Dabao put his hands behind his back and walked away with his schoolbag.
He now understood Ah Man's personality. He could simply ignore her and avoid arguing with her so that his ears would be at peace. At most, she would roar twice and then stop. If he just argued with her, she would keep pestering him and arguing endlessly.
Maoqiu naturally followed him happily.
"Stinky fur ball!"
"Stinky Dabao!"
"I'm never going to play with you two again!"
Ah Man’s “never again” usually lasts less than half an incense stick of time, and by dinner time she is already chasing Maoqiu and Dabao again.
Jian Ning asked Dabao to call Dajun and his son to have dinner together. She followed Dabao and Maoqiu there. It happened that the Taifu came with Lai Xi from the headman's house. When he saw her chasing and shouting at Dabao, the Taifu frowned and his beard stood up.
"How shameful!" The Grand Tutor ordered Lai Xi, "Go and bring her to me."
"Master, please spare me. If I try to catch her, she will bite me again, and it will hurt." Lai Xi pretended to roll up his sleeves. When Ah Man made a fuss about coming to find her father Huo Jincheng, he was ordered by the Grand Tutor to catch her and lock her up in her room, where she bit him and left deep teeth marks.
"My little arm still hurts even in the wind and rain."
He didn't dare to catch Ah Man again.
"You damn slave, could it be that her teeth are poisonous?" The Grand Tutor glared at him and walked into the yard with a flick of his sleeves.
Lai Xi had no choice but to go to the clinic with Ah Man. When he arrived, Lu Huaian stuffed two red eggs into his hands.
In the afternoon, Lu Huaian dug an earthen stove outside the clinic, boiled red eggs with shaved wood, and stewed chicken for Sanniang. However, Sanniang had not farted yet, so she could not eat for the time being.
"Uncle, I want two more, and my grandfather too." Seeing that he only gave Lai Xi two eggs, Ah Man opened her mouth and asked for two more for the tutor.
In the afternoon they each have two.
Miss Sun still has the master in her heart, and Lai Xi thinks that she will have to report to the master later.
"Jun'er, go eat. Dad still has to look after your mother and brother. You can make something for yourself later." Lu Huaian brought rice and vegetables from home. He didn't expect Jian Ning to treat them to a meal. If he had known earlier, he wouldn't have brought them. It was too troublesome to cook for himself.
"Just go when I tell you to. You don't need to take care of me here." Sanniang needed to get nine bottles of IV drips, and she had just hung up the seventh one. She didn't need anyone to watch over her for the time being.
Lu Huaian was still a little embarrassed, mainly because Jian Ning confiscated his chicken and asked him to keep it for Sanniang to eat during her confinement period, so he felt embarrassed to go and felt like he was eating for free.
Sanniang gave Dajun a look, and Dajun went to pull his father, "There's no need to be so reserved in my good brother's house. Dad, come with us."
Dabao also helped to pull, and when Ah Man saw Dabao pulling, she followed suit.
As they dragged Lu Huaian out of the clinic, they ran into Ding Youtian, who had come to deliver food to Blind Liu. Hearing Lu Huaian muttering that he wasn't going to eat, to avoid causing trouble, he stopped and said with a smile, "Brother Lu, what are you talking about? Don't make us invite you three or four times. If we wait until my wife comes to invite us, that would be really troublesome."
"If we can't even invite one person, my wife will definitely scold us. Come with us quickly."
Only then did Lu Huaian follow him.
The food was served, and Jian Ning brought out a pot of wine. Lu Huaian didn't drink, so Ding Youtian accompanied the Grand Tutor. With the Grand Tutor around, Meixiang became much more obedient and diligent, not even daring to glance at Ding Youtian.
"I heard that you tell stories to children every night. What are you telling stories about..." The Taifu took a sip of wine and looked at Jian Ning and asked.
"Journey to the West."
Ding Youtian replied on behalf of Jian Ning.
"My wife's hometown is a magical place. Her mind is filled with local stories. Unfortunately, she was too young to be separated from her parents. She doesn't know which state or county she is from, and now she has no way to find her relatives."
Oh? Hearing him say that Jian Ning was separated from his parents when he was young, the Taifu's heart moved, and he couldn't help but look at Jian Ning secretly.
He had previously felt that Ding Youtian's aura was very similar to someone he knew, but he just couldn't place who it was. Now, looking at Jian Ning, perhaps because he suspected she was the lost legitimate daughter of Prince Pingnan, he actually noticed that her aura bore a resemblance to the Prince of Pingnan.
However, there is no resemblance in their facial features.
Could it be that he looks like Princess Pingnan?
But Princess Pingnan had been insane since her daughter's disappearance, and she had stopped seeing guests. All matters at the palace were handled by the concubine. The Imperial Tutor had met Princess Pingnan once before, when the Prince of Pingnan was still the General of Zhennan. The Imperial Tutor couldn't recall what the General's wife looked like, having only glimpsed her through a curtain. How could he possibly remember?
Unless Ah Man's grandmother was around, she had met her several times.
"What do your parents do?"
"We are all farmers. My parents don't love me much anymore after I had a younger brother, and I don't want to go look for them."
Jian Ning sensed the Grand Tutor's sly observation, and a sudden thought occurred to her: perhaps the Grand Tutor knew her original body's parents and felt a resemblance between them. While she possessed the original body's physical form, she wasn't the original after all, and she worried that the original body's parents might also be top-tier, which would be troublesome. So, she didn't want to say much, as she knew that too much would lead to mistakes, so she simply brushed it off with a few words.
When the Grand Tutor heard that she was a farmer, he thought that things in the world were not so coincidental, and that the Prince of Pingnan had found his daughter by accident, whom he had been unable to find anywhere.
I guess he was overthinking it.
After dinner, the Grand Tutor asked Ah Man, "Do you want to live in town with me?" As if worried that she wouldn't want to go with him, the Grand Tutor added, "Come back tomorrow morning."
Ah Man tilted his head and thought, "Okay."
Jane Ning didn't expect her to agree, and thought she would refuse.
