"What happened?" Upon hearing Ding Zhu's cries, Liu was the first to rush out. When she saw her face covered in scars, she was stunned for a moment, then rushed towards her, crying as if she was being pinched by a ghost, "Who hit you? Tell me, who made you like this?"
"Where's my fifth uncle? It's all his fault! I won't live any longer, wuwu... He's crippled my master's legs. What am I going to do in the future, mother?"
Ding Zhu stomped her feet, twisted her body and cried loudly.
When Mrs. Liu heard this, she was furious. Her daughter, Zhu'er, had only enjoyed a few days of good life since marrying into the town, and now it had all been ruined by Lao Wu! She wanted to confront Mrs. Lu, but she hadn't been seen since morning. She searched everywhere, front and back of the house.
"I don't know where that damned Lao Wu went that day!"
"Is my master not here?"
Yang Wuqi followed in, his heart sinking at Liu's words. Without Feng Qingzi, trying to stop the palace guards from retreating to the palace on his own would be like trying to stop a chariot with a mantis arm. Today wasn't the day his master's powers were completely lost, so he shouldn't have disappeared. He was completely bewildered.
"Uncle Yang, don't you know where my fifth uncle went? I haven't seen my fifth aunt either. Could they have gone to town?" Ding Gui ran over and said.
Upon hearing this, Yang Wuqi thought it might be possible. His master's temperament had changed. Prince Yong's mansion was filled with beautiful women, and he had never before seen his master look directly at anyone. But since possessing Ding Laowu, he had discovered that his master had become a completely different person when it came to women. He couldn't move his eyes when he saw a woman.
He might not even look at a woman like Lu. His master had just returned from Prince Zhao's mansion after a good time the other day, and when he saw Lu, he pounced on her in broad daylight.
Maybe if the woman pestered him, his master would really take her to the town to buy rouge, powder and other things. He might as well wait here. After all, he had paid for the food, so it would be a waste if he didn't eat.
Yang Wuqi was starving, so he headed straight for the kitchen. It was the La Festival, and Liu had just taken a whole stewed chicken from the pot for the gods and ancestors. Hearing Ding Zhu crying, she hurried out, not even getting the chicken to the main room. When Yang Wuqi entered, Gao and Ding Quan were drooling over the stewed chicken. Gao wanted to quietly tear off some meat, but she didn't know how to do it without being seen.
She was hesitant about the stewed chicken. Yang Wuqi came over, took a look, tore off a chicken leg and stuffed it into his mouth. When Ding Quan saw this, he quickly tore off another chicken leg and ran away.
"Oh my god!" Gao screamed and ran out when she saw Ding Quan running away, almost bumping into Meng.
Meng had been swearing at home all morning, and only stopped before Ding Zhu arrived, because she was mad at Lu for abandoning her one-year-old daughter, Xing'er. She didn't think the fifth brother would take Lu to town. She had asked Gao and the third brother, and since the fifth brother and his wife hadn't argued that night, she assumed the fifth brother's gambling addiction had kicked in and he'd probably gone to town to gamble before daybreak.
As for Mrs. Lu, she must have woken up and found that Lao Wu was not there. She guessed that he had gone to gamble, so she ran back to her parents' home quietly and angrily.
It's not like the Lu family hasn't done something like this before.
She and Old Dingtou heard Ding Zhu crying in the room and had originally decided not to come out to deal with it, thinking that their Wu'er was making a lot of money now and there was no need for them to curry favor with Wu Fengfu. She came out when she heard Yang Wuqi's voice, intending to send him to the gambling house in town to retrieve Lao Wu, but she heard something strange in the kitchen and turned to the kitchen, where she was almost knocked down by Gao.
"Why are you yelling during the holidays?" She grabbed Gao and was about to hit her, but before she could raise her hand, Liu rushed over yelling and dove into the kitchen.
What the hell are you all doing? Meng angrily pushed Gao aside, twisting her hips as she reached the kitchen door when Liu flew out and hit her. As she climbed to her feet, cursing, the eldest, second, and third brothers all rushed over.
"You son of a bitch! Who allowed you to eat the sacrifice?" The boss rushed over and saw Yang Wuqi with bulging cheeks. He was so angry that he rushed in and raised his fist to beat him.
The second and third brothers also rushed forward.
They were no match for Yang Wuqi, and he sent them flying one by one. Having spent a night freezing and starving on the mountain, and having suffered at the hands of the palace guards, Yang Wuqi harbored resentment towards his master, Feng Qingzi. He took a woman to town and left them out on the mountain to face the northwest wind. Starving and cold, he didn't care about anything else. He would beat anyone who dared to stop him from eating, and he would beat them first.
He still couldn't believe that his master would turn against him for this family. Besides, he had paid for their food!
"Oh, old man, this is terrible!" Meng sat down on the ground, slapping her legs and crying.
Ding Gui and Ding Quan were hiding in the side yard, gnawing on chicken legs. When they heard something strange coming from this side, they ran over. Ding Quan saw his eldest uncle, second uncle, and his own father lying on the ground wailing. He tugged at Ding Gui's sleeve and said, "Brother, he beat up our father. Beat him up! Didn't your fifth uncle teach you kung fu? Beat him up!"
Before he finished speaking, Ding Gui was already screaming and trying to rush to the kitchen, but he couldn't get in because Gao grabbed him.
"You can!" Gao glared at him fiercely and lowered her voice, "He's your fifth uncle's apprentice. Your fifth uncle taught you one move, but I don't know how many moves he taught you. How can you be his match? Besides, your fifth uncle is not a good person. He didn't know any martial arts before, but suddenly he can do it. Who knows, he might be practicing some evil magic. Stay away from him, do you understand?"
After hearing what his mother said, Ding Gui felt as if someone poured a bucket of cold water on his head. Yes, Yang Wuqi was the apprentice of his fifth uncle, and his kung fu must be better than his. It seemed that his fifth uncle was the best in the world, Yang Wuqi was the second, and he could only be ranked third!
"Master."
He turned around and saw Old Ding coming out with a stick. Old Ding had not fully recovered from the stroke. When he came out and saw his sons being knocked to the ground, he was not so sad or angry, but when he saw Yang Wuqi eating the sacrifice, he almost vomited blood!
That was an offering to the gods to honor his ancestors. He was so angry that he stabbed the ground with his stick and shouted, "Where's Lao Wu? Go and bring that beast back to me, go!"
"Dad, don't worry, I'll go right away." The eldest brother dusted himself off and just as he stepped to the gate of the courtyard, he was stopped by several ferocious-looking yamen runners.
Behind the yamen runners were several burly women who had come to arrest Ding Zhu. Wu Fengfu had betrayed Ding Zhu. The woman in the lead glanced at everyone in the courtyard, and when her eyes landed on Ding Zhu, she asked, "Who is Ding Zhu?"
Ding Zhu thought about her youth and beauty, and assumed Wu Fengfu had regretted his decision and sent the maids to take her back to continue her life. She didn't want to be so rude. She didn't want to stay even a minute in this poor house. This house looked unfit for human habitation. It was nothing compared to Wu Fengfu's blue brick and red tile house.
She took a few steps forward, puffed out her chest, and said crisply, "It's me, I'm Ding Zhu."
