Chapter 71 Brother Yan

The night wind suddenly grew stronger, and a faint fishy smell came from the air, along with a slightly imperceptible dampness that penetrated into Sang Tianen's nostrils, making her mood begin to become depressed.

She hated rainy days, and hated the smell of rain even more, because it always reminded her of bad things. She pressed a button, slowly raising the roof, and then rolled up the glass window, leaving only a gap for air to pass through.

Yan Zheng was resting with his eyes closed. His nerves, which had been tense all afternoon, were slowly relaxing under the blowing of the night breeze. However, before he could enjoy it enough, the refreshing coolness suddenly disappeared.

He opened his sleepy eyes and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, "Why is the car window closed?"

"It's going to rain soon." Sang Tianen replied in a calm voice, his eyes fixed on the road conditions ahead.

Yan Zheng glanced out the window through the crack. The road surface under the streetlights appeared a grayish-white color. It was very dry and there was no rain. He was slightly surprised and said, "It shouldn't rain. The weather forecast said no rain today."

"The accuracy of the weather forecast is not 100%, and I smell that smell." Sang Tianen said firmly.

Smell? Yan Zheng's curiosity was aroused by Sang Tianen's words. He turned sideways to look at her: "What smell?"

There was a traffic light ahead. Sang Tianen stepped on the brakes and turned to Yan Zheng. "It's a damp smell, with the scent of earth and grass. If you ask carefully, you'll know. The smell before the rain is different from the smell on a sunny day."

Yan Zheng thought for two seconds, then turned around and leaned against the window slit, taking a few deep breaths. "It's indeed a little different."

"If you open the window completely, you will feel it more easily." Sang Tianen rolled down the car window.

Just then, a gust of wind blew in, and Yan Zheng clearly smelled a scent like damp earth. He slightly widened his eyes as if he had discovered a new world, turned around and looked at Sang Tianen with shining eyes and said, "Really, there really is a smell of moisture."

"Look at you, you silly guy, just like a child." Sang Tianen was amused by his childish behavior and couldn't help but teasing him.

Yan Zheng's cheeks flushed and he sat back in his original position. After a few seconds, he bit his lip and suddenly said, "I'm already 31 years old this year." He was no longer the young man full of vitality with collagen on his face.

He didn't say the rest of the words, for fear that Sang Tianen would call him hypocritical. He had never thought of himself as so sentimental before, but ever since falling in love, he had always been full of wild thoughts and worries.

Sometimes I think it would be nice if my girlfriend could be a little more gentle and romantic, but then I start to worry that if she becomes too sophisticated, she might attract other men. After all, who doesn't like a beautiful, gentle and romantic lover?

For a moment, she thought that there was a five-year age difference between them, and she was the older one who was attracted to young girls. Sang Tianen had never been in a relationship, so she didn't react for a while. When she really came to her senses, would she like young and beautiful boys?

Then I thought, if her parents knew that she was dating a man five years older than her, would they force them to break up?

As Yan Zheng thought about it, his heart began to sink little by little, and his head drooped listlessly.

At this time, the red light turned green. Sang Tianen lightly pressed the accelerator, turned the steering wheel while observing the road conditions, and for a moment she forgot to respond to Yan Zheng's words. When she drove a distance, she realized that her boyfriend had not spoken to her for a long time.

She glanced at Yan Zheng out of the corner of her eye and found that he had his head lowered, his eyelashes trembling, and she didn't know what he was thinking. So she asked with concern, "Why aren't you talking?"

"A little tired." Yan Zheng replied in a low voice, as if he was reluctant to pay attention to her.

Sang Tianen thought he was really tired, so he said softly, "If you're tired, take a nap. I'll call you when we get home."

Yan Zheng raised his head and looked at her, and suddenly said angrily: "Why don't you ask me why I feel tired?"

This question left Sang Tianen speechless. After a few seconds, he said, "Why do you feel tired?" His tone was a little helpless.

"You seem a little reluctant?" Yan Zheng narrowed his eyes slightly, as if he would be angry if Sang Tianen didn't give him a satisfactory answer in the next second.

Sang Tianen now just wanted to show the expression of an old man on the subway looking at his phone, but she restrained herself. She now suspected that there was something wrong with Yan Zheng, otherwise why would he ask her such a strange question, which was so childish that it didn't sound like what a grown man would say.

She stepped on the brakes and stopped the car on the side of the road. Holding the steering wheel with one hand, she turned around and looked at Yan Zheng, her eyes as deep as a cold pond.

Yan Zheng felt guilty when he saw her look like this. He was indeed a little unreasonable just now, and perhaps he also had a little hope in his heart, wanting to see if Sang Tianen had really changed, or whether the other party was willing to play with him.

He knew that it was inappropriate for him to have such thoughts at his age, but he just wanted Sang Tianen to coax him and do what he wanted.

However, Sang Tianen was still the same Sang Tianen, and the other party seemed to be angry, otherwise he would not have stopped the car and glared at him.

He suddenly felt aggrieved. He knew he shouldn't be so pretentious. It was obviously he who was making trouble first. Sang Tianen did nothing, not even said a word, but he just felt inexplicably aggrieved.

He turned his face away in embarrassment, not wanting the other person to see his embarrassment.

The next second, his face was gently turned over by a clean hand. Sang Tianen stared at the crystal in his eyes, frowned slightly and asked, "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." Yan Zheng gave a stiff smile, but there was a glimmer of light in his eyes.

Sang Tianen pursed his lips and quickly recalled the conversation between the two of them. It seemed that something was wrong from the moment the other party said, "I'm already 31 years old this year."

It seemed that this was the problem. Sang Tianen never liked beating around the bush. He simply held Yan Zheng's face in his hands and made him look at him, saying, "Aging is a natural law. It's unnecessary to suffer because of something like this."

"It's not because of this." Yan Zheng lowered his eyelids and said softly.

"Why is that?"

"I'm thirty-one, and you're only twenty-six. I'm a full five years older than you."

So it was because of this. Sang Tianen breathed a sigh of relief. The men in this female-dominated world have really complicated thoughts, which ordinary people really can't guess.

Sang Tianen stared at the aggrieved man in front of her. A scene from an idol drama suddenly flashed through her mind. Her eyes dimmed, and she suddenly leaned close to Yan Zheng's ear and blew a breath, saying, "Can I call you Brother Yan from now on?"
