Hearing Xie Yan's voice, she shouted back in her childish voice, "You speak!"
The little girl knew perfectly well that her father, this "big idiot," was deliberately trying to make her make a mistake by giving her a difficult question while she was taking a bath and not paying attention.
Thinking of this, Chaochao couldn't help but chuckle to herself: Hahaha! Dad's wishful thinking has backfired this time!
She's such a smart and clever little girl, how could she possibly make such a basic mistake?
Hearing the little guy's changed voice, Xie Yan's lips curled up, and a mischievous smile flashed in his eyes. "Didn't you just say that boys can't go into girls' bathrooms? But Daddy just carried him in. Do you think that's right?"
Chaochao instantly understood what her father meant and quickly stopped playing. "No, it's because you're my father that I can carry Chaochao in. Other boys definitely wouldn't be able to; they would have been kicked out by Chaochao long ago."
Xie Yan nodded silently, "It's good that you still remember."
Xie Yan's mind raced, and with a sly look on his face, he asked, "Chaochao, would it be okay if we replaced your dad with your uncle or brother instead?"
"No!" These two words, like a thunderclap, rang out loudly from inside the room with absolute determination, followed by another resolute "Nobody!"
Chaochao continued angrily, "Even you, Dad, only help a little because Chaochao is still young and needs help."
"When Chaochao turns three, she'll be able to take a bath by herself! Then she won't need you, Daddy."
Hearing this, Xie Yan was filled with satisfaction, a pleased smile spreading across his face. He said gently, "That's great! It seems Chaochao has remembered everything Daddy said perfectly. Daddy will reward you with a piece of candy!"
"Really?" When Chaochao heard that she could get an extra candy, her eyes lit up like two little stars. She was so excited that she stood up in the bathtub with a "whoosh" and splashed a lot of water.
Xie Yan stood outside, and just by hearing the commotion, he knew what was happening inside without even going in.
He imagined the room covered in water, feeling both annoyed and amused, and couldn't help but shout, "Chao Chao, if you make this much water on the floor again, you'll have to wipe it all clean yourself after your bath!"
Hearing her father's words, Chaochao glanced guiltily at the puddle of water she had just stirred up. Her little face flushed slightly, and she mischievously stuck out her tongue. Then, like a frightened little hamster, she quietly and slowly submerged into the water, leaving only her big, bright eyes showing.
Xie Yan was worried that something might happen to the young child inside, so she waited outside. When she felt that it was about time, she called out to the child inside, "Chao Chao, are you done washing?"
Chaochao, who was still playing, heard the sound and quickly started washing, shouting back, "Almost done, almost done, just wait a little longer, it'll be done in a bit."
Xie Yan glanced at his watch. "Okay, I'll give you two minutes."
But by the time Xie Yan brought the child out, thirty minutes had already passed, and Yu Yuehui, who had returned to cook, had already finished preparing the dishes before the two of them came out of the bathroom.
The main problem was that mopping the bathroom took too long, and that was only with Xie Yan's help. If Chaochao had to do it alone, who knows when she would have finished.
When Xie Yan came out, he saw his wife cooking in the kitchen. He wanted to hug her, but he held back because of the little darling in front of him. He looked at his wife with a wronged expression and took Chaochao to the well under Yu Yuehui's smiling gaze.
Xie Yan arrived at the well, bent down to open the well cover, grasped the handle of the windlass, and turned it one by one. As the rope was slowly lowered, the iron bucket fell into the well.
A short while later, he lifted the bucket full of water up and gently placed it aside.
At this moment, Chaochao beside him could no longer contain herself. She leaned forward, her eyes fixed on the well opening, looking eager to try it out.
Seeing this, Xie Yan couldn't help but smile indulgently and asked softly, "Want to see?"
Chaochao nodded vigorously, her little face full of curiosity.
In her little mind, she kept wondering what the inside of the well was like, whether it really had a majestic dragon like in the stories, and whether following this well could really lead to the mysterious dragon palace.
But the adults always forbade her to go near the well, let alone look at it.
The more she was prevented from seeing what was going on, the stronger Chaochao's desire to find out became.
Xie Yan looked into Chaochao's large, inquisitive eyes and couldn't help but smile again. He knew that the little one was full of curiosity about the world beyond the well.
Instead of constantly being on guard, it's better to simply satisfy her little curiosity. The way to demystify something is to let her have it.
Otherwise, who knows, one day when I'm not paying attention, she might sneak off and open the manhole cover, that would be the real danger. He beckoned, "Come here, Dad will show you."
Upon hearing that she could really drive, Chaochao took a few steps and ran to Xie Yan's side.
Xie Yan held the child by the waist and made her lie down by the well to observe.
Chaochao looked at the well water with great interest. Wow! It was like this! It was completely different from what she had imagined. The color of the water was also different from that by the water's edge. She lowered her head and searched carefully inside, trying to find the shadow of the White Dragon. She didn't see the monkey. She wanted to look further inside, but Xie Yan pulled her away.
Chaochao looked at Xie Yan with some confusion, completely unaware of what had happened. "Daddy, where did our little white dragon from the well go?"
"I haven't found it yet?" The White Dragon was the name Chaochao heard from her maternal grandfather; he was the third prince of the Dragon Palace.
Xie Yan gently poked her forehead with his fingertip, "Little White Dragon, you know? You almost fell in, you know."
Chaochao shook his head honestly.
Xie Yan was furious and said in a very serious tone, "Do you know why your father didn't let you watch the well water by yourself before?"
Chaochao shook her head, then nodded, "Because it's dangerous." But she didn't know what kind of danger it was.
Xie Yan gently but firmly ruffled Chaochao's half-dry hair and said seriously, "You still know danger! If your father hadn't held you tightly just now, you probably would have fallen into the well by now."
He deliberately lowered his voice, creating a mysterious and terrifying atmosphere, "You know, our well is said to be connected to the Dragon Palace. Its depth is unimaginable. Even if you were a hundred miles away, you would be submerged and disappear without a trace the moment you fell in."
As he spoke, Xie Yan paused, staring intently at Chaochao, and asked seriously, "Think about it carefully. You're just an ordinary little girl, not a little white dragon who can't breathe underwater. What would happen if you really fell in?"
