Chapter 237 Returning Home

Xiang Jianjue heard the joking tone in Li Changting's words and snorted coldly, "If you don't believe me, forget it. There's no need for perfunctory courtesy. I can agree to your deal, but I can't guarantee that I can find Senior Qingxin."

"No problem, no problem."

Li Changting grinned, "If I can't find anyone, I think it would be a good trip to travel with Xiang Xiaoyou."

Xiang Jianjue's eyes twitched slightly when he heard this. Shouldn't such corny words be said to women?

Could it be that Li Changting has something...

Thinking that something was wrong, Xiang Jianjue felt a chill in his heart and turned away without saying a word.

"Hey, Xiang, wait for me."

Li Changting had no idea what was going on and hurriedly chased after him, only to see Xiang Jianjue flying away with his sword in fear.

“Stay away from me!!”

“…”

In Shuicheng, it is July again.

The midday sun was extremely scorching, and there were few people walking on the streets of East City. The shops along the street were all idle and quiet. Only the sound of the bellows could still be heard from the Chen family blacksmith shop.

Not long after, a customer came to the door and yelled at the top of his lungs, "Boss, come out and do business!"

“Here I come!”

A clear and pleasant female voice came from the backyard, and then the sound of the bellows stopped. A girl in fire-washed clothes lifted the door curtain and walked out quickly.

The girl's face was blackened by the smoke, and her pair of black and white eyes looked particularly bright.

"Sir, what kind of weapon do you need? Our Chen family blacksmith shop has been passed down for three generations, and we specialize in making swords..."

The girl skillfully introduced the various instruments in the shop. After a while, the transaction was completed and the customer left with the wooden sword case, feeling satisfied.

After watching the guests leave, the girl was about to go back to the backyard to help, but she heard a rough male voice first.

"No need to come over, it's almost time, go change your clothes."

"I understand, Daddy."

The girl responded and hurried to the well in the backyard to wash off the black dust on her face, revealing a beautiful face with a bit of childishness.

This girl is none other than Fengfeng.

After washing her face, Fengfeng tidied her slightly messy hair again, and ran into the house in a hurry. A moment later, she came out wearing an apricot-yellow long skirt and holding a book box in her hand.

Neighbor Wang Widow was passing by the backyard with a clothes basket in her arms. She caught sight of Feng Feng and immediately frowned. She put down the clothes basket and hurried over, urging him:

"It's almost noon, why are you still at home? Hurry up and leave. If you're late, the teacher will scold you again."

Fengfeng stuck out her tongue and said, "I just want to help Daddy for a while longer."

"But that doesn't mean you won't learn to read and write."

Widow Wang couldn't help but curse, "Your father didn't even bother to hire a helper. He just worked on the iron all day. Did he ruin his brain?"

Fengfeng listened to the muttering and smiled with her eyes curved.

These words were harsh to her when she was a child, and she thought Aunt Wang was a bad person. Only when she grew up did she realize how good Aunt Wang was.

Widow Wang walked Fengfeng all the way to the door and muttered a few more words before letting go of Fengfeng's hand. She turned around and went straight into the blacksmith shop. Not long after, she heard a barrage of scolding.

Fengfeng was used to it. She put her book box on her back, turned her head to look at the closed door of the calligraphy studio opposite, and then ran away quickly.

It’s been three years, and I don’t know if Aunt Sheng will come back.

"Three whole years."

Luo Hai sat behind the wine shop counter, scratching out "July 9th" from the old almanac. Looking at Hei Hu, who was dozing off on the counter, he couldn't help but sigh, "Are you really not worried at all?"

"What are you worried about?"

Wang Tuo covered his mouth with his paw and yawned, then said slowly, "We agreed to come back in two years, but she added an extra year for no reason. I'm glad I didn't go after her."

Luo Hai was speechless, feeling deeply moved that the demon race had such big hearts.

"Shopkeeper, buy some wine."

“Here I come!”

Luo Hai stood up and looked up, but his eyes suddenly passed the guest who came in and fell on the woman in white passing by the door.

That back figure looks so familiar!

"Senior Tiger!"

Luo Hai shouted subconsciously, but when he looked down, he saw that the counter was empty and there was no sign of Wang Tuo.

At the same time, Xiang Sheng arrived in front of the Zifang gate. A black light flashed on his shoulder, and a little black tiger appeared.

"What took you so long?"

Wang Tuo tilted his head, his eyes filled with questioning, "Even if the resentment has increased slightly, it won't be more than half, right?"

"I was delayed."

Xiang Sheng replied casually and opened the door of the calligraphy studio which had been closed for three years. A musty smell immediately hit him in the face.

She looked up at the moldy spots all over the walls. The calligraphy and paintings hanging on the walls had become damp and rotten. As the wind blew in from outside, they fell to the ground with a plop.

Xiang Sheng's face darkened, "Brother, is this how you look after the house?"

Wang Tuo looked embarrassed and chuckled, "I forgot about it after drinking."

He waved his claws, stirring up a gust of wind, and the mildew on the wall immediately faded away at a speed visible to the naked eye, turning the wall into its original snow-white surface. The furniture covered with dust and cobwebs also looked brand new in an instant.

Then, a gust of evil wind blew, and all the moldy and rotten calligraphy and paintings on the ground turned into ashes, which were blown out of the sky along with the evil wind and disappeared.

Xiang Sheng walked into the house and waved his sleeve to draw in a ray of sunlight from outside, dispelling the last trace of dampness.

She sat down, took out a new stack of rice paper and spread it on the table. She was about to pick up the pen to write a few words and hang it up again, but Wang Tuo suddenly pressed the back of her hand.

Wang Tuo pointed to the spot where the black cat painting used to hang. "Look, sister Sheng, the painting is gone. How about you draw me another one?"

Xiang Sheng paused for a moment, then raised his eyebrows and chuckled softly, "I thought it was strange. With Big Brother's memory, no matter how much he drinks, he wouldn't have forgotten to look after the calligraphy workshop. It turns out he did it on purpose."
