Qin Anmin arranged for the two to be escorted to the gate of the mansion, where a carriage bearing the Qin family's insignia was already waiting.
"Young Master!"
Que'er stood in front of the carriage and saw Qin Ange come out, so she quickly ran up behind him.
"Young master, are you going out with Lady Su?" he whispered in his ear.
He was afraid that his young master would come to the door to see someone off.
"Mm!" Qin Ange nodded in a very good mood.
After exchanging a few words with Qin Anmin, Su Qinghe boarded the carriage first, and only after she had settled down did she turn around to look at Qin Ange below.
Sparrow's eyes darted around, and with a keen eye, she took a few steps back.
"Young master, I injured my arm while practicing martial arts these past few days, so I'm afraid I won't be able to support you properly."
Qin Ange turned to look at him in confusion.
When did this happen? How come he doesn't know?
"Can Young Master Qin come up by himself?"
Su Qinghe looked at him quietly and asked a question softly.
Qin Ange remained silent, staring at her with wide eyes. After a moment's hesitation, she raised her hand, her meaning all too clear.
Su Qinghe smiled slightly and stretched out an arm in front of him.
"Help me up."
Because Qin Ange was a man, she couldn't directly help him up, so she could only let him grab her arm to come up.
Looking at the arm so close to hers, Qin Ange nervously clenched her fists and gently grasped it.
Su Qinghe steadied herself and prepared to exert force, but only felt a very small force pressing on her arm. It was gone in an instant, and she was already standing steadily next to him.
Su Qinghe silently withdrew her hand, as if she didn't need her at all.
Having watched the whole thing from the sidelines, Qin Anmin had a strange look in his eyes. Why was this kid suddenly acting so pretentious today? He never usually needed anyone to help him up.
After Que'er boarded the carriage, the group bid farewell to Qin Anmin. Then, the coachman cracked his whip, and the carriage slowly drove away from the Qin residence.
Inside the car, Qin Ange and Su Qinghe sat facing each other, with Que'er sitting next to him on the side closest to the door.
Several plates of candied fruit and pastries were placed on the small table next to them, but the two of them did not touch them. Only Que'er licked her lips with longing.
The car was very quiet. Qin Ange looked up at Su Qinghe with her head down, then turned around and took out a veil from somewhere and put it on her face.
Although he often mingled with women, that was always in crowded places. Now that he was alone with Su Qinghe, he should be careful so that she wouldn't think he was some kind of reckless man.
"Is that mansion far from the Qin residence?"
Su Qinghe was a little unaccustomed to the sudden change in etiquette from the person opposite her.
"It's not far. The Commandant's Office is in the center of the city, and the place we're going to is also in the city, just a little further out. It will take about half an hour to get there by carriage."
Qin Ange looked up at her, thought for a moment, and added:
"It's closer to Shili Xiang; it only takes about fifteen minutes to get there from there."
"That's a good location."
Su Qinghe nodded in satisfaction, looking at Qin Ange across from her, whose only visible feature was his large eyes, and found it inexplicably amusing.
This person was not the delicate young master type to begin with. Today, not only was he dressed in white, but he was also wearing a white veil on his face.
His more robust physique and round head, combined with his outfit today, made him look rather out of place.
Not only did he fail to create the image of a refined gentleman, but he also looked somewhat simple-minded, like the foolish son of a landlord.
“It was a really nice place. A lot of people wanted to buy it back then, and my sister went through a lot of trouble to finally get it. It’s just that we never thought we’d never use it.”
"Why did Ms. Su suddenly want to buy a house?"
Seeing that the car had quieted down again, Qin Ange hurriedly changed the subject.
Bored, Su Qinghe picked up a book from the side and flipped through it.
"My husband just ate a fertility pill and should be pregnant soon. The restaurant is too noisy, we need to find a quiet place."
Qin Ange's heart tightened. It was just a casual question, but she didn't expect to get such an answer.
Que'er sat up straight and turned to look at Qin Ange with some concern.
Although Lady Su already has a husband, and even if the young master does marry into her family, he won't be her official husband, he must still be heartbroken to hear such words now.
Quietly brushing away the hand that was tugging at his clothes from the sparrow beside him, Qin Ange straightened himself up.
"It's really not a suitable place to rest during pregnancy in a restaurant. I didn't expect that Ms. Su, a woman, could be so thoughtful."
He grinned, revealing a set of bright white teeth, but Su Qinghe couldn't see them because of the veil. She could only discern his mood from the slightly downturned corners of his eyes.
"After all, they are my offspring; anyone else would have thought of that."
Su Qinghe smiled modestly and was about to put the book back when the carriage suddenly shook violently.
Qin Ange leaned forward, looking at Su Qinghe who was so close to him, and quickly grabbed the corner of the small table next to him.
While trying to stay calm, he also felt a surge of impulse. If he pounced on her, could he use that opportunity to ask her to marry him?
The carriage was still swaying, but despite the surge of energy in Qin Ange's heart, her hands remained firmly on the small table.
Su Qinghe, sitting opposite, also swayed slightly, but the carriage mostly tilted towards her, so she was able to sit steadily.
Sparrow, who had been gripping the door frame tightly since the carriage started to sway, steadied herself and turned to check on Qin Ange.
But when he saw that even in this situation, his young master still couldn't help but steal glances at Ms. Su, he was speechless.
After watching for a moment, he smirked, then suddenly released his grip on the door frame, slid down the seat cushion, and shouted anxiously as he did so.
"Ah! Young master—get out of the way quickly—"
With a loud shout, Qin Ange looked up, his eyes wide open. He was momentarily flustered, but still showed no intention of going towards Su Qinghe.
"Come here quickly!"
Seeing that things were not going well, Su Qinghe grabbed the window sill of the carriage with one hand, leaned forward, grabbed Qin Ange's arm with the other hand and pulled him over, and then quickly threw a soft cushion over him.
"!"
He buried his face in Su Qinghe's arms, Qin Ange's mind was in a daze, and a blush slowly crept up his cheeks.
Ouch!
The carriage shook for the last time, accompanied by the sparrow's pitiful cry.
Qin Ange quickly climbed out of Su Qinghe's arms, forgetting her embarrassment, and turned to look.
"Sparrow, are you alright?"
The carriage had stabilized, and he quickly went over to help the person up.
"I... I'm fine, I just bumped into something, I'll just put some ointment on it when I get back."
Que'er forced a smile that was uglier than a ghost's, clutching her back and wincing in pain.
His waist had just hit the small table next to him; it must be bruised now.
"Luckily, there was a soft pad underneath, so the injury shouldn't be serious."
Su Qinghe looked concerned, but didn't go over to check on her.
Qin Ange saw the cushion, turned around and gave Su Qinghe a grateful look.
"Luckily, Ms. Su acted quickly!"
