Chapter 96 Meeting with a Lawyer

"Manager Sun called you. I told her that you had an emergency at home and couldn't go back for the time being. You will probably need to take ten days or half a month off." Yan Zheng replied.

"My master will go crazy!" Sang Tianen said with a smile, "I guess when I return, I will either pack up and leave, or be scolded for three days and three nights."

"She was really angry and said you didn't have to go back."

"What about you? Will the leader agree to take so many days off?" Sang Tianen asked.

"How can I concentrate on work when you're like this now?" Yan Zheng said, pursing his lips.

Sang Tianen sighed and consoled him, "No matter what the outcome is, eat when you should, drink when you should, and don't ruin your health because of what happened to me."

Hearing Sang Tianen's as if nothing had happened, Yan Zheng's emotions, which had been suppressed for several days, suddenly got out of control. He asked in a tearful voice, "Aren't you worried about yourself at all?"

Sang Tianen smiled faintly: "Baby, I am innocent, so there is no need to worry at all. The police will clear my name sooner or later."

Yan Zheng turned his face away with tears in his eyes. The lawyer next to him handed him a handkerchief. Yan Zheng took it and wiped his wet eyes, whispering, "Thank you!"

Sang Tianen's eyes flashed and her fingers moved slightly, but she could do nothing because of the thick glass. She could only watch Yan Zheng sobbing softly, and a deep feeling of powerlessness filled her limbs.

After Yan Zheng calmed down, Sang Tianen suggested talking to the lawyer alone. Although Yan Zheng had doubts in his heart, he obediently chose to leave first.

According to the law, prison visits are usually limited to 30 minutes. Sang Tianen didn't have much time left, so he asked his lawyer directly, "Why did Zuo Xia go out so late? What does the police have to say?"

The lawyer was stunned. For some reason, she suddenly felt that the woman in front of her had become different. Although her tone was calm, her eyes carried a hint of oppression.

He had no choice but to straighten his back and said seriously, "I'm sorry, because the case is still in the investigation stage, as a lawyer I don't have the right to access the relevant case files from the police."

It seems that his eyes went dark and he knew nothing. Sang Tianen smiled, but there was no smile in his eyes, and there was even a hint of coldness.

After a few seconds, he said, "I remember there was a dagger at the scene, stained with blood. Zuo Xia wasn't wearing gloves at the time. This should be evidence to prove my innocence, right?"

"If the police could extract Wang Chen's DNA and Zuo Xia's fingerprints from it, it could indeed become key evidence. However, the fact is that the police have also listed you as a suspect."

At this point, the lawyer's eyes narrowed slightly, and her expression suddenly became subtle. She said with a hint of meaning, "Ms. Sang, could you please tell me the whole story in detail?"

When the lawyer came just now, the two of them only had a brief talk, and then Yan Zheng lost control of his emotions, so they didn't have time to discuss some details.

Sang Tianen then recounted the entire incident to the lawyer. When she mentioned how she had knocked the dagger out of Zuo Xia's hand in self-defense, her voice suddenly paused. She raised her head abruptly and shouted, "I picked up that dagger!"

"Yes, I remember now. I picked up this dagger!" Sang Tianen repeated what he had just said. "At that time, I was fighting with Zuo Xia. She was holding my neck tightly. I could only pick up the dagger next to me and stab her."

The lawyer's expression grew serious. "Have you told the police about this?"

Sang Tianen shook his head and smiled bitterly, "I was so flustered at the time that I didn't think about it at all."

The lawyer's eyes darkened. "Ms. Sang, I am your attorney. No one in this world wants you to be cleared of the charges more than I do. Therefore, I implore you to tell me the whole truth!"

Sang Tianen stopped talking and leaned back in the chair. His expression suddenly became playful. "Do you think I'm lying to you?"

"What's the first reaction of a normal person upon seeing a stabbing attacker?" the lawyer emphasized. "Call for help. But you didn't do that during the entire incident. What does that tell you?"

"I learned Taekwondo for a few years and thought I could subdue her," Sang Tianen explained.

"Really?" The lawyer's lips curled up in a mocking arc. "You're being strangled by another person, and you still think you can subdue her?"

Sang Tianen's expression changed. After a long while, he pinched the bridge of his nose wearily and said, "Actually, I have a serious mental disorder. I was out of control when it happened, so I didn't call for help."

The lawyer looked surprised.

"I suffered physical abuse for a long time," Sang Tianen said slowly. "Even though many years have passed, the shadow still remains."

"After Zuo Xia punched me a few times, I couldn't control myself anymore. I only recalled a lot of the details in the past couple of days, but I can confirm that I didn't hurt Wang Chen."

After listening to Sang Tianen's narration, the lawyer took a breath and said sincerely: "I'm sorry!"

"Nothing." Sang Tianen smiled indifferently. "I feel a lot more relaxed today because I can confide in you. I thought I would carry this secret for the rest of my life, but it was revealed because of something like this. Maybe God sees how hard I've been working and wants me to relax a little."

"The fact that you think this way shows that you are slowly letting go of it," the lawyer said considerately.

At this time, the guarding policeman reminded the two that the time was up. The lawyer stood up and said, "I will visit the victim's family and see if I can find a breakthrough in the case."

Sang Tianen nodded at her, and then was taken back to the cell from the visiting room by the police.

The cell was a small, separate room, very narrow, with the toilet and sink squeezed together, a wooden bed against the wall, and a window on the wall.

She was the only one living here. She had previously thought that she would not be able to sleep because of her mysophobia, but in fact, after staying up for two nights, she slept better than a dead pig.

All her previous bad habits were now gone, and she didn't know whether she should cry or laugh.

Self-deprecating aside, the whole story and the doubts still needed to be sorted out. Sang Tianen sat cross-legged on the bed and began to quietly think about everything that had happened in the past few days.

The case itself is not a complicated one, but it is mixed with too many coincidences, and she is just an unlucky person caused by multiple coincidences.

What exactly happened between Wang Chen and Zuo Xia?

Why did Zuo Xia want to kill Wang Chen?

What exactly happened that night?
