Chapter 122 Meeting the Parents

Yan Zheng burst out laughing, his eyes narrowed into crescents, and he smiled: "As expected of a novelist, you have a very rich imagination."

Sang Tianen's smile froze, and he said unhappily, "You're really bringing up something irrelevant."

The car soon drove to the sixth house. A dark golden door of the same style as the gate of the community appeared in front of Sang Tianen. Above the door hung a plaque written in traditional Chinese characters - Yan's House.

As if the sound of a car was heard, hurried footsteps were heard in the house, and the half-closed door was opened with a creaky sound, and a handsome old man who was well-dressed and well-maintained walked out.

"This is my dad!" Yan Zheng introduced while unbuckling his seat belt.

Sang Tianen nodded. Even if Yan Zheng hadn't introduced them, she would have guessed that the father and son looked so similar, especially their eyes, which were exactly the same.

Sang Tianen unbuckled his seat belt, opened the car door, and gave Yan's father a shy smile: "Hello, uncle."

Father Yan's beautiful eyes looked up and down at Sang Tianen, from her hair to the shoes on her feet. Finally, he grinned with satisfaction and said, "This must be Xiao Sang. Come in and sit down. It's really hot out here."

Sang Tianen originally wanted to follow him in, but then he remembered that he had not taken the gifts he bought yet, so he hurried around to the back of the car and opened the trunk. He first took out a folding cart, and then moved all the gifts he bought onto it.

"You are here, kid. Why bring any gifts? You are so polite." Yan's father was even more satisfied. Regardless of what this person was like, judging from the fact that he had so many things, he didn't think he was a stingy person.

Yan Zheng walked over to help her. Sang Tianen handed the fragile tea set to him and said casually, "Just carry this."

Yan's father also walked over to help her get the things. Sang Tianen was flattered and immediately refused, saying, "Uncle, I can do it. The weather is too hot. Please take Xiao Zheng inside."

"It's okay, it's good to sweat and get rid of dampness." Yan's father picked up the two packages and glanced at them. They were Cordyceps and sea cucumbers, and the smile on his face deepened.

The three of them walked in talking and laughing. Looking at the huge courtyard, Sang Tianen felt a little uneasy. Yan Zheng was not a honest boy. He didn't even tell her that his family was so rich.

If she had known this, she would not have dated him. She did not want to be the daughter-in-law of a rich family. It would be difficult to have equal status if the economic situation was not equal. She just wanted to be an ordinary person who was free and earned some money.

But there is no point in saying these things now. She has killed the man. If she breaks up now, and with such a ridiculous reason as "because you are too rich", Yan Zheng will definitely kill her.

Sang Tianen suddenly remembered the quarrel between them the night before and how Yan Zheng hit her with a pillow. She couldn't help but shudder and silently lit a candle for herself in her heart.

After walking for a while, Sang Tianen was brought to the main house by Yan's father. Before he even entered the door, a large group of people came out one after another, men and women, of all ages, all looking at Sang Tianen.

The last person to come out was an old man with silver hair, tremblingly leaning on a cane, and a pretty middle-aged woman supported him.

When Yan Zheng saw the old man, he immediately smiled brightly and ran up to him, calling out, "Grandpa!"

"My dear grandson." The old man patted Yan Zheng's hand with a kind look, then turned his gaze to Sang Tianen and said, "This is Little Sang, right?"

"Yeah." Yan Zheng smiled sweetly and shook his grandfather's hand.

"Let's go in first, it's too hot." said a serious-looking woman wearing glasses.

Everyone obediently walked into the house. Sang Tianen's scalp began to tingle as she looked at the whole family. She seriously doubted that all the relatives of Yan Zheng who could be present had come.

The unanimous gazes just now were like various hidden weapons shot at her, almost causing her heart to stop. She really didn't know what to say to Yan Zheng. Why didn't he greet her in advance and just say that some relatives would come, and didn't say that there would be dozens of people.

Sang Tianen couldn't help but complain in her heart. At this time, an older man looked at her with a smile and said, "I'll do the pushing."

Sang Tianen was stunned. Father Yan had been paying attention to his future daughter-in-law and explained, "This is Uncle Zhang. Just give him the things. He will take care of it."

Only then did Sang Tianen feel at ease to hand the cart to him, and then followed everyone into the house. She began to curse Yan Zheng in her heart, thinking that this man didn't care about her as much as her father.

The reception room was not very big, but the air conditioning was on very strong. In the center of the wall hung a huge picture of green pines and strange rocks. Sang Tianen did not understand art, so he could only secretly exclaim that it was a beautiful painting.

There were fruits, snacks and tea on the coffee table. Sang Tianen sat down on the beige sofa with everyone else in a polite manner, and Yan Zheng sat next to her.

Father Yan poured Sang Tianen a cup of tea and said in a gentle tone: "I heard from Xiaozheng that you like drinking tea. This is a high mountain tea given by a friend. Try it."

Sang Tianen stood up as if his butt was burned, took the teacup with both hands and said respectfully: "Thank you, uncle."

Yan Zheng laughed and said softly, "Don't be nervous, we are all family."

Under normal circumstances, Sang Tianen would definitely say something to him, but now she let it go. She nodded slightly and said, "I understand." She looked unusually well-behaved and obedient.

Yan Zheng raised his eyebrows in surprise. Has Sang Tianen changed his character?

At this time, Grandpa coughed, and everyone's attention was drawn to him. Grandpa took a sip of tea and asked, "Who are the people in the family?"

There was a moment of silence in the air, and Yan's father's expression changed. He gently tugged at his father's sleeve. No one would be so direct right away. Besides, he had already asked his son about these things, so there was no need to ask again.

Grandpa was unmoved. He blew away the tea leaves and took another sip of tea. "Who are the people in your family?"

The air became strangely quiet again. Yan Zheng looked at his grandfather in surprise. Yan's father pointed to his head with an expression that said, "You should understand."

Sang Tianen could tell that the old man was probably suffering from Alzheimer's. He sighed imperceptibly and said, "There are five people in my family: my grandmother, my mother, my father, and my younger brother."

"Oh." Grandpa pursed his wrinkled lips. "How old is Grandma this year?"

"Seventy-eight."

"Why didn't Grandpa get it?"

"Died unexpectedly."

"Oh." Grandpa nodded slightly. "Grandpa and grandma, how long have you lived?"

Sang Tianen was a little puzzled. Why did Yan Zheng's grandfather always stare at the elders in her family and ask questions? If he had any questions, he should have asked about her situation or her parents' situation.

Perhaps because of his age, he was a little confused. Sang Tianen pursed his lips helplessly and replied, "Grandpa is eighty years old, and grandma is eighty-three. They currently live with my aunt."

Grandpa's cloudy eyes suddenly rolled around, and he said slowly, "Well, not bad."
