Chapter 185 Change into a nightgown

"You can try a little bit first and see if you like it."

Su Qinghe couldn't hide the smile in her eyes, and she tore off a small strip from the jerky and handed it to him.

"Benefactor Su, could it be a little smaller?" Wu Wang asked somewhat awkwardly, looking at Su Qinghe with great embarrassment.

Su Qinghe smiled and tore off another half from that small strip.

"Will this work?"

"Mm." Wu Wang nodded.

Wu Wang carefully picked it up with two fingers, looked at it again and again, swallowed his saliva several times, but still hesitated to put it in his mouth.

Su Qinghe just watched him quietly, without urging him.

Finally, Wu Wang hardened his heart and threw the jerky into his mouth.

It's more like shredded meat than dried meat.

Even though it was such a small thing, Wuwang, who was eating meat for the first time, still chewed it carefully and savored its taste.

"How is it?" Su Qinghe asked, tilting her head as she watched him chew for a while.

"It's a bit hard," Hopeless whispered.

"This is air-dried, so it's naturally a bit tough. I was asking about the taste, the taste of the meat," Su Qinghe explained patiently.

Wu Wang blushed.

"It's alright. Besides the salt and spiciness, there's a strange aroma. You can't taste it at first, but the more you chew, the stronger the flavor becomes."

As he spoke, Wuwang couldn't help but smack his lips, the lingering aroma of the dried meat still in his mouth.

Sure enough, no one can resist the temptation of meat.

Su Qinghe looked at Wu Wang with a faint smile, "So, do you like this flavor?"

Wu Wang pondered for a moment, unsure of himself, and could only offer a vague reply: "This humble monk does not dislike its taste."

"It smells really good, no wonder people love to eat meat so much."

As Wu Wang spoke, he blushed and gratefully bowed to Su Qinghe with a Buddhist salute.

“Benefactor Su has a lofty mind. Although you do not practice Buddhism, you understand so many principles of the world. I am very grateful to Benefactor Su for helping me resolve my doubts of many years.”

Looking at Wu Wang's earnest face, Su Qinghe felt that she was somewhat wicked. How could she deceive such an innocent boy?

Su Qinghe silently repented in her heart for a fraction of a second.

The main reason she hid in Lingyan Temple for so many days was to wait for the person behind the scenes who came to pick up the hostages, so that she could capture him alive.

Although she had to constantly avoid the soldiers, she still found herself quite bored in her free time. She was just looking for someone to amuse her.

I never expected this person to be so easily fooled. I just made up a few random things, and he actually believed me.

Looking at Wu Wang, who was standing awkwardly in front of her, Su Qinghe reached out her hand.

"Want some more? You can have all of these."

Upon seeing this, Wu Wang quickly waved his hand.

"No need, no need. Thank you for your kindness, Benefactor Su. I am already content to know the taste of this in my lifetime. I must not break the rules, or Buddha will be displeased."

Upon hearing this, Su Qinghe stopped insisting and took the dried meat back.

"Gurgle~"

A sudden rumbling sound came from the quiet meditation room. Su Qinghe looked in the direction of the sound and saw Wuwang with his head down, looking nervous and embarrassed as he clutched his stomach.

Su Qinghe muttered to herself.

"From what he just said, he ate quite a lot last night, and he's already hungry before it's even late at night. He looks so small and skinny, I didn't expect him to be such a glutton."

Su Qinghe kindly handed over the dried meat again.

"I only have dried meat here. Are you sure you don't want it? This is the last time I'm asking. If you don't want it, I'm really taking it back."

To Su Qinghe's surprise, Wu Wang refused very decisively.

"Really, no need. Thank you, Benefactor Su. This humble monk has food here."

As he spoke, Su Qinghe saw him jog away to a place where the candlelight couldn't reach. There was a rustling sound, and when he came back, he had a small paper package in his hand.

Seeing that Su Qinghe was staring at him, Wu Wang sat down on the edge of the bed and smiled shyly at her.

Clean fingers slowly unwrapped the paper package layer by layer, revealing a plump, white steamed bun.

Upon seeing the steamed bun, Su Qinghe raised an eyebrow. It seemed this guy was a repeat offender.

Meeting Su Qinghe's gaze, Wu Wang felt even more embarrassed, and he unconsciously tightened his grip on the paper package.

"Sometimes there are leftover steamed buns made in the kitchen, and I get hungry quickly. So I pack them up and eat them when I'm hungry, and save them for the next day if I'm not hungry."

As he spoke, he looked up at Su Qinghe.

"In our temple, we take turns cooking. Today, these steamed buns were made by this humble monk. Would you like to try some of my steamed buns, Benefactor Su? They are very sweet."

He looked at Su Qinghe with a hint of anticipation in his eyes, hoping to share the food he had made and even better if he could receive praise.

Su Qinghe naturally saw the emotion in his eyes, but she shook her head.

"No need, I don't like steamed buns. You can eat more if you're hungry."

Upon hearing the answer, the expectation in Wu Wang's eyes visibly turned into disappointment.

"Okay," he replied dejectedly.

Wu Wang started eating, and his incessant chatter disappeared from the room.

It was the middle of the night, but the noise outside kept Su Qinghe wide awake. With nothing to do inside, she could only watch Wu Wang eat.

The little monk didn't look as cute eating as he did in the main hall this time; instead, he ate very politely.

With his slender, white fingers, he lightly tore off a small piece of steamed bun and then slowly put it into his mouth.

His expression was also very calm, which truly made Su Qinghe feel the unique refined temperament of Buddhism emanating from him.

The room was very quiet. The sound of the little monk chewing his steamed bun was almost inaudible.

In the pitch-black night, a lone man and woman maintained an eerie atmosphere. One ate slowly and deliberately, while the other watched quietly from the side.

However, this harmonious atmosphere was soon broken by the sound of messy footsteps outside.

"Open the door! Open the door!"

The woman's rough voice came from the courtyard. Wu Wang was startled and hurriedly wrapped up the half-eaten steamed bun.

Su Qinghe also frowned and stood up from her chair.

"Benefactor Su, what should we do? The soldiers have searched this area! You should go and hide quickly!"

Wu Wang stood there, holding the steamed bun, looking at Su Qinghe with a flustered expression.

Su Qinghe listened quietly; there were people all around the courtyard.

"It's too late to get out."

"Oh no! What should we do then!" Wu Wang rushed to the door and looked around anxiously.

Many monks lived in this courtyard. His room was at the back, while the soldiers were already checking the rooms at the front.

Su Qinghe glanced around the room and pulled the person over.

"Hurry up and change into your nightgown and get into bed!"

She had just looked; his bed was against the wall, with two quilts folded on the inside. If he wanted to cover it up, the quilts were thick enough. If he were discovered, she would have no choice but to kill him.
