she in this place?
Why does this place feel both familiar and strange? Suddenly, she heard the laughter of children. Xu Lingzhao followed the sound and pushed aside the flowers that were obscuring her view. A group of children who were playing and laughing by the water saw her and ran towards her: "Basilissa, you're finally awake!"
A little girl with big, round eyes held her hand and said, "Come play with us now that you're awake! The stream is especially cool today!"
"Yes! Yes!" A childlike, silvery laugh rang in Xu Lingzhao's ears, and she was unconsciously infected by it. She ran with them to the stream.
She looked at her reflection in the water. Her long golden hair and golden eyes were no different from the group of children in front of her. If there was any difference, her colors were purer, and she seemed to radiate a soft golden light. The cool lake water splashed on her face. Xu Lingzhao looked up and saw the girl from before pouting: "Basilissa, what's wrong? Why do you seem unhappy?"
“Basilissa,” she murmured the name. Just as she was about to answer, the children around her opened their arms and ran back. Xu Lingzhao turned around as well, and a group of adults came into view. They picked up the children who rushed towards them. Xu Lingzhao’s gaze met that of a woman whose body also radiated a soft golden light through the crowd.
For some reason, she had a strong feeling that it was her mother.
She walked across the grass, approaching her step by step, a gentle smile spreading across her beautiful face. She reached out her hand to her at the stream: "Basilissa. My child, come here."
Xu Lingzhao stared blankly at her, but her body moved forward unconsciously. Her small hand grasped the hand that was being held out to her. She felt a sense of weightlessness as she was pulled into the other woman's arms and kissed her on the cheek.
She blinked and looked at her: "Mom?"
"Hmm? What's wrong, my darling?" She affectionately stroked her nose with her hand and carried her away from the stream. Along the way, Xu Lingzhao buried her face in her neck, so all the memories seemed to flood into her mind at once.
She is the child of Matriarch, the queen of the bees.
