Ding Youtian went to the kitchen and sent Erniu and Sanniu away from the fire, asking them to go and chat with Ding Yang. After Erniu and Sanniu left, Jian Ning turned to look at him and asked, "What's wrong? What happened?"
"Quickly send a letter to Brother Ma and ask him to find Jincheng to confirm whether Grandma Ma is still imprisoned in the Sky Prison."
After all the quacks in Prince Yong's mansion were apprehended, Jian Ning asked Ma Fuquan to confirm whether his teacher, Grandma Ma, who had served as the magistrate of the Yangtze River, had been apprehended. He also sent Ma Fuquan a portrait of Grandma Ma painted by Ding Youtian.
Ma Fuquan could draw a little, and although he was fine with mechanical drawings, he wasn't so good at portraits. He gave Huo Jincheng a rough description of her appearance, and Huo Jincheng assured him that Grandma Ma was a target ordered by the Southern Prime Minister and had been captured that very night.
Jian Ning didn't know why Ding Youtian mentioned Grandma Ma again, but she knew he had a reason for it. Without wasting a second, she sent a message to Ma Fuquan, asking him to inform Huo Jincheng to go to the prison in person to check and confirm whether the person was still imprisoned there.
Ma Fuquan replied that he would go with them to take a look.
After Ding Yang finished his meal and Jian Ning cleared the dishes and took them to the kitchen, Ma Fuquan's reply came. The person imprisoned in the Sky Prison was Ma Lao's substitute, just a maid in Prince Yong's Mansion. Because she looked very similar to Ma Lao, she was taken in as a disciple and taught her some minor unorthodox kung fu.
"Oh no, Manager Chen must have heard Manager Tong mention her when he was in Danyang. I'm afraid he followed her to Shangjing. I'm going to find Shouzheng." After Ding Youtian said this, he went to the front yard to call Tong Bajin and left in a hurry.
After discussion between Ding Youtian and Shouzheng, Tong Bajin led a team of about ten people selected from the yamen runners and city defense soldiers. The group disguised themselves as a merchant caravan and went to Jishui overnight, and then went to Shangjing, the capital of Yue Kingdom, via Jishui.
That evening, Huo Jincheng rode Qiu Ge to the Xing'an County government office, bearing a message from Yongkang, the second emperor of the Great Yan Dynasty. Yongkang, with a resolute attitude, had reached the limit of his patience with the Yue Kingdom's repeated provocations in recent years. He ordered Huo Jincheng to inform Ding Youtian that Ma Lao was a criminal of the Great Yan Dynasty and to dispatch a swift envoy to the Yue Kingdom, demanding that they hand over Ma Lao and escort her back to the capital.
"I'll go. I'll ride on Brother Qiu." Jian Ning had saved Pei Xiyuan and was also the Princess An Ning conferred by the late emperor. Ding Youtian felt that it was okay for her to go, but he was worried about her going alone.
"I'll go with my wife," he said.
"No, you can't." Huo Jincheng objected. "You are the head of a county. A country cannot be without a ruler for a day, and a city cannot be without a master for a day. This trip is not something that can be resolved in a day or two. I'd better go with your wife."
Ding Youtian thought for a moment and nodded, "Okay, then you go."
After saying that, he nodded his chin towards Huo Jincheng and told Jian Ning, "Take good care of Jincheng. Don't let anything happen to him."
"What are you talking about?" Huo Jincheng's face fell. "How dare I, a man of seven feet tall, give way to someone...Okay, let's go. I don't want to argue with you."
Although he wisely swallowed the rest of his words, Jane Ning still gave him a displeased look.
"I'm going to change my clothes." When Jian Ning came out, she heard Xiao Chuntian crying at the top of her lungs, followed by Duan Xinyan's scolding.
It turned out that Qiu Ge was impatiently roaming around the yard. He made a lot of noise but Guo Guo didn't show up. His tail flicked here and there, and his two tongues were long. Erlangzi's foolish husband happily carried little Chuntian out to see the big snake. Oh my god, he scared the child so much that he burst into tears, and then Duan Xinyan scolded him.
"Okay, go back to the house. Don't do such stupid things next time. Not every child is brave enough to not be afraid of snakes." Jian Ning drove the three of them back to the house, and then went back to the house to change clothes, put on a cloak, and put the headdress she wore when she was conferred the title of princess into the herb room.
Although they did not go to Yue Country to ask for someone through normal official channels, going abroad represented a grand banquet, so they had to dress solemnly and not lose the demeanor of a great country.
"Take Guo'er and Baimei with you." Ding Youtian said after she came out.
"No need." Jane Ning shook her head. If the two countries really go to war, they might need them. It would be better not to let them expose their skills for now.
Jian Ning and Huo Jincheng rode on Brother Qiu one after the other. A few years later, when she rode on Brother Qiu again, Brother Qiu suddenly calmed down and was no longer anxious. He even turned his head and rubbed her affectionately.
"This beast is close to you." Huo Jincheng blurted out.
"Don't blame me for not reminding you. Brother Qiu understands what people say. Be careful or it will throw you off if you turn around." Jian Ning patted Brother Qiu, "Let's go, fly towards that direction."
"Madam, be careful!" Ding Youtian shouted looking up.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine."
Qiu Ge was already soaring higher and higher as he shook his head and wagged his tail. Soon, he was carrying Jian Ning and Huo Jincheng away, gradually disappearing from Ding Youtian's sight...
When Jian Ning first arrived in Xing'an County, he had examined a map of the Yue Kingdom's territory. The Shangjing (Shangjing) capital of the Yue Kingdom occupied a relatively large area, while the other counties and prefectures, as marked, were much smaller than those of the Yan Dynasty. Jian Ning had heard from some elders in Xing'an County that the Yue people, while disdaining the elaborate rituals and customs of the Central Plains, were also prone to copying them.
In the past, Yue Kingdom did not divide cities into counties, but imitated the people of the Central Plains.
The deeper they got into Moon Country, the more excited Brother Qiu became. Jane Ning remembered that the Ganao Tribe had once been in Moon Country. Could it be that Brother Qiu had returned to his old nest? She leaned forward and said, "Brother Qiu, you've taken us to Shangjing. If you want to go back and visit, go ahead. Just remember to pick us up."
"No!" Huo Jincheng shouted against the wind, "It's about to fly away and won't come back. Even if I ride a fast horse back to the capital, it will take quite some time. Won't that delay things?"
Brother Qiu was so happy after hearing what Jian Ning said that his two heads were twisted in the air. Jian Ning stroked his back and ignored Huo Jincheng's words.
