Chapter 520 Chaochao's Room

Chaochao looked closely and saw that the house next door was just as nice as her own.

Most importantly, this house is so close to their home, which will make it much more convenient for them to play with Tongtong in the future. They nodded with great satisfaction.

"Wow! That's great! We can play house here now!" Chaochao excitedly pointed to the tree next to her house. Behind that tree was the alley between the two houses. It wasn't very wide, just enough for an adult to pass through. It was indeed a perfect place to play house.

Tongtong nodded excitedly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. She also thought this place was a great place to play house, and she was overjoyed that her older sister Chaochao had the same idea.

Xie Yan opened the door, and Chaochao, like a happy little rabbit, rushed in and immediately started looking for her room.

He looked at the door of each house before turning to Xie Yan and asking, "Father, which one is my room?"

Xie Yan pointed to the pink curtains and said, "That pink one is yours!"

When Chaochao heard that the one she had just looked at and really liked was actually hers, she ran straight inside.

Xie Yan smiled at her lively appearance, turned around and pointed to the house where wisps of smoke were rising from the chimney, and said to Yue Hui, "Wife, that's our room."

"Let's go, let's take the things over and put them inside."

Yu Yue waved her hand and took the luggage from Xie Yan's hand. "I can go by myself. You go and check on Chaochao. Don't let her tear the house down!"

Upon hearing this, Xie Yan's heart tightened. This little girl, Chaochao, was very mischievous. Whenever she encountered something she didn't understand or couldn't comprehend, she would immediately take it apart to examine it. He wondered where she had picked up this bad habit.

They quickly walked into Chaochao's room.

Yu Yue only breathed a sigh of relief after Xie Yan had passed away. From the moment she arrived in the capital until now, she had felt as if everything was in a dream, an unreal and dazed feeling. This feeling was even stronger when she saw this house.

They took a deep breath and walked towards their own house.

Stepping into the house, a wave of warmth washed over her. She looked up and saw the stove burning brightly and the kang (a heated brick bed) neatly made. A smile appeared on her lips, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. Looking around, she felt even more grateful to Aunt Gu next door.

She knew in her heart that all of this was thanks to Gu's mother.

From the moment she entered the house, she sensed that it had been meticulously cleaned and tidied, and was not something that had been hastily put together.

As mentioned before the banquet, a key was left with Gu's mother, so it's obvious who would come over to clean regularly.

Thinking of all that Gu's mother had done for them, Yu Yuehui thought she must send more dried goods that she had brought from her hometown to the Gu family.

She hurriedly put down her luggage, not even having time to properly look around the brand-new house, and started thinking about what gifts to give to the Gu family. Before long, she had packed a large bag.

On the other side, Chaochao finally found her room. As soon as she pushed open the door, her eyes widened in surprise.

The bed was covered with pink sheets, the color of which matched her clothes perfectly, as did the curtains.

What she liked most was the small table and stools there. She couldn't wait to go over and sit on the footstool. As soon as she sat down, her view changed instantly, and she saw a wider world.

Chaochao patted the table with satisfaction.

When Xie Yan entered the house, he saw her sitting with her legs crossed and her hands on the chair, acting like a big shot. It was obvious that she had copied Yu Shan's way of doing things at home.

The corner of his mouth twitched; it's true that you can't learn the good things, but you can learn the bad things at a glance.

Other thank-you banquets are one thing, but crossing your legs is bad for a child's development, so he said sternly, "Put your legs in the right place. Have you forgotten how I told you? Crossing your legs is bad for your health!"

Chaochao quickly dropped his arrogant demeanor, sat up straight, and looked at him ingratiatingly, "Dad, did you make this chair for me?"

Xie Yan nodded, "Of course, this was made for you by your father at a high price. Do you like it?"

Chaochao nodded vigorously, "Mmm, I like it~"

Xie Yan looked at her fawning manner and chuckled, gently rubbing her cheek. "Don't you want to look at something else?"

Chaochao quickly jumped off the chair, "Look!"

She loved every part of the house; she felt like she couldn't see enough of it all.

When she saw the huge white plush bear on the bed, she let out a "whoosh" and pounced on it.

Xie Yan also saw the bear and thought that it must have been specially bought by Gu's mother for Chaochao, as he had never seen such a toy before.

Chaochao hugged the polar bear excitedly, her eyes sparkling with excitement, and turned to Xie Yan to ask, "Dad, is this for me?"

Xie Yan smiled and nodded, patiently instructing, "This should have been bought for you by Grandma Gu, the one who gave you the red envelope. When we go over later, you must thank her properly."

Chaochao nodded obediently, hugged the polar bear, and jumped off the bed. Her gaze was then drawn to the snow-white walls. She reached out and gently touched them, discovering that the color didn't fade. This piqued her curiosity, so she lay there studying them for quite a while.

After studying the walls, Chaochao turned her attention to the bed. She had been too excited to look at the bed properly, so she ran over to examine it.

She had never seen a bed before. Seeing her curious expression, Xie Yan gently lifted her onto the bed and said with a smile, "Come on, feel it."

As soon as Chaochao sat down, she felt the softness beneath her. Her eyes widened with excitement, and she exclaimed in surprise, "Dad, it's soft! It's different from the kang (heated brick bed) at home!"

Xie Yan couldn't help but laugh out loud. How could these be the same?

There was no kang (heated brick bed) in the room, so he specially made her a super thick mattress and a large, thick quilt to keep her warm.

Then think about the kang (heated brick bed) in my hometown. In order to make it warmer in winter, it was only covered with a thin blanket. The two are simply incomparable.

Seeing that Chaochao was still immersed in admiring her room and had already seen everything she wanted to see, Xie Yan greeted her and told her to ask him if she didn't understand anything, and not to take things apart randomly, as everything in the room had been bought with money and couldn't be dismantled.

After Chaochao agreed, he turned to look at his wife.

Upon entering the house, Xie Yan noticed that his wife was neither sitting on the kang (a heated brick bed) to rest nor curiously looking around the house as he had imagined. Instead, she was already packing her luggage.

He sighed helplessly, feeling both sorry for his wife and somewhat amused by her diligence. He stepped forward and said softly, "Honey, you've been on the train for so long, why don't you rest for a bit?"

Yu Yue shook her head. "I'm not tired. You go and rest first."

As she spoke, her hands continued working. Looking at Xie Yan, she said, "I just checked, there's water boiling in the stove. You go wash up and rest first. I'll be done soon. Just these two pieces of clothing are left to finish."

Xie Yan smiled helplessly; he really couldn't do anything about his wife being so diligent.
