Chapter 18 Night Raid

Tonight, Su Qinghe stayed in Lin Xi's room as usual.

In the middle of the night, a slight noise came from the courtyard. Su Qinghe opened her eyes with a start, lifted Lin Xi's head which was pressing against her arm, and quietly got out of bed and walked to the door.

"Have you found it?" one person asked in a low voice.

"We've searched the entire yard, but we haven't found any fruit-bearing trees!"

"Never mind, she definitely didn't plant it in the yard. Let's go straight into the house, tie her up, and force her to tell us where the fertile fruit tree is! Then we'll deal with her as the employer demands!"

"We'll go to this room, you two go to that room! Let's move!"

In the courtyard, four men in black split into two groups and crept stealthily toward the two rooms.

Su Qinghe originally planned to launch a surprise attack after the group entered, but seeing two people heading into Ji Yuan's room, she had to abandon the idea.

She flung open the door and rushed out, slapping the person coming towards her room across the face.

"Smack!"

"Ouch! What is that?!"

The sky was dark, with only a sliver of moonlight allowing one to barely see their surroundings.

The man in black was slapped to the ground before he even had a chance to see what happened!

But another man in black beside her saw it.

She raised her knife to strike, but Su Qinghe was faster, slapping her to the ground as well.

Ouch!

Before she could get up, Su Qinghe snatched the knives from the two men and held them to their necks.

"Ah! Don't kill me! Don't kill me!" The situation changed so quickly that the two women hadn't even had time to react before a knife was already at their necks, leaving them drenched in cold sweat.

"She's there!"

Hearing the commotion, the other two abandoned their original room and drew their swords to slash at Su Qinghe.

Judging from his stance, he does know some kung fu.

Su Qinghe used the back of her knife to knock the two people on the ground unconscious, then grabbed two knives and started fighting them.

The two people on the ground were only caught off guard and were easily subdued by Su Qinghe, but now that they have seen the situation clearly, they have entered a fighting state.

But this had no effect on Su Qinghe, who was a veteran of many battles. After only a few moves, the two had both been injured, and one of them even lost an arm.

Seeing that he was outmatched, the man in black, whose limbs were intact, turned around and rushed into the room behind him.

"Her husband is in the room. You hold her off while I go tie him up!"

As soon as he finished speaking, the person in front of him became even more ferocious.

Once the person entered the house, Su Qinghe, preoccupied with Ji Yuan inside, no longer cared about whether or not someone would be killed, and directly slit the person's throat with a knife.

The sounds of fighting and talking outside woke Ji Yuan from his sleep.

He had just propped himself up to sit up when he heard the door be kicked open with a bang, and a figure carrying a knife rushed in from outside.

He was unaware of the situation outside, dared not call out, and dared not get out of bed. He trembled all over and gripped the teapot by the bedside for self-defense.

The room was dark, without moonlight, making it impossible to see anything.

The man in black could only rush toward the bed by following its outline.

Seeing the person rushing towards him, Ji Yuan smashed a teapot at them.

"Ah!" The man in black was hit in the face and let out a scream. He then charged toward the bed with even more ferocity.

Seeing that he hadn't knocked her unconscious, Ji Yuan hurriedly got off the bed, ran behind the table, picked up a stool, and threw it at her.

But this time the man in black had already seen him and easily dodged to the side.

"You filthy man! You'll regret this!"

"Don't come any closer!" Ji Yuan's lips trembled as he frantically threw whatever was around him toward the man in black.

The man in black cursed under his breath and took two or three steps forward. Just as he grabbed the man's shoulder, a "thud" sounded as a knife pierced flesh.

She felt a sharp pain in her chest and looked down to see a knife piercing through her chest from behind.

"Ah!" Ji Yuan screamed in fright at the bloody scene.

"Ah Yuan! Are you alright?"

The man in black in front of him collapsed to the ground with a thud, and then he heard Su Qinghe's slightly anxious voice.

Moonlight streamed through the open door, illuminating the area in front of it. Su Qinghe rushed towards him anxiously from there, the moonlight also bathing her in its glow.

That scene was deeply imprinted in Ji Yuan's mind.

He felt a stinging sensation in his nose, his body snapped out of its intense state, and he collapsed to the ground with a thud.

"A-Yuan!" Su Qinghe rushed over and hugged him, gently patting his back. "It's alright! Don't be afraid! Your wife is here!"

"Waaaaah, my wife!"

I've always lived in fear, and now this has happened again.

Ji Yuan could no longer hold back and buried his face in Su Qinghe's arms, bursting into tears.

Su Qinghe was at a loss; she had never seen Ji Yuan like this before. Since returning with her, Ji Yuan's emotions had been very stable, and she had never seen him lose his composure like this before.

After a long while, the crying gradually turned into low sobs, and after a while, Ji Yuan's crying stopped coming from her arms.

Su Qinghe thought he had cried himself to sleep in her arms, but she heard his voice again soon after.

"My lady!" Ji Yuan called softly.

"Um?"

“She didn’t touch my skin just now…” he said softly.

Su Qinghe thought he was going to say something, but he just said this, and replied with a smile, "That's not important!"

"No, this is very important!" Ji Yuan said, his voice trembling with emotion, as he heard that Su Qinghe didn't seem to care at all.

"She only grabbed my shoulder through my clothes; she didn't touch me anywhere else!"

"You have to believe me!" Ji Yuan raised his head, his eyes red, pleading with Su Qinghe, tears welling up in his eyes again.

Su Qinghe hadn't expected him to be so emotional, and quickly reached out to wipe away his tears. "Of course I believe you, don't cry! I just feel that nothing else matters compared to your safety!"

"Is it really not important?" Ji Yuan's mind was filled with only these words. He was momentarily lost in thought, his lips moved, and he murmured, "So you still think I'm dirty... Whether you touched me or not, it's all the same..."

"What?" Su Qinghe looked puzzled, not understanding how he had brought up that topic again. "When did I say I disliked you?"

“You didn’t say it…” Ji Yuan looked up at her. “But you showed it!”

"When did this happen? How come I didn't know?" Su Qinghe was even more confused.

Seeing her expression, as if she truly didn't know, Ji Yuan felt a glimmer of hope. Staring at her glasses, he cautiously asked:

“That day when I changed your clothes, your eyes clearly showed desire, but you wouldn’t touch me,” Ji Yuan said softly. “Also, ever since you bought me, you’ve never slept in my room.”

"Don't all of this prove that you despise me?" Ji Yuan said, and began to sob softly again.

"Me! What kind of nonsense is this!" Su Qinghe was completely bewildered, feeling utterly wronged.
