origin
The plane arrived in North City around noon.
Because they woke up so early, both groups began to fall asleep in the taxi on the way home. In Jiang Han's car, only Sheng Yao, sitting in the passenger seat, was still alert, concentrating on playing his game.
Just as I was about to start the next game, a message from the class group suddenly popped up on the top of the screen, from Jiang Ning.
Sheng Yao paused, turned his head back, and called out, "Ran Ran, it seems the results of our nine-school joint entrance exam are out."
"Hmm?" Xia Ran groggily responded, yawning and asking, "What came out?"
Qi Wuchen, who was standing next to him, suddenly opened his eyes and looked at him, then whispered, "Let me see."
Sheng Yao choked and looked back at him strangely: "Brother Chen, you're not asleep?"
Qi Wuchen's eyes were bright: "Not yet." He just wanted to stick to Ling Jianghan.
Sheng Yao thought to himself, why are you leaning on someone else's shoulder if you're not sleepy? But in the end, he just stared at Qi Wuchen and asked, "Brother Chen, where's your phone?"
Ling Jianghan beside him moved. Qi Wuchen reached out and touched the other's fingers twice, and without even looking at Sheng Yao, he replied, "It's not convenient to take it." The coat he was wearing today had no pockets.
Sheng Yao wanted to ask him if there was anything inconvenient for him to take, but just as he opened his mouth, Ling Jianghan took out a cell phone and put it in Qi Wuchen's hand.
“…” Sheng Yao turned his head back silently.
Is this considered puppy love? Is this considered puppy love? Report it to Xiao Jiang and you'll get a reward.
He was just thinking about it when Ling Jianghan's voice suddenly rang out from behind him: "Don't crowd towards me, I'm almost dying of heat."
"Then don't stick to the car window," Qi Wuchen said as he pulled the person towards him, "You'll easily bump your head."
"No..." Jiang Han was interrupted by a cell phone ringing when he was about to say something in rebuttal.
Qi Wuchen lowered his eyes and picked up the phone, and saw the two big words "Lao Qi" displayed at the top of the screen.
He answered the phone under Ling Jianghan's gaze and said "Hello" tentatively.
Qi Zhinian on the other end hummed, sounding cheerful and in a much gentler voice than usual: "Have you reached North City yet?"
"We're here," Qi Wuchen answered truthfully, "but we're going out to have lunch together at noon."
"Come back and eat," Qi Zhinian said, "Auntie Yun prepared lunch for you. I also have something to tell you."
Qi Wuchen subconsciously frowned and asked, "What's the matter?"
Qi Zhinian could tell he was overthinking it, but he didn't explain. He just smiled mysteriously and said, "Of course it's a good thing."
"What good news can't happen over the phone..."
"Qi Wuchen, you are two points short." Ling Jianghan suddenly interrupted him without any context.
"What?" Qi Wuchen's brows furrowed even tighter. "What do you mean by two points?"
Qi Zhinian on the other end of the phone suddenly laughed heartily. Qi Wuchen saw Ling Jianghan's thin lips move slightly beside him, and said to him calmly, "You are only two points away from the third place in the nine-school joint entrance examination."
In other words, Qi Wuchen was ranked fourth and just missed the qualification for admission this year.
He began to doubt his ears, pointed at himself and asked in disbelief: "Me? I'm two points short?"
"Could it be that I'm two points short?" Qi Zhinian suddenly stopped smiling, his tone becoming serious and cold: "Bring Jiang Han back for dinner, quickly."
"..." Qi Wuchen turned around helplessly and looked at Ling Jianghan with the phone in his hand. The three words "It's all your fault" were clearly written on the other's face.
Qi Wuchen shrugged his shoulders to indicate that he felt wronged as well.
When they got home, the dishes had not been served yet, but Qi Zhinian called Ling Jianghan and Qi Wuchen into the study together.
In the study, Qi Wuchen habitually walked towards Qi Zhinian's desk with his long legs. He hadn't taken a few steps when Qi Zhinian patted his shoulders twice, "Sit over there."
Qi Wuchen said "Oh" and turned to walk towards the single sofa beside him.
Jiang Han, who was behind him, subconsciously wanted to catch up, but Qi Zhinian called out to him, "Jiang Han, sit here."
"Okay." Ling Jianghan had no choice but to sit down opposite Qi Zhinian obediently.
"I just took some time to look at the results of your nine-school joint entrance exam." Qi Zhinian turned the phone on the table, looked up at Ling Jianghan and said, "Jianghan, you did very well in the exam this time."
Before Ling Jianghan could say anything, Qi Wuchen on the other side said first: "He also did very well in the previous exams."
"..." Jiang Han looked at Qi Wuchen indifferently.
Qi Wuchen tactfully lowered his eyes and stopped talking.
"Heh." Qi Zhinian saw Qi Wuchen like this for the first time and couldn't help but feel fresh and couldn't help laughing out loud.
Ling Jianghan then said to Qi Zhinian, "It's because Qi Wuchen has been helping me with my studies that I have achieved such satisfactory results."
"I've checked in with your homeroom teacher about your past performance. You've made significant progress compared to before." Qi Zhinian's tone became much friendlier, his smile full of admiration. "Although this kid has certainly helped you a lot, if you didn't have that drive, you wouldn't have achieved the results you've achieved."
Jiang Han didn't know how to respond, so he just said "hmm" softly.
"So, I asked him to call you here today because I wanted to give you a gift."
"Gift?" Jiang Han was stunned by Qi Zhinian's words.
Qi Wuchen next to him frowned, but before he could say anything, he saw Qi Zhinian take out a square white box from the drawer.
Before Ling Jianghan could ask, Qi Zhinian pushed the small box to his side and said, "This is a little gadget I bought a while ago. I can't use it now, but maybe I can in three or four years."
Jiang Han subconsciously wanted to refuse, but just as he opened his mouth, he felt someone pulling his sleeve from behind.
He turned his head, but Qi Wuchen didn't look at him. He smiled and said to Qi Zhinian across from him, "Thank you, Dad."
"I..." Jiang Han was speechless at the man's shamelessness. Before he could finish his words, Qi Wuchen had already picked up the box on the table and threw it into his pocket.
When Qi Zhinian saw something go into Ling Jianghan's pocket, he immediately stood up and said, "Let's go downstairs to eat. I heard Xiaoyun coming upstairs."
"Okay." Qi Wuchen pulled Ling Jianghan and walked behind Qi Zhinian.
Ling Jiang Han frowned and glanced at Qi Wuchen, silently asking why the other party accepted the gift without his consent.
Qi Wuchen stared at him and shrugged nonchalantly.
Jiang Han got an answer from the other person's eyes: Why don't you want it for free?
“…”
When they went downstairs to eat, they didn't see Qi Chiyue, so Qi Wuchen asked out of curiosity: "Where is my sister?"
"At your grandmother's." Yun Ren said, then he remembered: "Oh, she went there this morning, bringing Chuyi and Maotai with her."
Jiang Han paused as he was about to pick up some food.
Qi Wuchen was obviously shocked by this answer, and it took him a while before he started moving the chopsticks again.
He put the fish meat with the bones removed into Ling Jianghan's bowl and spoke again in an unusually calm tone: "Then you go pick up Xiaowan later, and I'll pick up Chuyi and Maotai."
Ling Jianghan did not refute him at this moment, but said "hmm" in a good mood.
"Xiao Wan?" Qi Zhinian asked, "Who is Xiao Wan?"
When he asked this, Qi Wuchen began to think seriously, as if thinking about how to give a simple and clear answer.
Ling Jianghan, who was standing next to him, waited for a moment before finally swallowing the fish in his mouth. He explained to Qi Zhinian truthfully, "She's a little girl. My friend took good care of her when he was alive. Now, she's temporarily living with us because of some things."
"Little sister?" Yun Ren frowned slightly as he looked at Qi Wuchen and asked with a worried tone, "You are still children yourselves. Is it really okay for you to take care of other people's children?"
After these words were spoken, Jiang Han and Qi Wuchen did not respond.
Since school hasn't started yet, there's nothing wrong with Yun Xiaowan living with them.
But what will happen when school starts? Where will Yun Xiaowan go to continue her studies? Who will pick her up from school?
There were too many things Zhou Yuyi didn't do and too few things she left behind. Yun Xiaowan was a good relationship she had established during her lifetime, making it difficult for Jiang Han to ignore her.
So after a while, Qi Wuchen suddenly said something without any context: "Xiao Wan's personality is completely opposite to Xiao Yun's."
