Chapter 569 Clinic Opening

Soon, the children all went to school happily, leaving Xie Yan alone at home.

He tidied up the downstairs area carefully, preparing to open the clinic.

In fact, as soon as he returned, Zheng Hedong tried to persuade him to work at the People's Hospital.

Xie Yan, however, refused to go no matter what.

The reason is simple: going to the People's Hospital is just like going to work!

In this era, everyone is very dedicated, especially doctors. They save lives and heal the wounded, and they have no idea when they will get off work. They have no time for themselves at all.

He was determined to never work a regular job and live off his wife, but in order to dissuade his master from trying to recruit him to work at the hospital, he told him about his plan to open a clinic.

Upon hearing this, Zheng Hedong thought it was a good idea and immediately urged Xie Yan to submit the application materials. Xie Yan, unable to resist his urging, submitted all the materials before Yu Yue returned to school for the start of the semester.

Sure enough, the approval came through a few days ago.

However, Xie Yan has been busy during this period, and the clinic has not yet opened.

Only after everyone had left did he finally have some free time, and then he slowly began preparing for the opening. Even when he opened, he planned to do it quietly, without telling anyone, and simply hang a small sign on his front door.

After all, he already has a group of loyal patients. If Xie Yan opens a clinic, they will come to him for treatment, which he would absolutely not want.

When Mao Dan came back in the afternoon and learned that his uncle's clinic had opened, he couldn't help but run to the front gate to take a look. When he saw the sign, his eyes widened and he said in surprise, "Uncle, what's the difference between hanging up this sign and not hanging it up at all?"

"Even with my excellent eyesight, I didn't see it!"

Xie Yan walked over with a smile, reached out and grabbed Mao Dan, who was dangling back and forth at the door, and said in a feigned serious tone, "Doesn't that prove that your eyesight is bad? See, what did I tell you? I told you to watch less 'Journey to the West' at night, but you didn't listen. Your eyesight has already started to deteriorate."

Mao Dan was speechless and could only helplessly purse his lips: It was clearly his uncle's sign that was written as "small," yet he blamed himself for coming.

That evening, when Yu Yue returned home, she heard Mao Dan's complaint. Curious, she went outside to check, worried that she might have missed it in her haste to come home.

When she saw the small sign, she fell silent; it was so inconspicuous.

Xie Yan remained calm upon seeing this, and even said confidently, "Good wine needs no bush."

Chaochao, who was standing to the side, really wanted to say something like, "Dad, this is a clinic, not a winery."

But when the words were on the tip of her tongue, she opened her mouth, but ultimately chose to remain silent.

Oh well, if his dad likes it this way, then let him be.

And so, Xie Yan's clinic opened quietly.

During the initial period after the business opened, Xie Yan was incredibly relaxed.

There weren't many patients at his clinic each day, so he would either leisurely read medical books, immersing himself in the ocean of medical knowledge, or lie on a recliner, taking a nap in the warm sunshine and enjoying this rare moment of comfort.

When it's time for his child to get out of school, he leisurely goes to pick him up.

After picking up the child for a few days, Xie Yan became a little impatient, feeling that running around every day was too troublesome.

So he had two small bicycles custom-made, one for Maodan and one for Chaochao.

As for the remaining two smaller ones, the two larger ones can bring them back when they come back.

But his carefree days were completely over after Zheng Hedong's visit.

Zheng Hedong told someone about Xie Yan opening a clinic, and the news spread like wildfire.

From then on, Xie Yan officially began her daily "work" routine from 9 am to 5 pm.

Fortunately, he owns a clinic, so he can set a time for himself to take a two-hour lunch break. Once it's time, he decides to leave work and not work overtime for even a second.

Even so, people who heard the news still came to see the doctor in an endless stream.

Some people just followed the crowd, and when they saw how young Xie Yan was, they were full of distrust and insisted that Xie Yan was an apprentice and that his master should come out.

Whenever Xie Yan encounters a patient like this, he smiles sincerely and says, "My master works at the People's Hospital. Go find him there." His smile is full of sincerity, without a trace of perfunctoriness.

Upon hearing that Xie Yan had a mentor who worked at the People's Hospital, the patient's initial skepticism softened slightly. He secretly thought to himself, "Perhaps this young doctor really does have some skills, after all, he has such a powerful mentor."

Is Xie Yan the kind of person who would let them have their way?

He looked completely at ease and said bluntly, "I'm sorry, uncle, I can't treat your illness here. You should go see my master."

Upon hearing this, the patient was first taken aback, then a surge of anger rose on his face, his eyes widened, and his face was full of disbelief, as if he had been greatly offended.

After all, they just said it could be cured, and I only had a reasonable doubt about it, so it can't be cured now?

It's obvious they're not giving him any face!

"Hmph!" He snorted heavily, flicked his sleeve, and turned to leave angrily, his steps hurried and heavy, as if he wanted to vent his anger through the ground.

This person not only left in a huff, but also harbored resentment, spreading rumors and embellishments about the Xie Yan banquet.

After all this commotion, many patients who had been recommended by friends and acquaintances and were looking forward to seeing Xie Yan Clinic changed their minds after hearing these negative rumors and went to other hospitals, including People's Hospital.

And so, thanks to that uncle's tireless "promotion," Xie Yan's clinic finally became a bit quieter.

For Xie Yan, this was undoubtedly a welcome surprise. He could finally relax and "slack off" again, and he was overjoyed.

The clinic was quiet, with no patients and the rest of the family at school. Warm sunlight streamed through the windows, gently illuminating a corner of the clinic. Xie Yan reclined comfortably in a deck chair, picked up a book, covered his face with it, and relaxed completely. He closed his eyes and soon drifted off to sleep.

As usual, Chaochao and Maodan brought their younger siblings home from school.

As soon as they arrived at their doorstep, the usual hustle and bustle of the clinic was gone, and the house was unusually quiet, which made them feel a little uneasy.

Chaochao subconsciously assumed that her father was not home, so she grabbed her younger brother and sister and ran into the house to check.

Upon entering the room, a familiar scene came into view: Xie Yan was lying on a recliner, fast asleep. His face still had a touch of languor, and a book was askew beside him, rising and falling slightly with his even breathing.
