Chapter 149 Arriving Home

Ling Feng kept his mouth shut, neither speaking nor looking at her, only shedding tears with a blank expression.

This scene was so comical that Su Qinghe couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"Alright, alright! Everyone has their sensitive spots, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. In fact, I like it even more! Nobody will laugh at you, really!"

Su Qinghe chuckled and took out a handkerchief to wipe away Ling Feng's tears, constantly saying comforting words.

Ling Feng remained silent. Su Qinghe released him, but he didn't even look at her and went straight back to his seat.

I had been missing her a little these past few days, but now I don't want to see her at all.

Ling Feng silently dealt with the matters at hand, completely unwilling to speak to Su Qinghe.

Su Qinghe stood behind and watched for a while before turning around and leaving.

After everyone left, Ling Feng finally looked up, feeling a little disappointed. He stared at the door for a long time, then reached out and touched the spot where Su Qinghe had bitten him; it was still burning hot.

With a sigh of relief, Ling Feng slammed the booklet shut, got up, and followed him out the door.

As night fell, Su Qinghe returned, and Ling Feng turned off the lights and went to bed early.

"What? Still angry?"

Su Qinghe turned to the side, looked at the man who was still facing away from her, and manually turned him over.

"Everything I need to bring has been packed into the car, and we can leave anytime tomorrow."

Ling Feng responded softly. "I'm not angry anymore."

Su Qinghe smiled and gently patted the man's back. "It's no use getting angry."

Ling Feng remained silent.

"Go to sleep! Tomorrow we'll be back to the hardship of sleeping in the open and eating in the wind."

...

The next morning.

Ling Hong personally escorted the person to the mountain gate.

Su Qinghe and her group were the same as when they came. After bidding farewell to the Seven Kill Pavilion, the carriage slowly drove away from the place.

After another half-month journey, the carriage finally arrived at Tianhe County, a place familiar to Su Qinghe.

"You go in first, I'll go pick up Lin Xi and the others."

At the gate of the Su residence, Su Qinghe gave Ling Feng an instruction and then immediately turned and went to the Commandant's residence.

"My lady!" The group was very excited to see Su Qinghe and looked her over several times.

"Where is Ling Langjun?" After the excitement subsided, the group realized that Ling Feng was not there.

"I told him to go home first. Why do you all look like you've gained a lot of weight?"

Su Qinghe carefully looked at the men. Apart from Lin Xi and Ji Yuan, whose bellies had grown even larger, Qin Ange and Ji Qingyu had both gained weight on their faces.

The men's faces flushed slightly. "It's springtime now, so naturally our appetites have improved. We've been staying at the Commandant's Mansion all day with nothing to do, so we've just been eating."

This reason left Su Qinghe both amused and exasperated; it seemed that all the men in her family were foodies.

After Su Qinghe and her husband finished talking, Qin Anmin, who had been holding back for a long time, finally spoke up.

She gave Su Qinghe a bear hug, her voice slightly trembling with excitement.

"You're finally back! I was so worried you wouldn't make it to my daughter's one-month celebration, hahaha..."

Hearing this, Su Qinghe was somewhat taken aback. "Sister Qin, I remember your husbands are only six months pregnant?"

Qin Anmin was excited but also looked terrified. "He accidentally fell a few days ago and went into premature labor. Fortunately, thanks to the Bodhisattva, nothing bad happened."

Having learned the whole story, Su Qinghe sincerely congratulated her.

"It's good that father and daughter are safe and sound! Congratulations to Sister Qin on the birth of your daughter! I'm glad I was able to join in this celebration!"

Hahaha... Congratulations to you too!

Qin Anmin couldn't stop smiling and quickly pulled Su Qinghe to see her beloved eldest daughter.

Because the baby is still far along in gestation, he looks rather thin, and his face is all wrinkled; he's hardly considered pretty.

"Has your little niece been named yet?"

Su Qinghe held up a finger and waved it in front of the baby's eyes, watching her eyes follow the movement of her finger from side to side, finding it amusing.

Qin Anmin stood to the side, grinning foolishly, holding a rattle drum in his hand.

"Not yet! I was thinking of having you do it, but then I thought it would be better if you did, since without you, we wouldn't have this child, right?"

Su Qinghe felt awkward listening to her words. What did she mean by saying that without her, there would be no child? It sounded as if she had done something despicable.

Su Qinghe's expression was strange. "Sister Qin, I'm not very good at naming things. Since I'm here now, why don't you think of one and I'll pretend I came up with it?"

Qin Anmin shook his head repeatedly. "How can that be the same? You don't need to worry, as long as it's not too outrageous."

Seeing Qin Anmin's insistence, Su Qinghe could only nod helplessly. She looked at the baby in the cradle and racked her brains for a while, but she really couldn't think of any wonderful name.

After a moment, she tentatively suggested, "How about Yan Nian? Qin Yan Nian?"

"She was not very stable when she was born, and she looked thinner and weaker than other babies. Sister Qin, please don't blame me for speaking unlucky. Generally speaking, premature babies are not healthy, so this name is to suppress that."

Su Qinghe explained earnestly that she really couldn't think of anything better, and that she came up with this idea out of the best of her ability.

Qin Anmin was stunned for a moment, the smile on his face disappeared, and he stopped playing the rattle drum.

Su Qinghe thought she was unhappy and quickly wanted to apologize, but heard her sigh.

"The name my dear sister chose is very good, but it touches on a sore spot..."

"This is my first child, but I never imagined my life would be so hard. But I'll take your kind words as a blessing!"

Qin Anmin gave Su Qinghe a deep look, then looked down at Qin Yannian with eyes full of affection.

Su Qinghe was quite unaccustomed to Qin Anmin's behavior, and she quickly patted him on the shoulder.

"Don't worry, Sister Qin. I happen to know some medicine. When Yan Nian is a little older, I'll prescribe some medicine for her to nourish her. Although I can't make her wield swords and spears, she can still run and jump freely like a normal person."

Upon hearing this, Qin Anmin suddenly raised his head and grabbed Su Qinghe's arm.

"Good, good! I'm relieved to hear what you said, my dear sister!"

Qin Anmin's mood brightened instantly, and the sadness he had felt earlier vanished in an instant.

She might not have believed it if it were anyone else, but since it came from Su Qinghe, she believed it one hundred percent. Based on her understanding of Su Qinghe after knowing her for so long, she would never speak up if she wasn't sure.

Seeing that Qin Anmin recovered so quickly, Su Qinghe breathed a sigh of relief. She really couldn't stand seeing someone who was usually so carefree suddenly become so sad.

"Oh! There's one more thing I forgot to tell you." Qin Anmin suddenly became serious again.

Su Qinghe was taken aback. "Is there anything else?"

Seeing Qin Yannian start to cry, Qin Anmin instructed the servants to take Su Qinghe to her husband and then pulled Su Qinghe out of the house.

"It's about what Luo Pinzheng mentioned that day. You were gone for two months, and the imperial edict to excavate Ziyun Ridge arrived in Tianhe County the day before yesterday. She even brought it to my residence to see it."

Su Qinghe frowned. "His Majesty really agreed to this? I've never heard that the Great Wu Kingdom's treasury is empty. Why would His Majesty take this risk?"
