Shen Jianguo could no longer contain himself. He flew into a rage, veins bulging on his neck, and roared at the top of his lungs, "Bullshit! Say it again!"
Xie Yan gasped in shock; these two were in a bloodthirsty frenzy!
This kind of thing has been brought up again.
Next came the greetings between the two to each other's ancestors for eighteen generations.
Xie Yan exclaimed that his eyes had been opened, "This cultured person is just as good as an ordinary person when he's cursing!"
The funniest thing was Wang Xiao. Xie Yan also learned something new. This guy didn't say much, but he didn't waste a single word. He directly brought the group, who had gone off-topic for miles, back on track.
Song Jianshe, spitting as he spoke, shouted, "Listen to yourself! Is this even human language?"
"Who told you that Brother Chen forbids Wang Yindi from getting married?"
"Did this good-for-nothing next to you say that?"
As he spoke, he took a big step forward, pointed at Wang Xiao, and stared at her with eyes as wide as saucers. "Come on, stand up and tell me, why can't we allow you to marry Wang Yindi?"
"Come out and say something! Or have you gone deaf?" The voice was like a booming bell, making Xie Yan's eardrums ache and his head buzz.
Wang Xiao seemed genuinely frightened. He shrank back several steps, instinctively protecting himself with his hands. His timid and hesitant appearance resembled that of a startled quail.
Yuzhen saw all of this and immediately stepped forward to stand in front of Wang Xiao, her eyes full of concern and protection: "Wang Xiao, don't be afraid. This educated youth settlement is not something that Shen Jianguo can control all by himself."
"Just tell us what's wrong. We're here for you. We'll make sure you don't suffer any losses." The others echoed, and in an instant, the female educated youths surrounded Wang Xiao, forming a protective barrier.
Wang Xiao looked up, smiled gratefully, and kept saying thank you before bowing deeply. The moment she looked up, her eyes reddened, making her look like an innocent, frightened little rabbit, utterly endearing.
Xie Yan watched this scene, shook his head inwardly, and couldn't help but sigh: "Ah! This Wang Xiao is a real talent. If he marries Wang Yindi, she'll definitely be completely under his control."
"This guy seems to understand women very well and knows exactly how to manipulate their emotions."
A glint flashed in Xie Yan's eyes. It seemed that Wang Xiao's identity was not simple! He was definitely not what he claimed to be.
Xie Yan couldn't help but feel a strong curiosity about his background.
In the brief moment of Xie Yan's distraction, the intense noise gradually subsided, as if it were about to come to an end.
However, Xie Yan never expected that the storm he thought was about to subside would suddenly turn against him, and trouble came knocking on his door without warning.
With a seemingly helpless yet slightly bitter smile on his face, Wang Xiao said, "I'm about to marry Yin Di, and then I'll be considered half a local."
"If all else fails, I'll go ask the brigade leader to see if I can find a family to stay with for a few days."
"Let's not argue anymore, it's really not worth it."
It's unclear what words touched a nerve with Wang Hongmei, but she exploded like a powder keg, shouting at the top of her lungs, "Yes, we'll find the brigade leader and have him settle this!" As soon as she finished speaking, her gaze went straight to Xie Yan.
In an instant, everyone's eyes were drawn to Xie Yan.
Xie Yan was bewildered by the sudden gaze, and subconsciously frowned, asking in confusion, "Why are you looking at me?"
Seeing this, Yuzhen quickly stepped forward, grabbed Xie Yan's sleeve, and forcefully pulled him into the crowd, saying urgently, "You're the captain's son-in-law! Come here and tell me what to do about this!"
Xie Yan frowned deeply, forcefully breaking free from Yu Zhen's grasp. He glanced coldly at Wang Xiao, his expression blank, and raised his voice, saying, "Are you mistaken? I'm just the brigade leader's son-in-law, not his son, nor even him personally. What can I say about this?"
"Besides, it's one thing for you to cause trouble in the educated youth settlement, but do you really want to go out and embarrass yourselves?"
"What, do you think your reputation isn't big enough, and you want the whole village to know about it?"
“That works too. It’s snowing heavily, and the villagers have nothing to do. They’re really bored. You can go over there and help them pass the time.”
After speaking, he looked at the crowd with a sarcastic expression.
The scene instantly fell silent.
The cold north wind howled, blowing across everyone's faces, calming the already agitated crowd somewhat in the biting chill.
Recalling the previous disputes with the villagers over some trivial matters, the villagers' attitude towards the educated youth was not very friendly to begin with. If this matter were to escalate to the brigade leader, it would not only embarrass the educated youth, but also make their already precarious reputation even worse.
The crowd exchanged bewildered glances, and a moment of silence fell over the scene.
Wang Xiao slightly raised his head, looking intently at Xie Yan with a profound and unfathomable gaze. Then, he slowly lowered his head, his voice tinged with guilt, and whispered, "I'm sorry, it's all because of me that everyone has been dragged into this. I'm truly sorry."
After saying that, he bowed slightly, looking as if he was sincerely admitting his mistake.
When Xie Yan heard Wang Xiao's apology, he felt annoyed and couldn't help but roll his eyes. He thought to himself: Here we go again. Is he determined to keep arguing forever?
They argued so enthusiastically that they didn't seem to mind, while I was exhausted just watching them.
I really don't want to waste any more time with these idiots.
Thinking of this, he pursed his lips, glanced at Gu Bin who was protecting Zhang Linghui in the distance, nodded slightly, and without saying a word, pushed through the crowd and prepared to go home.
A cold wind blew, stirring up dust on the ground and ruffling his hair, adding to his irritability.
Seeing Xie Yan about to leave, Yu Zhen panicked and, without thinking, rushed forward, grabbing his arm again. Her nails almost dug into Xie Yan's sleeve, and her tone was firm and unyielding: "You can't leave!"
Xie Yan paused, slowly turned his head, and looked at Yu Zhen with a cold gaze like a cold star. His voice was so cold that it seemed to freeze: "What, is there some kind of tyrannical rule at this educated youth settlement that allows entry but not exit?"
"Did you not hear a single word I just said?" Every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, filled with obvious impatience.
Yu Zhen's face flushed instantly from the cold gaze and sharp words. As if burned, she released Xie Yan's hand, her fingers curling uncomfortably. Her face turned pale and red in turns, full of embarrassment and helplessness.
Seeing this, Wang Hongmei immediately perked up.
