Chapter 591: Life is not destined to end

"It's the Bee Goddess." Sanniu handed the porcelain vase to Qiaofeng. "Look, there are several of them. I held them all in my hands. Second sister didn't dare to hold them because she was afraid. So I held them all by myself."

Sanniu's little face was full of pride.

But Erniu was unhappy. She put on a stern face and corrected Sanniu, "I'm not afraid, I'm..." She tilted her head, "I don't want to be praised."

She turned her head and saw Chun'er kneeling in front of the door. She quickly took Sanniu's hand and pointed at Chun'er with the other hand, "Look, Chun'er is kneeling there. Did your aunt punish her?"

Sanniu glanced at Chun'er, shook off Erniu's hand, and said angrily, "Didn't we agree that if she scolds our mother, she is no longer our aunt? If you call her aunt again, I won't play with you anymore!"

"Okay." Erniu took Sanniu's hand again, "I just forgot. Then how about we play with Sister Chun'er? She hasn't scolded our mother. Do you want to play with her?"

Sanniu was also confused. She looked up at Qiaofeng, whose face turned red. She always told them not to fight and to talk things out, but today she had a fight with Duan Xinyan.

She suddenly felt a little embarrassed to face them. "I'll go to the kitchen to clean up. You two can go play by yourselves."

Qiaofeng ran to the kitchen and sat on a small stool in front of the stove, chin in her hand, wondering if she had done anything wrong today. No matter what, Duan Xinyan was her master's half-sister. Her grandfather had always told her that one should be grateful and repay kindness, but she had hit Duan Xinyan, and it seemed like she had caused trouble for her master. Duan Xinyan was still throwing a tantrum at her master.

Although the master would not indulge Duan Xinyan, Qiaofeng realized that she was relying on the master's power and the fact that the master loved her and therefore did not take Duan Xinyan seriously. This was wrong and extremely dangerous.

The reason why she became a beggar was because her grandparents relied on her father's power to make a fortune and accepted bribes behind her father's back, oppressing the people, and finally the whole family was executed.

Qiaofeng was able to survive thanks to an old beggar from the county, who later died of poisoning in Dingxian Village. The old beggar had once been a benefactor to Qiaofeng. One winter, when Qiaofeng was still called Hu Xueling and had just turned five, the old beggar, starving and cold, collapsed on the street. Qiaofeng, passing by with her mother who was caring for her, saw that he was near death and asked her mother to give him the money she had saved for buying pastries.

The old beggar was a grateful man and always remembered Qiaofeng's life-saving grace. After Qiaofeng's family was imprisoned, he went to the jailer every day to ask for help, and stuffed the few copper coins he had begged into the jailer, and asked him to send some good food to Qiaofeng.

Qiaofeng's fate was not destined to end. The jailer was gradually moved by the old beggar's act of gratitude and even felt pity for her. After the emperor decided to make an example of Hu Zhixian and his entire family to serve as a warning to other officials, the jailer told the old beggar that he would give Qiaofeng a fake death pill on the day of the execution and told him to go to the mass grave in the middle of the night and dig Qiaofeng out.

The old beggar really went, and Qiaofeng was able to survive. After that, she followed the old beggar to the neighboring county under a false name to make a living by begging.

Several years of begging tempered Qiaofeng's character. She went from being a carefree daughter of an official family who had no shortage of food and clothing to understanding the hardships of every meal. She also tasted the dangers of the world prematurely and matured prematurely.

Precocity is both a blessing and a curse. It shortened Qiaofeng's carefree childhood and prolonged the vicissitudes of life, but it also taught Qiaofeng how to grow tenaciously in difficult situations, as tough as weeds.

The old beggar didn't teach Qiaofeng anything else, but he taught her gratitude. If it weren't for Jian Ning, she might still be begging now. She is reflecting on herself here, wondering if she should go and admit her mistake to her master. Over there, Erniu and Sanniu saw Jian Ning enter the room where Duan Xinyan lived, and they followed her.

"Wow, my aunt has also become a clown?" Erniu saw that Duan Xinyan's face was scratched. She was familiar with this clown. She had been scratched by Sanniu several times, and Sanniu's face had also been scratched by her. She turned around to look at Sanniu, holding her stomach and giggling.

Sanniu also laughed, completely ignoring that Erniu called Duan Xinyan "Auntie". The two kids giggled at each other and even bent over with laughter.

Just as Jian Ning was about to scold them and kick them out, Duan Xinyan spoke first, scowling and shouting, "What are you laughing at? Are you two going to fight?"

Erniu and Sanniu laughed even harder, and they put their arms around each other's shoulders and giggled. Although Jian Ning wanted to laugh too, she held back, "You two, get out of here and stop making trouble."

After saying that, Jian Ning glanced at the medicine on the table and said to Duan Xinyan, "Since you're afraid that I've poisoned the medicine to ruin your face, then I'll take the medicine away and you don't need to use it anymore."

"This is a good medicine." Erniu was familiar with the medicine. She grabbed the ointment on the table and told Duan Xinyan, "My sister and I have both used it. After applying this medicine, our faces will be better."

Duan Xinyan snatched the medicine, twisted her waist, turned her back to the three of them, and said angrily, "Let's go, I don't want to see you!"

Jian Ning remembered that she was scratched by Qiao Feng and didn't want to bother with her. She called Erniu and Sanniu and asked them to go out with her. Her eyes fell on the porcelain bottle in Sanniu's hand. She had heard a buzzing sound coming from it and knew it was a bee. Just as she was about to say something, Ding Youtian's voice was heard in the yard.

"Why are you kneeling there?" Ding Youtian came over from the front yard and saw Chun'er kneeling there. He thought that Duan Xinyan was punishing her by making her kneel down.

"I told her to kneel." Jian Ning came out of the room and glanced at Chun'er. "Do you know you're wrong?" Chun'er lowered her head and turned to Jian Ning. "My lady, I know I was wrong." Jian Ning frowned slightly. "Remember this, you are not allowed to call yourself a servant in front of me. Now that you know you're wrong, get up and go apply medicine to your lady."

Ding Youtian curled his lips, looked away, and walked quickly towards the cafeteria, shouting that he was starving. Guoguo and Baimei rushed into the cafeteria before him. Erlangzi, who still had rice in his mouth, was about to stand up when he saw him approaching, but Ding Youtian waved his hand and said, "Eat yours."

"Master, do we need to reheat the food?" Qiaofeng asked as she came over from the kitchen.

"No need." Ding Youtian tugged at his sleeves. "Go and do your own thing. Don't bother with us."

"Master..." Qiao Feng went to meet Jian Ning who was walking over. "I was wrong. I shouldn't have hit Miss Xin Yan. From now on, I won't fight with her or argue with her."

"Wow, Sister Qiaofeng, did you have a fight with my aunt?" Erniu's eyes lit up when she heard it. "Then you can't say that about me and my sister anymore. You had a fight yourself."

"Who said that?" Jian Ning glanced at Erniu, "Sister Qiaofeng is older than you two, so mother let her take care of you two, especially you, who is the most worrying."

"Daddy is the one who worries the most, not me!" Erniu protested, "Grandpa and grandma used to say that Daddy is the one who worries the most in the whole family!"

"Second sister, are you itching again?" Ding Youtian scolded.

Erniu grabbed Sanniu and ran off towards Lu's house in the west backyard. The two little silver foxes followed them eagerly. Not long after, earth-shattering cries erupted from the west backyard.

Ding Youtian hadn't finished his bowl of rice yet when he came out holding the bowl, and saw Hong Gu running towards him with a panicked look on her face, holding Erniu who was crying loudly.
