Chapter 409: Turning Enemies into Friends

"Where are you from and where are you going?" Seeing how miserable they looked, Jian Ning guessed that they were probably returning empty-handed. Mrs. Meng didn't give them any travel expenses. She was so stingy towards her own son and daughter-in-law. What was the difference between her parents?

It seems that there are many weird parents in ancient and modern times.

This made Jian Ning feel a little sympathetic. "You two are going back, right? There are still dozens of miles to go. It would be too tiring to walk back on foot. If you two are willing, please find a shady place to wait for a while. I'll go to the county to buy some things and take you two with me later."

"Ah, are you taking this seriously?" Liu couldn't believe what she heard. Has Jian changed her personality or is she deliberately teasing them?

The eldest brother couldn't believe it and turned to look at Master Ding San.

"Find a place here to wait. We are all from the same village. Mrs. Youtian is very kind. Just remember her kindness in the future." Uncle Ding said happily.

"Yeah, I'll remember. I definitely will." The eldest brother nodded hurriedly, and then pulled Liu, who was still in a daze, and said, "We will definitely remember it. We dare not forget it, and we can't forget it."

"Yes, I won't forget, I won't forget." Liu was now certain that Jian Ning really wanted to take them back, and her face suddenly broke into a smile. "Then we'll wait here. You do your thing, and don't worry about us. It doesn't matter how long it takes, there's no rush."

"It won't take long, half an hour at most." Jian Ning turned his head and pointed at a big tree on the side of the road. "Go sit under the tree and wait for us. We'll be here soon."

The two of them happily agreed and walked towards the tree. After Jian Ning and the others had left, Liu suddenly had an idea and patted the eldest brother. "Oh no! Do you think the inn that Sixth Brother runs might belong to Fourth Brother? No, it belongs to Ding Youtian and Jian? Maybe they asked Sixth Brother and his wife to help run it. Sixth Brother was raised by Jian since he was a child, and she has always been very kind to him. Do you think this is possible?"

The eldest brother sat under a tree with his shirt open, pulling up a corner of the hem. He wiped the sweat from his face and neck while frowning and said, "If it really is the fourth brother and his friends, then this is bad news. We followed our parents here and offended them again. What should we do?"

Mrs. Liu thought about it and said, "Maybe I'm overthinking it. If it really is theirs, Mrs. Jian would have seen us coming from the county town and would have guessed where we came from. How could she have been willing to take us back with her? It's definitely not theirs. Don't scare yourself."

"That's right. Given her current personality, she definitely wouldn't take us with her. But no matter what, we have to appreciate her kindness today. After this loss, we have to be more careful and never dare to go against them again. Never do anything our parents ask us to do again. There will be no good end, only suffering!"

"Bah! There are no such cruel parents in the world! Stay away from them from now on, it's bad luck!"

The eldest brother's anger rose as he recalled the time his father had grabbed Liu's hair and dragged her out of the car without explanation. As a married couple, he usually didn't feel anything when they hadn't experienced anything, but today, when he was slapped and Liu rushed over to vent her anger, it really touched him deeply.

The person who truly loves and protects him has to be his first wife!

The boss' eyes were a little moist. He wanted to say something to express his opinion, but he found it difficult to speak.

After a while, he said, "If I fight you again, I will be struck by lightning!"

"His father! What are you talking about? You're being nice, but you're saying this. It's really scary. If anything happens to you, who will I rely on? No need to talk about this anymore, okay? Our family must be fine. From now on, we must stick close to the Jian family and stay away from our parents. Don't get involved with them anymore. From now on, you'll have to watch me and see how I deal with them. Don't be soft-hearted and side with them."

"What a pair of wicked and heartless bastards! They shall not perish haplessly!"

Listening to Liu scolding his parents, the eldest brother felt uncomfortable. It was really weird. He obviously hated his parents, so why did he feel uncomfortable when he heard Liu cursing his parents like this?

He opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but ended up holding it back.

The two chatted, feeling more relaxed, but their minds were blazing with the empty city plan. Since they weren't working in the fields today, Liu had gotten up early and made some thin porridge. It was called porridge, but it was practically rice soup. I'd thought I'd be worried about not having a good meal after arriving at the inn with my parents. I'd planned on getting a bargain, but ended up like this.

Liu's hatred for Meng surged even more intensely, and she secretly vowed to go back and teach Meng a lesson.

When the two were so hungry that they didn't want to talk, Mr. Ding San came in a carriage. What Liu and the eldest brother didn't expect was that Jian Ning also packed some food for them.

The meal was prepared by the inn's chef. When Jane Ning was eating, she remembered that the eldest couple might still be hungry, so she asked the sixth brother to pack a portion for them.

Be a good person to the end. As long as they don't follow Old Ding and Mrs. Meng to oppose them in the future, it is always better to have more friends than more enemies.

"Eat it, it's still hot." Jane Ning was afraid that they would feel embarrassed, so she sat outside and left the carriage for the couple.

The eldest brother and Liu were so moved that they ate voraciously, crying as they ate.

After finishing her meal, Liu wiped her mouth and called out, "Sixth brother... Wife Youtian, thank you so much. To be honest, we've been hungry for a long time. We are all kind-hearted, and we are no exception. From now on, if there is anything we can do for you, as long as we can help, you and Brother Youtian can just ask, and we will do our best to help you."

"If you have any second thoughts, you are not a human being!"

Jian Ning turned her head and said through the car curtain: "We are all from the same village. We will see each other sooner or later. Don't say such unconventional words."

After saying that, Jian Ning didn't say anything else to her. He would ignore whatever she said if he could and let her perform a solo. It was better to keep a distance.

Liu said a few words and when she saw that she didn't respond much, she stopped talking.

After the carriage entered the village, Jian Ning quietly asked Mr. Ding San to take them to the door of their home. When they got off the carriage, Meng Shi happened to see them while she was hanging clothes in the yard.

Meng thought they had run into Jian Ning on their way to town, so she shamelessly begged Jian Ning to give them a ride. When the eldest brother and Liu entered the yard, she rushed over in a rage, pointed at them, and cursed, "You shameless bastards! Have you ever ridden in a carriage? You're already in town, are you going to die if you walk back?"

As she spoke, she leaped forward, tugged at the eldest brother's coat, and shoved him, cursing, "Why did I give birth to such a hopeless thing like you? Didn't you see how that whore bullied your father and mother? Or what? I'll beat you to death, you heartless bastard!"

She slapped the boss twice, one on the shoulder and the other on the chin.

The old man was furious. Before he could lash out, Liu rushed over, grabbed Meng's arm, and pushed her to the ground with both hands.
