As soon as Sang Muyang went downstairs, he saw this scene. His brother-in-law Yan Zheng was hiding behind the door frame, watching his sister smoking, while he was secretly wiping away tears.
Did they have a fight?
Sang Muyang hesitated for a moment and walked over: "Brother-in-law?" he called softly.
When Yan Zheng heard Sang Muyang's voice, he quickly wiped away his tears and whispered, "You, why are you here?"
Sang Muyang raised the food tray in his hand and said, "Bring food to my sister."
"Your sister is in a bad mood, let's not disturb her." Yan Zheng said hesitantly.
"So you just stand here?" Sang Muyang said sympathetically, "You're so stupid."
Yan Zheng smiled awkwardly.
"But you're right. My sister must be in a bad mood after grandma passed away." Sang Muyang lowered his eyes and sighed, "But that's life. Birth, old age, sickness and death are inevitable."
"My sister is just like that. She can never let go of these things."
"I heard from my mother that before my grandmother passed away, she always dreamed of my grandfather, and then her spirit gradually withered. She probably wanted to leave this world early."
Seeing that Yan Zheng didn't respond, Sang Muyang suddenly smiled and said, "Brother-in-law, do you want to eat something?"
Yan Zheng shook his head slightly. He had encountered too many things in the past few days and had no appetite at all.
"Actually, you should have walked over and hugged her to comfort her. My sister might have scolded you, but she would have been very happy in her heart."
Yan Zheng looked at him in surprise.
Sang Muyang blinked: "Even a straight woman can't stand a man like this. She may say she doesn't like it, but deep down she's probably spinning with joy. My sister is especially like this."
"She said she likes to digest some negative emotions alone." Yan Zheng said softly.
"You really believed what she said?" Sang Muyang curled his lips, "Believe it or not, she can smoke all night long like this."
As far as Yan Zheng could remember, it was the first time that he spoke so much to his brother-in-law. Before that, he had only seen Sang Tianen quarreling with him.
However, judging from the current situation, this younger brother does not seem to be completely indifferent to his sister.
Seeing his expression soften, Sang Muyang continued, "Take this to her, and she'll definitely feel better. My sister may have a tough personality, but she's still a human being, and she needs comfort when she's sad. If she knew you were still up so late bringing her something to eat, she'd be so touched."
After hearing what Sang Muyang said, Yan Zheng was also a little moved. He also wanted to support his wife when she was sad.
So he took a deep breath and walked out with the food tray.
It was not until he walked up to Sang Tianen that the latter realized it belatedly and turned around to look at him with a little surprise.
"Why aren't you sleeping yet so late?" Perhaps because he smoked too much, Sang Tianen's voice sounded hoarse.
Yan Zheng raised his eyes and looked at her: "I'm worried about you."
Sang Tianen took a puff of cigarette and smiled lightly: "I'm fine."
"Can you please stop smoking?" Yan Zheng said with a frown.
Sang Tianen threw the cigarette butt on the ground and extinguished it, then raised his eyebrows and said, "Anything else?"
"Would you like something to eat?" Yan Zheng picked up a bag of instant noodles from the plate and handed it to her.
Sang Tianen didn't take it, but glanced behind him with an unclear expression: "Did Sang Muyang ask you to get it?"
Yan Zheng's eyes widened instantly, and he asked in surprise: "You, how did you know?"
"Except for him who gives people instant noodles and spicy noodles as midnight snacks, no one around me would do such a thing."
Yan Zheng paused and said, "Don't you want me to talk to him?"
"That's the grudge between him and me. You just need to treat him as a normal relative." Sang Tianen's voice was a little cold.
"Then I will ignore him from now on." Yan Zheng replied.
Sang Tianen sighed: "Go back to sleep, I'll be fine here by myself."
Yan Zheng took a step forward and said stubbornly: "But I want to accompany you, I want to stay with you, I can't sleep alone."
Sang Tianen's expression paused, and he suddenly lowered his eyes and said, "But I can't be with you forever."
Yan Zheng's tears suddenly flowed down when he heard this, and he felt a piercing pain in his chest. It seemed like he was crying all the time in recent days.
Sang Tianen sighed deeply again, hugged the man into his arms, and touched the back of his head intermittently: "Why are you crying again?"
"I, can we be together forever?" Yan Zheng cried, "You, you can't abandon me just because grandma passed away."
"What does this have to do with anything?" Sang Tianen stopped and looked at him with a helpless smile.
Yan Zheng said with tears in his eyes: "You never say such things to me normally."
"I was wrong, okay?" Sang Tianen immediately admitted his mistake, raised his hand to wipe away the tears from the corners of Yan Zheng's eyes, and coaxed him, "Okay, stop crying and go to bed obediently."
"I also want to keep vigil for grandma."
Seeing that he looked serious and that he had been in an unusual mood over the past two days, Sang Tianen agreed.
Seeing the person in front of her, she felt more at ease.
The two walked back to the front of the house, and Sang Tianen picked up a thick blanket and covered him with it: "Are you cold?"
"I'm not cold." Yan Zheng obediently let her wrap herself in the blanket, his bright eyes looking at her without blinking.
Although he was a man in his thirties, he always had the look of a teenager. Sang Tianen's heart softened: "Do you want me to give you my phone to play with?"
"No need, just tell me about grandma." Yan Zheng pulled over a small stool and looked at Sang Tianen with wide eyes.
Sang Tianen was stunned for a moment: "Why do you suddenly want to know this?"
"Because she's my grandmother. Even though I haven't met her many times, I think she must be a very good person."
Sang Tianen's expression was somewhat moved. After a few seconds of silence, he began to tell Yan Zheng about his grandmother's life.
The two chatted for a long time until the first ray of sunlight in the east broke through the dark blue night sky, and Sang Rou and Zuo Danqing got up and got busy, and then they stopped talking.
"Sister, brother-in-law, it's time for breakfast." Sang Muyang's voice came from the kitchen.
Yan Zheng subconsciously glanced at Sang Tianen. Sang Tianen's expression was indifferent, and it was impossible to tell whether he was happy or angry. After staying up all night, his double eyelids were stretched wide by fatigue, and his originally light pink lips had turned a little pale.
He touched her hand distressedly: "Let's go eat."
Sang Tianen raised his eyes and glanced in the direction of the kitchen, then hummed indifferently.
"Brother-in-law, come and sit down!" Sang Muyang greeted warmly and took the initiative to hand Yan Zheng a pair of chopsticks.
Yan Zheng took it with both hands and whispered, "Thank you!"
"You're welcome. You must be tired from keeping watch last night. Eat more." Sang Muyang pushed the plate of buns over. "These are all made by our family. They are delicious."
"Thank you." Yan Zheng thanked him again as usual.
Zuo Danqing smiled and said, "We are all family. Why are you saying thank you? Xiaoyan is too polite."
"Why didn't Xiao Qiao come?" Sang Rou, who had been eating porridge with a huff, suddenly asked.
