Chapter 12 Good People

After giving the warning, the old servant flicked his sleeves and left without looking back.

Xiang Sheng had no choice but to stay where he was and watch the young man in fancy clothes go upstairs and enter the only stateroom on the ship.

The captain of the boat saw what was happening and said, "This young master is truly kindhearted. Those wicked beggars have been clinging to the city officials, using the pretext of checking their identities to collect protection fees. I can't afford to offend them, and they've been holding me off the boat. If he hadn't come to my rescue, you would have had to go swimming today."

Xiang Sheng's face was filled with gratitude: "You and that noble man are both great benefactors. I really have no way to repay you."

"Alright, you poor scholar."

The captain waved his hand and said, "The boat is about to leave. Go back to your room and stop making trouble."

Xiang Sheng nodded repeatedly and left as he was told.

Seeing this, the old servant upstairs turned around and walked over to the young man who was sitting with his eyes closed, saying in a tone that was not without blame, "Your Highness, I'm not blaming you, but you shouldn't have let that little beggar on board. How can you be so presumptuous at this critical moment?"

The young man suddenly opened his eyes and glared at the old servant. The old servant immediately realized something and immediately changed his words: "Master..."

"I know what you are talking about."

The young man shook his head. "Putting aside the little beggar's issue, if those hooligans start making a scene, it would be a real eyesore. Why not just pay ten cents to settle the matter so we can leave in peace?"

The old servant suddenly understood what was going on. "So that's how it is. I was confused, but that little beggar..."

"Don't worry about him."

The young man was remarkably calm. "If they were really those people, why would they bother pretending? They'd just come straight at us. We can't stop them."

The old servant nodded worriedly. "That being said, please don't go out again! We're just a little further along the waterway and we'll be at the border of the Lu State. If we're discovered, then... there'll be no hope."

The boy's face darkened slightly, "I know, go down."

"Then I won't disturb your rest."

The old servant bowed his head and left the room.

The boy's ears quieted down and he sighed softly. His mind was in a mess and for some reason he thought of Xiang Sheng again.

He has never been nosy, let alone kind.

But he was on the deck at the time, amazed at the beggar's ragged clothes and disfigurement, yet still with a pair of deep and determined eyes, and somehow he let go.

While I was daydreaming, the merchant ship finally slowly left the dock and embarked on its journey.

In the lower room, Xiang Sheng sat cross-legged, took out the last half gourd of spring water, and took a small sip.

While recuperating in the mountains, she accidentally discovered that the spring water had the effect of a panacea and could speed up the absorption of spiritual energy.

There is a saying that elixirs can cause poisoning, so one should not consume too much of them. However, spring water does not have this limitation and is easier to absorb, making it a better resource for cultivation than elixirs.

Xiang Sheng simply named it Lingquan. Unfortunately, she was in danger frequently in the mountains and was seriously injured several times. She used Lingquan almost all of her injuries.

Without giving it any more thought, Xiang Sheng put aside all distracting thoughts and quickly entered a state of concentration and cultivation.

The spiritual spring water entered his body and was transformed into true essence, and his cultivation level increased at a speed almost visible to the naked eye.

I don’t know how long it took, but I heard a light “pop” sound, and the fragile meridian barrier was broken, and the true energy in the dantian suddenly grew stronger.

Xiang Sheng suddenly opened his eyes, his gaze was bright, and he exhaled a breath of muddy white air.

I have broken through to the fifth level of Qi training.

The light in his eyes faded, and Xiang Sheng's expression remained normal.

The Qi training period is still in the stage of accumulating true essence. As long as there is enough spiritual energy to support it, a breakthrough can be achieved. It is nothing.

She shook the gourd and heard the shallow sound of water inside. She couldn't help but sigh, put it away for emergency use and didn't use it again.

It was night time now and the house was pitch black.

Xiang Sheng stood up and lit an oil lamp, then took out the stone plate and examined it carefully under the dim, flickering light.

After she took the stone disc, the stone chamber quickly collapsed, and the path to the spring and the natural cave disappeared. There must be a connection between them. Perhaps this stone disc was the key to condensing the spiritual spring.

During this period, she took out this thing to study whenever she had free time, but so far, she has gained nothing.

"ah!"

While he was studying, a very short scream suddenly came from outside. The scream was not loud, but it was particularly harsh in the quiet night.

Xiang Sheng's expression was slightly serious. With a flash of light in his hand, the stone plate immediately disappeared, and was replaced by the bone knife from before.

She quietly got out of bed, walked to the blind spot where the door was open, leaned against the wooden board and listened carefully, but she did not hear any similar sound again.

The entire merchant ship was dead silent.
