Chapter 6 Speculation

Qin Ji brought Xiang Sheng to the backyard and stopped in front of a quiet room with a stone door.

Qin Ji went up and rang the bell hanging in front of the door. Not long after, the stone door opened with a bang, and a young man in a blue robe with a cold face walked out.

Seeing that it was Qin Ji, the coldness on the young man's face faded a little. After seeing Xiang Sheng beside Qin Ji, the young man was stunned for a moment, and then a gentle smile appeared on his face: "Sheng'er."

There is no need to say much about this person, it is Xiang Hongyu.

"Ren'er has met brother."

Xiang Sheng hurriedly greeted him, but Xiang Hongyu grabbed her hand and walked towards the front yard. "Don't be so distant. I'm your brother. Qinji, go prepare the best refreshments and bring them to the front yard."

Qin Ji pressed the button with a hint of resentment and left.

Xiang Sheng was dragged along the way, his wrist almost broken, and he had to warn him, "Brother, you're walking too fast."

Xiang Hongyu finally reacted, slowed down his pace, and laughed, "Brother is a rough man, I apologize to you. I remember when you were a child, you envied the food of those legitimate sons and daughters. The food here is better than at home."

The two sat down in the front hall, and the kitchen soon brought a table of exquisite pastries. Xiang Hongyu was busy introducing this and that, with an unprecedented attentiveness on his face.

Qin Ji, who was standing aside, felt even more jealous. When had she ever seen such a young man?

After the pastries came the meals, and the order of serving was reversed. Xiang Sheng felt a little full after taking two bites of the rice.

Xiang Hongyu saw her put down her chopsticks and put down his bowl as well, saying, "You must be tired after all this travel. The rooms in the East Courtyard have been cleaned up a long time ago. Go and have a good rest. We can talk about other things after you wake up. Qinji."

Qin Ji immediately stepped forward and said, "Miss Sheng, please come this way."

Xiang Sheng had been cooperating with the acting and was already exhausted, so he naturally went along with it and stood up to salute.

"Thank you for your understanding, brother. I'll take my leave."

As Xiang Sheng left, the smile on Xiang Hongyu's face faded in the blink of an eye.

He raised his hand and the servant standing by immediately understood. He came up and quickly cleared the dishes and cleared the table.

Soon, the piano came back.

Seeing that the young master had regained his stern expression and the table was clean, she felt better for some reason. She stepped forward and said solemnly, "Young master, I have something important to report."

"Is it related to you bringing back one more person?"

Xiang Hongyu wiped the grease from his fingers without looking up. "Tell me about it."

Qin Ji immediately told all the strange things that happened in the village.

Xiang Hongyu stopped what he was doing halfway through listening, and his casual expression turned serious. When Qinji finished speaking, he nodded slightly and said:

"This kind of thing rarely happens in Dongzhou. You're unlucky to have encountered it. Not to mention me, even a true disciple of the sect would be in danger of death if they encountered it. That kid is lucky to have survived, so I'll keep him under your command."

Qinji then realized how big a disaster he had escaped. He was so scared that he kept saying yes.

"Why did you stay at Xiang's house for so many days?"

Xiang Hongyu continued to ask.

Qin Ji did not dare to hide anything and told Xiang Sheng the whole story of his stay at home.

The more Xiang Hongyu listened, the gloomier his expression became. "You mean... Xiang Wenli asked Xiang Sheng to come here?"

Qin Ji was confused and nodded, saying, "If not, how could Miss Sheng compete with Miss Wanwan? Sir, you asked me to spread the news in the Xiang family in advance, wasn't it to test Miss Sheng? But in my opinion, Miss Sheng is really not up to the task..."

"alright."

Xiang Hongyu stood up and waved his sleeves. "I'm going to go out for a while. You stay in the East Courtyard to watch over Xiang Sheng. When she wakes up, take her to familiarize herself with the sect and teach her the rules. Don't cause any trouble for me."

"I understand."

Qin Ji bowed his head and when he looked up again, Xiang Hongyu was gone.

The moment she saw Xiang Sheng, she could tell that the young master was genuinely happy, but as soon as Xiang Sheng left, the young master had the table cleared and his expression did not look very good.

But at that time, the young master clearly didn't know how Xiang Sheng behaved at home, so why was he unhappy?

The young master was an inner sect disciple, so if he didn't like Xiang Sheng, he wouldn't have to pretend. But if he did say he liked her, his words didn't seem to indicate it, and he even arranged her in the East Courtyard, farthest from the main courtyard.

What on earth are you thinking, sir?

Qinji frowned in annoyance. This feeling of being unable to see or guess what was happening was truly unsettling.

The east courtyard is spacious, and the servants have cleaned it spotlessly inside and out. The flowers and plants are neatly trimmed, which is pleasing to the eye.

Xiang Sheng had no time to appreciate it. He walked straight into the room, took off his shoes and got into bed.

Seeing this, the maids who followed went out and closed the door considerately.

Only when he could no longer hear the footsteps did Xiang Sheng emerge from the quilt and reach out to take a closer look.

The life-control mark flickered and was almost invisible.

On the way back from the village, the three of them squeezed into a carriage. Xiang Sheng was afraid of being discovered, so he didn't practice the secret technique much.

But even so, the marks have naturally been integrated over time, and only one final push is needed to completely get started.

With this in mind, she no longer delayed and quickly entered the state of cultivation...

After an unknown amount of time, Xiang Sheng woke up from his meditation. Before he could check his progress in cultivation, he was almost fainted by the foul smell.

"What's that smell? Ugh..."

Xiang Sheng jumped out from under the quilt, pinching his nose, and the stench immediately spread, filling the entire room.

Xiang Sheng was stunned for a moment, raised his hand and smelled himself, then immediately continued to pinch his nose to stop the urge to vomit, and opened the rear window for ventilation.

The person in the dream seemed to have mentioned that after mastering the secret method, the body would expel impurities, but she had forgotten about this and did not expect it to be so smelly.
