Chapter 11 Rescue

"That's not for you to eat!"

As the vines tightened, the outer bark of the chestnut tree was squeezed and deformed.

Su Qinghe hurriedly tried to pull the vine with her mind, but no matter how much force she used, the vine did not budge and even tightened.

"What kind of behavior is this! You didn't want it when it was in the ground, and now you're trying to snatch it after I dug it out!"

Filled with resentment, Su Qinghe had no choice but to withdraw her consciousness from the space, seeing that she couldn't do anything about it.

"ah--"

Suddenly, a shrill scream came from not far away, mixed with the roar of wild beasts.

The roar was very powerful, suggesting that someone had encountered a large wild animal in the mountains.

Su Qinghe quickly grabbed a kitchen knife and ran towards the direction from which the sound came.

Most of the hunters in the mountains were villagers from Qingshan Village, so she couldn't just stand by and watch them die.

"roar--"

As they got closer, the roars of the wild beasts became clearer, and to Su Qinghe they sounded like pigs squealing.

"Mother! Get out of the way!" a woman shouted.

When Su Qinghe arrived at the battlefield, she indeed saw a wild boar that was half the height of a person.

At that moment, a middle-aged woman was sitting on the ground, blood gushing from her legs. A wild boar was charging towards her in a frenzy, followed by a young woman holding a knife.

Seeing that things were not going well, Su Qinghe quickly leaped forward and swung the cleaver in her hand at the side of the wild boar's eye.

"roar--"

The attack hit its mark perfectly, blinding the wild boar in one eye. It let out a painful roar and quickly turned to charge towards Su Qinghe.

"Su Qinghe, stop standing there like an idiot, get out of the way!"

The young woman behind her saw Su Qinghe standing there motionless and assumed she was frightened, so she shouted at her.

Su Qinghe didn't move; she was waiting.

When the wild boar was more than a meter away from her, she pushed off with her legs and, using the support of the tree trunk behind her, leaped onto the wild boar's back.

The wild boar thrashed about angrily, but Su Qinghe remained firmly on its back. The boar frantically rammed around, trying to shake her off.

But Su Qinghe wasn't about to give it a chance. She clamped her legs tightly around the wild boar's belly to steady herself, while using one hand to forcefully pull the hair off its neck and the other to pull out the kitchen knife that was stuck in its eye.

"Roar—" The wild boar roared in pain again, its body arching backward.

"Su Qinghe, cripple its other eye too! It can't see, I'll find a chance to get close to it!" the young woman shouted.

Su Qinghe ignored it, raised her arm, and slashed hard at the wild boar's neck. The cleaver sank deep into the flesh, splattering blood all over her face.

Su Qinghe pressed down harder until the entire back of the knife was embedded in the flesh before pulling it out.

The cleaver nearly severed half of its neck. The wild boar was too weak to struggle any longer and collapsed to the ground, convulsing.

"You...you're really strong!" the young woman exclaimed in astonishment.

"It's alright!" Su Qinghe said dismissively, pulled out a kitchen knife, and jumped off the wild boar.

"Thank you so much, Lady Su, for saving my life! Second Sister, come and help me up!" the middle-aged woman on the ground said weakly.

"Mother! Are you alright, Mother?"

The woman called "Second Mother" then realized that her mother was still sitting on the ground and hurriedly ran over to check on her.

Su Qinghe recognized the mother and daughter; they were a hunter family living at the east end of the village.

"Aunt Liu, we need to stop the bleeding from your wound immediately."

She examined the wound; it was deep enough to expose the bone, and judging from its shape, it was clearly a bite from a wild boar.

Su Qinghe found some hemostatic agents nearby and skillfully began to stop the bleeding from Aunt Liu's leg. Finally, she used a kitchen knife to cut a few pieces of hardwood to fix it, because she had just discovered that Aunt Liu's lower leg was also fractured.

"Does Miss Su also know medicine?"

Aunt Liu, who hunts year-round, is quite knowledgeable about some methods of stopping bleeding. She was amazed to see how skillfully Su Qinghe used her techniques.

"I wouldn't call myself a medical expert, I just know a little about first aid!" Su Qinghe replied with a smile.

Having fought amidst gunfire in her past life, she was extremely knowledgeable about first aid and stopping bleeding, and she could handle minor injuries like Aunt Liu's with ease.

"Ms. Su is too modest!" Aunt Liu knew that Su Qinghe didn't want to say more, so she didn't ask any further questions, but simply thanked her sincerely again.

"Second Aunt, help me up!"

After Aunt Liu was helped up, all three of them looked at the wild boar.

Aunt Liu spoke first: "Miss Su, if you hadn't arrived in time today, my daughter and I would probably have become this wild boar's winter food."

"Take this wild boar back with you, as a token of our gratitude to you and your mother."

"Yes! Lady Su, we are so grateful to you this time, otherwise my mother and I would have been dead!" Second Aunt chimed in.

"In that case, I won't stand on ceremony with you!" Su Qinghe accepted readily and said.

"But your leg injury is quite serious, and you'll probably need to rest for a while. As the saying goes, you should eat what you need to recover from. I'll cut off two legs for you to take home and eat!"

"No……"

Aunt Liu tried to refuse, but Su Qinghe interrupted her as soon as she said "no".

"Please don't refuse. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have had the chance to encounter this today."

"Besides, we're all from the same village. When we come down the mountain, the villagers will see that I've taken a whole wild boar, and they'll definitely gossip about me!" Su Qinghe said half-jokingly.

Hearing Su Qinghe's words, Aunt Liu couldn't bring herself to refuse and could only thank her again.

"Then... thank you very much, Miss Su! If you ever need any help with heavy lifting in the future, just come to my daughter and me!"
