Chapter 139 The Shocked Sheriff

Sheriff Frank went over to check on him, his thick eyebrows almost knitted together, and he looked astonished: "Sophia, what happened to Mr. Potter? How did he end up like this?"

Sophia recounted what had happened, which made Sheriff Frank's eyes widen in astonishment.

The other two policemen were even more astonished, their faces filled with shock, as if they were listening to gibberish.

“Mary Shaw?” Sheriff Frank exclaimed in surprise. “Sophia, you mean Mary Shaw killed your father?”

Sophia: "Yes, Uncle Frank, do you know Mary Shaw?"

“Of course I know,” Sheriff Frank said. “With that nursery rhyme around, there should be very few people in town who don’t know Mary Shaw.”

Sofia asked, "Is it true that my family killed Mary Shaw?"

Sheriff Frank's expression changed slightly: "Who told you that?"

Sofia: "Uncle Frank, please tell me the truth."

Frank sighed, “It’s true. Back then, it was your grandfather who led men to kill Mary Shaw.”

Many years have passed since then; your father and I weren't even born yet.

Sophia: "So, Mary Shaw came for revenge; she's going to kill us all."

Frank looked at Cao Kun: "No wonder you brought an exorcist with you."

Sophia followed Cao Kun's instructions and said, "Thanks to Master Cao Kun, we have killed multiple bodies of Mary Shaw."

Frank looked confused: "What do you mean?"

A few minutes later, the three policemen saw the perfectly crafted doll, cleaved into small pieces.

"This is the perfect doll you were talking about?"

"It really looks just like the real person."

"It's amazing that such a thing exists in the world."

Sheriff Frank was filled with admiration.

He asked Sophia, "So, Mary Shaw isn't really dead yet?"

Sophia: "No, Master Cao Kun said that all of her dolls must be destroyed before she can be killed."

"Is that so?" Sheriff Frank turned his gaze to Cao Kun. "How can we help?"

Cao Kun: "Yes, there is another body in the van outside. It was also killed by Mary Shaw. We need you to deal with it."

Sheriff Frank was taken aback: "Is there more?"

Cao Kun: "Not at the moment."

“Okay.” Sheriff Frank looked at Sophia. “Call me anytime if you need anything.”

“I will, Uncle Frank, thank you for coming.” Sophia’s demeanor at this moment was completely out of character for her attire.

Her speech and mannerisms were those of a seasoned socialite.

However, considering her background and the environments she was exposed to from a young age, it's not surprising.

She just doesn't want to live that kind of life, which doesn't mean she won't.

A dozen minutes later, Frank left with the corpse of the driver in the van, along with the fragments of the perfect doll.

Sofia said, "You see, what you were worried about didn't happen."

Cao Kun knew that Sophia was referring to the incident where the police from Country M turned around and accused them of being the murderers.

He nodded: "That's because your family name is Potter. If it were another family, it might not be the same."

Sophia thought about some of the things she had encountered and nodded in agreement: "That's right. The credit for solving a serial murder case is enough to make them commit a serious crime."

If Uncle Frank ultimately solves the case, he might get a promotion and be transferred to the city.

Sofia asked, "After we kill Mary Shaw, can we give him the credit?"

Cao Kun: "Isn't it a bit early to talk about this now? Besides, your Uncle Frank might not even want to go to the city."

“That’s right, we’ll see,” Sophia said. “What do we do next?”

"Of course, we need to find all of Mary Shaw's dolls and destroy them."

Cao Kun retrieved the puppet from before, took out the Myriad Souls Banner, and shook it. The phantom images that had been collected earlier flew out and all disappeared into the puppet.

Now, this doll contains multiple fragments of Mary Shaw's soul.

Based on this, it would be easy to find the other Mary Shaw dolls by using witchcraft.

Under Cao Kun's magic, the puppet quickly began to move.

Strangely, it kept veering left and right, forward and backward, making it impossible to tell which direction it was going.

Sophia was completely bewildered: "Master Cao Kun, what is it doing?"

Cao Kun said with a dark face, "Mary Shaw has too many dolls left, it doesn't know which one to look for."

"Oh no?" Sofia asked anxiously, "What should we do then?"

“We can only eliminate them one by one, removing any distractions.” Cao Kun grabbed the puppet back: “Is there a theater in your town?”

Sophia asked in surprise, "Master Cao Kun, how did you know?"

Cao Kun: "Don't worry about all that, just take me there."

Sofia didn't want to drive that van anymore, so she changed to another car.

Anyway, they have plenty of cars.

In the movie, Mary Shaw's dolls are mainly located in two places.

One is in the cemetery outside the town, where Mary Shaw's own body is buried.

Secondly, it's inside the theater.

There were over a hundred puppets inside the theater.

It is also one of the most frightening scenes in the movie.

Cao Kun and his companion arrived at the theater in their car very quickly.

Mary Shaw performed in this very theater back then.

But now, just like in the movie, this theater has long been abandoned.

Cao Kun and his companion entered the theater, where the lighting was dim and the scene was blurry, making it impossible to see clearly.

The reason why Sophia had to be brought along was, of course, to prevent her from being easily defeated by Mary Shaw if she were alone.

Without an employer, Cao Kun won't be able to kill Mary Shaw to gain experience points, but he will be able to make money.

Moreover, the employer's death will damage his reputation, and fewer people will seek him out in the future.

Sophia swung her axe, clearing away the spiderweb in front of her, and a passage appeared before her.

“Master Cao Kun, over here.” Sophia, carrying the axe, was no longer so afraid.

However, paired with her gothic makeup, she actually looked rather frightening in the dimly lit, abandoned theater.

As the two were walking, suddenly, a doll hung upside down in front of them, its tongue sticking out and coiling towards Sophia's neck.

Snap!

Sophia raised her axe and cleaved it in two.

Cao Kun was taken aback. How did she suddenly become so fierce?

It's like he's become a completely different person?

Could it be that some kind of bloodline has been activated?

"You're using this trick again, thinking I'd be scared by you again, Mary Shaw? You underestimate me."

"If you've got the guts, come out here, or I'll chop you up with an axe."

Sophia raised her axe high and roared into the darkness.
