Chapter 579 Collecting Corpses

A thousand years later, in the southern part of the star realm, at the battlefield of the Heavenly Demon Kingdom.

"Your Highness, this is the Heavenly Demon Kingdom."

At the bow of the Void Immortal Boat, an old man in a black robe leaned sideways, pointed downwards and spoke with an attentive look on his face.

Beside him was a young man wearing a jade crown and a white robe with gold thread. He had a handsome face, red lips and white teeth, and a hint of childishness between his eyebrows.

Following the old man's instructions, he looked down and saw hundreds of continents floating in the void. A look of surprise suddenly appeared in his black and white eyes:

“Isn’t the Heavenly Demon Country a cultivation planet?”

The old man chuckled upon hearing this, "Xiuzhen Star? That was before. Ever since the war began, the Heavenly Demon Kingdom has become a battlefield. The war has lasted for over three hundred years. The Heavenly Demon Kingdom was destroyed, and Xiuzhen Star was long since broken up.

After several lootings, this shattered continent has few lost treasures left. Only a few low-level demons and ancient tribes are still roaming around, and very few are stronger than Earth Immortals, making them perfect for Your Highness to train.

The young man listened and nodded repeatedly, his eyes constantly wandering over the continents below, with an eager look on his face.

Suddenly, his sight fixed on one of the continents.

In the blood-red battlefield, there was a white shadow walking alone.

The young man looked closely and immediately saw that it was a woman.

The woman was dressed in a white linen dress, with her hair in a simple bun, hastily tied up with a rattan rope. Her face was unmade up, and her temperament was as pure and beautiful as a mountain spring.

She dragged a tattered wooden coffin and slowly moved forward among the pile of rotting corpses, leaving a long trail behind her.

The young man had never seen such a wonderful sight before, and he couldn't help but take a few more glances.

The old man in black robe followed his gaze and saw the woman in white, and immediately spoke kindly about her background:

“Your Highness should know that this place is the land of the Celestial Demons, and there are quite a few human slaves.

After the celestial demons were exterminated, the descendants of the human slaves stayed on this shattered continent and reproduced.

The woman in white that Your Highness saw appeared on this battlefield over ninety years ago, collecting corpses for a living. Her cultivation was not high, and she was a wandering immortal who had only survived one calamity.

The young man heard the old man's hidden meaning and frowned. "One Tribulation Loose Immortal? Isn't that only equivalent to the early stage of Mahayana? She's not even a Human Immortal. How could she survive on the battlefield for nearly a hundred years?"

Seeing that the young man had grasped the key to the problem, the gray-robed old man showed a hint of praise in his eyes and said with a smile:

"When fighting on the battlefield, your strength is the foundation of everything.

But if you try to avoid it and don't compete with others for treasures, there will naturally be another way to survive.

This woman was weak, but her agility was good, and she was skilled in formations, making her quite formidable. Furthermore, she was poor and destitute, with no profit to be made, so no one wanted to waste the energy to provoke her.

So, Your Highness, do you understand?"

The young man suddenly realized, "So she is a kind person! Fifth Elder, please protect her secretly. It would be a pity if a woman like this died too early."

The old man in black robe was stunned when he heard this, and then he burst into laughter.

Your Highness is so innocent and cute.

"I will obey your highness's orders."

A moment later, the immortal boat roared and sped away.

Xiang Sheng looked up at the disappearing figure of the immortal boat, then continued to search among the pile of corpses with his head down.

Soon, she turned out a complete corpse.

The corpse's face still showed the fear before death, his limbs were soft, and the immortal spirit in his dantian had not completely dissipated. He must have been dead for less than three years.

After the inspection, Xiang Sheng carefully picked up the body, gently placed it in the open coffin, closed the coffin lid, and then tied the straw rope around his waist again, dragging it back step by step.

Three hours later, Xiang Sheng dragged the coffin to a slightly flat open space outside a small mortal town with some people.

In the open space, a dilapidated stone tower stood quietly.

The stone tower is low, with only two floors. The stone door on the first floor is tightly closed, and the words "Coffin Shop" are hung outside the door.

Sensing Xiang Sheng's presence, the stone door immediately opened on its own, revealing several coffins behind the door.

Xiang Sheng had a calm expression as he walked in with a dragging gaze.

This stone tower was, of course, the inheritance tower left after the destruction of the Origin. Without the support of the Origin, the first floor of the stone tower no longer possessed the power of Mount Sumeru and mustard seeds it once possessed. The space was pitifully cramped, only able to accommodate eight coffins at most.

Xiang Sheng untied the straw rope around his waist and put the coffin at the innermost part into an ordinary storage ring.

After a round of arrangement, the coffin area closest to the gate was cleared.

Xiang Sheng returned to the door and gently pulled the straw rope. The dark coffin immediately flew up and landed precisely on the vacant space.

Rumble——

The stone door closed, and the stone tower fell into darkness, with only a few candles flickering on the coffin.

In the flickering light, Xiang Sheng removed the straw rope from the wooden coffin and threw it aside, opened the coffin lid, then set up an incense table in front of the coffin, lit the incense sticks, and worshiped devoutly.

When the incense stick burned out, Xiang Sheng stopped worshipping, walked to the side of the coffin, and reached out to touch the corpse's eyebrows.

suddenly!

A wisp of deathly energy mixed with life emerged from the corpse's brow and flew into the jade bottle in Xiang Sheng's left palm.

After doing this, the piety in Xiang Sheng's eyes instantly faded.

She put away the jade bottle, waved her sleeve to close the coffin lid, and quickly went to the second floor.

The thousands of white jade cushions that originally sat on the second floor of the pagoda had long since disappeared, replaced by a quiet living room.

The interior furnishings are simple, with no bed, only an incense table.

There were two wooden tablets on the incense table, the incense sticks were at the bottom but not broken, and the smoke was curling into threads.

In the open space in front of the incense table, there is a straw cushion, facing the two tablets.

If you sit on it, you can see the words on the tablet by just looking up.

Xiang Sheng walked to the incense table, lit another stick of incense and inserted it, then walked behind the screen, took off his bloodstained white linen clothes and burned them, changed into a green dress and went downstairs. A middle-aged man and a young woman were already waiting at the door of the shop.

The woman was dressed in goose yellow and was talking to the man in a low voice, as if trying to comfort him.

The woman immediately stopped talking when she saw Xiang Sheng coming down the stairs. She walked over to the stone steps in a few steps and greeted him familiarly:

"Boss Shi, you just got back, right? I came here an incense stick ago, and the shop is still closed. I brought people with me this time."

Xiang Sheng nodded slightly without saying anything.

The middle-aged man looked at it and immediately frowned. The coffin shop owner was so rude.

The woman seemed accustomed to Xiang Sheng's indifference and remained unaffected. She continued, "The man I brought is Lu Liuhai, the sixth child in his family. The first five were all possessed by the celestial demon and died on the battlefield a hundred years ago. No trace of their remains has ever been found."

Xiang Sheng walked to the table and sat down. Upon hearing this, he said indifferently, "Miss Yu Ying, you know my rules. I don't collect old corpses."

The middle-aged man immediately showed annoyance when he heard this, but seeing Yu Ying's anxious look, he finally suppressed his anger and remained silent.

Yu Ying immediately breathed a sigh of relief: "Of course I understand Boss Shi's rules. I didn't come here for those five people, but for Brother Chen's youngest brother."
