Su Qinghe and Qin Anmin are interspersed among them in the story.
The two picked up paper and pen. The contents of the letters were largely the same, all expressing obedience to Luo Pinzheng's orders.
After everyone had finished writing their letters, Luo Pinzheng put the letter into his pocket.
"Very good, now we are all on the same side. I, Luo, have already arranged a sumptuous dinner for everyone. Shall we go over there together?"
Luo Pinzheng put on a friendly expression and told the surrounding soldiers to disperse.
She walked past the crowd, and the group looked around before following her at a distance.
Luo Pinzheng did not lie to them this time; he had indeed prepared a very sumptuous meal.
The group was currently inside a tent, where several tables were set up and covered with food.
The first person to finish writing the letter was sitting at a table enjoying a meal when he saw Luo Pinzheng. Startled, he quickly put down his chopsticks and stood up.
Luo Pin waved to her in a friendly manner.
Please make yourselves at home and find a seat.
Luo Pin smiled and walked to the head seat, pouring herself a glass of wine as if these people were truly her guests.
The group looked at each other, and seeing that Luo Pinzheng wasn't looking at them, they hesitated and dispersed to their respective tables.
After sitting down, no one dared to touch their chopsticks first, glancing at Luo Pinzheng's food every now and then.
"What are you looking at me for? Eat up! The food will get cold if you wait any longer."
Noticing the gazes of these people, Luo Pin looked up and teased them with a smile.
Everyone nodded hastily, their faces beaming with ingratiating smiles.
"Yes, yes, thank you for your hospitality, Lord Luo."
After saying that, everyone picked up their chopsticks and started eating.
Now they understood that as long as the letter was written and Luo Pinzheng achieved his goal, he would no longer make things difficult for them.
The table was mostly filled with meat dishes, including pheasants, rabbits, and even venison, all freshly caught in the mountains.
The group had already been climbing the mountain all day, and after experiencing such a painful ordeal, they were exhausted and starving.
Seeing this table full of food, everyone ate without any regard for appearances.
Since they had already been poisoned, they believed that Luo Pinzheng would not poison them again.
Everyone wolfed down their food; the only sound in the tent was the chewing of food, and no one spoke.
The dinner lasted for almost half an hour, and everyone's table was a mess, with almost nothing left.
After the meal, the group was divided into two teams and led to two different tents to rest.
Su Qinghe and Qin Anmin were forced to separate. Before leaving, Su Qinghe whispered a few words in her ear.
The group was quickly led inside, where there was nothing but cotton wadding spread on the floor and two tables with teapots on them.
Just as everyone was sighing, the curtain of the tent behind them was lifted, and a man who looked like a general walked in.
She said coldly:
"The conditions in the mountains are limited, and there isn't enough space for everyone to set up their own tents, so please make do with sleeping on the ground for the next few days."
She was about to leave after delivering the message when Su Qinghe quickly called her back.
"General, is there a place to bathe around here? We've been trekking through mountains and rivers for days and have sweated a lot. We're all smelly, and it wouldn't be good to get this cotton quilt dirty, wouldn't you say?"
After Su Qinghe finished speaking with a smile, she walked up to the person and slipped some silver into her hand.
The woman's eyes flickered, and she looked up at the crowd. Seeing that everyone else was also looking at her, she hesitated.
Su Qinghe slipped her some more silver.
"Lord Luo said he treats us like family. We are all people of status. If this great thing is accomplished, we will continue to work for Lord Luo in the future. She certainly won't say anything about taking a bath."
"If the general helps me, I will repay him after the matter is settled."
Hearing Su Qinghe address her as "General" repeatedly, the soldier felt very comfortable.
Upon further reflection, he realized she was right and quickly nodded.
"There's a small waterfall behind the camp; I can take you there."
Seeing that the man had actually agreed, the remaining people looked at each other and hurriedly took out the loose silver coins they had and handed them over in a rush.
They live comfortable lives, so naturally they are all clean and tidy.
"General, this is just a small token of our appreciation. Since you're going to take someone with you anyway, why don't you take us all with you? We haven't had a bath in days."
One by one, hands holding silver were extended in front of him. The man coughed lightly twice and discreetly put them into his pocket.
“There are too many of you, I can’t make the decision myself, but I can ask Lord Luo for instructions on your behalf. Please wait here.”
She finished speaking hastily and quickly left the tent.
The man returned shortly after they arrived.
"Lord Luo has agreed. Take your clothes and come with me."
The crowd was delighted and each took out a piece of clothing from their bundles and followed.
It was already very late, and only a small number of people were patrolling the camp with torches.
Meanwhile, the people in another tent received the same treatment, and the group gathered together again.
Besides the soldier from before, another group of people took them to take a bath.
The waterfall was right behind the campsite, so Luo Pinzheng wasn't worried about them running away and didn't let more people follow.
Several soldiers walked ahead carrying torches, but the firelight only illuminated a limited area, so Su Qinghe couldn't make out the exact size of the camp as she walked.
All we know is that from the point where they came out until they left the camp, it took about fifteen minutes, and that was even with them walking very fast.
"I wonder how many troops are stationed here."
Su Qinghe's mind was racing the whole way, and soon she heard the soft sound of flowing water.
After a short while, the soldiers in front stopped.
"We've arrived. Hurry up and wash. Lord Luo has instructed that we must return to the camp by 3:45 PM."
"Okay! Okay, okay." Everyone nodded hurriedly.
Although rows of torches illuminated the water brightly, they felt no embarrassment at all, and quickly took off their dirty clothes and entered the water.
The same applies to Su Qinghe and Qin Anmin.
Although it was already summer, the nights were cool and there were many mosquitoes, so the group didn't linger for long and simply washed up before getting ashore.
We quickly got dressed and started heading towards the camp.
In the darkness, Su Qinghe silently took out a porcelain bottle from her spatial storage, opened it, poured out a grain, and threw it into the nearby bushes.
As predicted, it's time for Ling Feng to begin preparations.
Actually, she could just leave it in the corner of the tent. She wasn't lying here tonight specifically to throw it away; she just really wanted to take a shower.
You can also learn about the campsite while you're at it.
Su Qinghe looked around as she walked, and was soon taken back to her tent.
Now that everyone had finished bathing and changing, they felt much better and were no longer as irritable as before. They discussed and each chose a spot to lie down.
Su Qinghe had already secured the spot closest to the curtain.
She could sense that there were soldiers guarding outside the tent, so it seemed that Luo Pinzheng wasn't entirely at ease with them.
