Chapter 138 Habit of Being By Your Side

Su Qinghe glanced at the man who had changed seats, a smile in her eyes, but said nothing and continued eating.

The pot of meat soup was completely finished by the group, and Ling Feng lived up to Su Qinghe's expectations, eating three full bowls.

She used the remaining half bucket of water for washing up. After everything was tidied up, Xiaoying put all her things into the bucket and carried it to the stream to wash them.

Leaving the driver to watch the carriage, Su Qinghe went to another part of the stream to stretch her muscles.

After a day in a carriage, she felt more tired than if she had been in a fight.

"Where are you going?" Su Qinghe asked as she saw Ling Feng walking towards the woods.

Ling Feng paused, then turned and said, "To use the restroom." He then rushed into the woods even faster.

Su Qinghe awkwardly touched her nose, turned to face the stream, and stood there for a while before Ling Feng returned.

Looking at his expressionless face, Su Qinghe spoke calmly. "Are you constipated?"

Ling Feng froze, looking puzzled. "What?"

Su Qinghe gave an awkward smile, waved her hand, and walked forward.

"Uh...it's nothing. We've been out for a while now. Let's go back! We need to set off in the middle of the night, so we should get some more sleep."

Ignoring Ling Feng's questioning gaze, Su Qinghe secretly despised herself in her heart.

After all, he's pregnant, so constipation is normal. I can't laugh at him; he's carrying her baby, so she's partly responsible for his condition!

Seeing Su Qinghe's pace quicken, Ling Feng didn't have time to think and quickly followed.

Xiaoying had already finished washing up and returned, and was now making up the beds for the two of them in the car.

He instructed him and the driver to take turns keeping watch at night and driving the carriage in the middle of the night. Su Qinghe and Ling Feng then returned to the carriage.

Seeing the neatly folded nightgown on the bedding, Ling Feng quickly stuffed it under the bedding.

He looked up at Su Qinghe hesitantly.

"I'll go out first. Call me when you're ready." With that, he got out of the car without waiting for Su Qinghe's reply.

Watching the man's seemingly fleeing figure, Su Qinghe pondered for a moment, then quickly took out her nightgown and changed into it.

After putting on an outer robe, Su Qinghe lifted the curtain and got out of the carriage.

"Go."

Upon hearing this, Ling Feng went inside and soon called Su Qinghe in.

"Which side do you want to sleep on?" he asked coldly.

Su Qinghe glanced at him, casually found a spot to lie down, and let out a comfortable sigh.

Seeing that she had made her choice, Ling Feng silently lifted the blanket and lay down on the other side.

The car interior was limited in space, barely enough for the two of them to sleep in, but any privacy was out of the question. If either of them turned over, their hair would touch, with only an arm's width between them.

Ling Feng still felt uncomfortable sleeping so close to Su Qinghe again, but fortunately, he had the experience from last time, so he didn't feel so bad this time.

It was so quiet outside that only the occasional bird call could be heard, and their carriage was the only one on the entire road.

"If you're cold, you can come closer. I don't mind if you're crowded."

Sensing the slight chill emanating from the man, Su Qinghe spoke softly with her eyes closed.

Ling Feng stiffened, but didn't move. "I'll be done in a bit."

"Suit yourself." Su Qinghe said no more.

...

In the dead of night, the carriage began to sway, indicating that it was time to depart. Su Qinghe did not open her eyes, but turned over and continued to sleep.

Ling Feng sat up, lifted the curtains to look around, asked Xiao Ying for a water pouch to drink some water, and then carefully lay back down next to Su Qinghe.

A moment later, a leg was draped over him. Ling Feng suddenly opened his eyes, but he couldn't see Su Qinghe's face in the darkness.

"What are you doing?" Knowing she was awake, Ling Feng asked in a calm tone.

Su Qinghe kept her eyes closed, her tone languid. "It's uncomfortable to keep my legs straight. If you want to change positions, you can lean on me; I don't mind."

She's already retired, so she's not used to compromising herself. Anyway, he'll be her man sooner or later, so she's determined to stay close to him. She doesn't believe he'll dare to resist.

As Su Qinghe had expected, Ling Feng didn't say anything, nor did he reach out to slap her legs away; his whole body remained stiff.

Ling Feng closed his eyes and waited for a long time. Seeing that Su Qinghe still showed no intention of moving, he clenched his fists.

His legs were a little numb, and he had been in the same position for a while. His whole body was also a little sore.

Just as he was about to turn over in discomfort, Su Qinghe's arm came over again, lying across his chest.

Ling Feng immediately dared not move, his body stiffening even more.

Seeing that he didn't dodge, Su Qinghe smiled slightly and pulled him closer to her, treating him like a pillow.

Although Ling Feng remained calm on the surface, his heart was beating faster and faster, as if it were about to jump out of his throat.

Inside the cramped carriage, their breaths gradually mingled, creating a strange atmosphere.

As the carriage jolted, their bodies bumped against each other from time to time. Each touch caused ripples in Ling Feng's heart, making his heart tighten.

Ling Feng tried to calm himself down, but he found it wasn't easy.

Su Qinghe's breath gently brushed against his face, bringing a strange, ticklish sensation.

After staying up all night, dawn finally broke.

Su Qinghe yawned comfortably, as if she had just woken up.

"How is it? Is it still acceptable?"

Looking at Ling Feng, who had broken free from her embrace, Su Qinghe got up in a good mood.

"Hmm." Ling Feng pinched the bridge of his nose; he had barely slept the rest of the night.

"I'll go out first."

Seeing the bruises under his eyes, Su Qinghe felt no remorse and put on an outer robe for him to change into.

After the two of them finished getting ready, they ate some pastries in the car as breakfast.

What followed was another grueling journey, but Ling Feng was clearly not as bored as he had been the day before, because he was very sleepy.

Regardless of what Su Qinghe was fiddling with, he simply closed his eyes and sat down to catch up on sleep.

The journey was tedious and monotonous, and the group's daily routine remained almost unchanged. Except for when they found a suitable inn along the way and had a good night's rest, they spent almost all their time in the wilderness.

It's worth mentioning that Ling Feng no longer feels uncomfortable with Su Qinghe sleeping next to him. Even if she puts her hands and feet on him, he can fall asleep quickly.

Finally arriving at Sanchuan, Su Qinghe guided the driver to Shili Xiang. After handing the pregnancy fruit to the shopkeeper and explaining the precautions, she stayed for a meal before continuing her journey.

Unfortunately, the timing is bad; it's only noon now. If it were later, I could stay overnight.

They replenished the carriage with some fresh food, and the carriage swayed and bumped its way out of the city.

"How many people are there in your Seven Kill Pavilion? I've seen several waves of assassins come along the way, but Qiu Shan doesn't seem to care."

After taking care of the last person, Su Qinghe wiped the dagger in her hand.

Ling Feng looked at her indifferently.

"The Seven Killings Pavilion has influence everywhere, and every year a large number of people join for various reasons, but this year the losses are the most severe because it is very difficult to kill them."
