Ji Yuan was helped up, while the two younger children stood by, looking bewildered.
"You're the oldest among them, and you're heavily pregnant. How can you be so inconsiderate!"
Seeing him standing there with his head down, Su Qinghe gave him a stern reprimand.
Neither the little ones nor the big ones can give her a moment's peace.
Upon seeing the scene before him, a hint of surprise flashed in Ling Feng's eyes, who had been silent all along.
He seemed to have learned a bit more about the rules of this household.
The men were eerily quiet. Su Qinghe was angry, and they didn't dare to speak or try to persuade her. Even Ji Qingyu, who was usually the most spoiled, didn't dare to plead for her brother.
Hearing Su Qinghe's angry tone, Ji Yuan felt a pang of panic and clenched the handkerchief in his hand.
"My wife is right to reprimand me. It was A-Yuan who did not consider things carefully." He curtsied to Su Qinghe.
"Go back and sit down."
Seeing his sincere attitude in admitting his mistake, Su Qinghe paused for a few seconds before speaking, not making a fuss, and only officially announced the start of the meal after everyone had sat down again.
"Go fetch a basin of water to wake him up."
After taking a few bites, seeing that the table was quiet and no one was mentioning Wenzhu, Su Qinghe sighed and gave instructions to Nanfeng, who was standing to the side.
Nanfeng accepted the order and left, but the men at the table remained silent.
Su Qinghe glanced around, finally fixing her gaze on Lin Xi.
"Xiao Xi, Wen Zhu is your servant. What do you think should be done with him?"
Upon hearing Su Qinghe call her name, Lin Xi quickly wiped her mouth and looked up at Su Qinghe with some trepidation.
“My lady, Wenzhu has done such a thing, she certainly can’t stay in the manor any longer. I think it would be better to have Steward Zhang find someone to sell her off.”
Hearing this result, Su Qinghe was quite satisfied. It seemed that his teaching last night had been effective; at least he hadn't told anyone to stay in the mansion to do menial work.
"But what he did wasn't a minor mistake. Are we just going to let him off so easily? Aren't we going to punish him at all?"
Su Qinghe then asked him if the result, while satisfactory, did not meet her expectations.
Lin Xi was taken aback by her question and hesitated.
Expelling the person was the best solution he could think of, so that they would no longer pose a threat to the Su family. However, he hadn't considered any other punishment.
Beat someone up? No, no, no.
Lin Xi shook his head as soon as the idea popped into his head. If he beat him up and then sold him, the slave trader would definitely not pay for his treatment.
Who would buy from someone who is injured and seems to have a persistent high fever? If this continues, he will only face certain death.
Even after Su Qinghe's lecture last night, Lin Xi still couldn't bear to watch someone die, especially since that person was indirectly killed by him!
After thinking for a moment, he tentatively suggested, as if in discussion:
"Why don't we beat him up, lock him in the woodshed until his injuries have almost healed, and then sell him? That way, he'll suffer some physical pain, but at least his life will be spared..."
He looked at Su Qinghe with trepidation, anxiously awaiting her reply.
Seeing his serious expression, Su Qinghe rubbed her temples in exasperation.
No rush, no rush! It's already good that he thought of this!
Having calmed herself down, Su Qinghe looked up again, but this time she didn't look at Lin Xi. Instead, she scanned the faces of the other men.
“And you all say so,” she said, leaving no room for argument.
Since Lin Xi thinks this way, let him hear what other people are doing.
Su Qinghe first focused her attention on Ji Qingyu. "You go first."
Seeing that she was the first one chosen, Ji Qingyu suddenly became a little nervous.
"Uh, I think we don't need to give him time to heal. We should just beat him up and sell him off. This kind of person is inherently evil. He needs to suffer a bit, uh... let him regret it in pain!"
Ji Qingyu started off hesitantly, afraid that Su Qinghe would think he was cruel, but the more he talked, the more he felt that he was right, and he suddenly became more confident. His last sentence was even more impassioned.
"That's all I have to say."
As he finished speaking, his gaze towards Su Qinghe became more confident.
Su Qinghe smiled and shifted her gaze to Qin Ange beside him. "And you?"
Qin Ange scratched his head, seemingly unable to think of a better solution. His face flushed red before he finally managed to stammer out, "I agree with Brother Qingyu's approach!"
Su Qinghe's lips twitched. After holding back for so long, she thought he would come up with some good ideas.
"And you?" she asked Ling Feng.
Ling Feng was taken aback, seemingly surprised that he was included among the "everyone" she had just mentioned.
But he quickly regained his composure, and after thinking for a moment, he said seriously, "It would be best to just kill him!"
"If you don't want to see blood, I have some less painful poison here. Would you like some?"
He looked at Su Qinghe with a serious expression.
"Poison is not easy to make; it's not worth it for such a small matter."
Su Qinghe paused for a moment, then silently waved her hand.
Seeing that she didn't seem really interested, Ling Feng was a little disappointed and turned his gaze back to the empty bowl in front of him.
The two of them remained calm and composed, but the other men looked at them strangely.
Qin Ange looked at Ling Feng with even more admiration, while Lin Xize seemed to be shocked, her eyes filled with disbelief as she looked at Ling Feng.
Su Qinghe then turned her gaze to Ji Yuan, who was the only one left who hadn't spoken.
Ji Yuan opened his mouth, seemingly hesitant.
"Say what you want to say, don't worry about anything else." Seeing that he seemed to have some concerns, Su Qinghe comforted him.
Having received assurances, Ji Yuan spoke up.
"For men with impure intentions who like to use despicable means to seduce women, I think the most suitable place for them is a brothel."
"Snap!"
Lin Xi's chopsticks fell to the ground.
He stared at Ji Yuan in shock, still reeling from Ling Feng's words, and now he was hearing such things from the usually gentle and polite Ji Yuan. He was momentarily unable to accept it.
"Brother Yuan, why are you..."
He opened his mouth, looking at him helplessly, while the others, including Su Qinghe, were also full of surprise.
Ji Yuan tightened his grip, feeling somewhat uneasy.
"Why do you think so?" Su Qinghe asked curiously.
She was initially dissatisfied with the answers from the men, and she was worried about not being able to find someone to set an example for Lin Xi. Now it seems that Ji Yuan is indeed the one who understands her best.
