In the misty fog, a village with only a dozen households appeared before everyone.
The village paths are interconnected, the weeds on the roadside are half a person tall, and the walls of the low earthen houses are bumpy and mottled, as if no one has lived there for a long time.
"How can there be a village in the Ghost Gorge?"
Wei Leyan asked in confusion, "Has Senior Brother Dong ever encountered this before?"
Dong Jinghuan shook his head slightly, "This place is strange, be careful."
Wei Leyan glanced at Wan Lingmo next to him and sighed, "It's a pity that someone's eyesight is damaged, otherwise they would have spotted the flaws here at a glance and wouldn't have wasted time here."
Wan Lingmo sneered, "If that were the case, Senior Brother Du and I would have left long ago. Why would we stay here and waste our time with you?"
"Say less."
Du Yuan frowned to stop the two people's verbal argument, took out a piece of silver foil, casually drew a rune, and threw it towards the path ahead.
The silver foil turned into fire and fell to the ground, very quietly.
Du Yuan's brows relaxed as he said, "There are no ghosts or demons within ten feet ahead, but the soul-searching talisman is clearly suppressed here and is not very effective. It's hard to say what will happen after we enter the village."
Dong Jinghuan looked at the endless wasteland of wild grass, paused slightly at Xiang Sheng, turned around and said in a deep voice: "There is no way out. This wasteland feels more dangerous to me than the village. Let's go into the village."
"Brother Du, since you said there's no danger ahead, why don't you go first?"
Wei Leyan suddenly spoke and looked at Du Yuan with a smile.
Du Yuan chuckled, "I'm somewhat adept at the art of talismans, but my strength isn't as good as yours. Junior Brother Dong and Junior Brother Wei are both low-key individuals, so their hidden strengths shouldn't be underestimated. Why not show them off here?"
Wei Leyan's smile faded slightly, "Brother Du, you are too kind. My brother is truly amazing. My humble cultivation is not worth mentioning."
Wan Lingmo listened to the two people arguing, just smiled coldly and said nothing.
"Stop arguing!"
Dong Jinghuan's face was solemn. "The Dongzhou competition hasn't even started yet. Do you want to die here together?"
After these words were spoken, Wei Leyan and Du Yuan fell silent, but no one took the initiative to step forward to explore the way.
Dong Jinghuan's eyes flashed, and he suddenly turned his head to look at Xiang Wenli and said, "Master Xiang, it's appropriate for you to do this."
Xiang Wenli was stunned for a moment, then asked in confusion, "What does Dong Zhen Chuan mean by this?"
“If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it yourself.”
Dong Jinghuan's eyes flashed with a hint of coldness. "Master Xiang, it would be better if I didn't speak out, lest I arouse public outrage."
Xiang Wenli's face changed slightly. The matter of the Soul Sound Grass was exposed?!
But Dong Jinghuan had only been in Xiangcheng for half a day and had never been to Xuanwang City. How could he see through him?
"Master Xiang, since you have a solution, use it quickly!"
Wei Leyan's face was filled with impatience. "What are you dithering about?"
Du Yuan and Wan Lingmo also cast aggressive glances over.
Xiang Wenli secretly hated himself for not being able to summon a servant. He ordered in a strange voice, "You, go ahead and scout the way!"
The worshipper showed no fear at all when he heard this. Instead, he looked fanatical and rushed into the path without saying a word.
The path was exactly ten feet long, and the offering was safe and sound as he walked along it, arriving safely at the village entrance.
Seeing this, everyone felt relieved and followed suit.
At the same time, Du Yuan and Wei Leyan both looked at Xiang Wenli deeply, and their vigilance increased greatly.
When entering the village next, Du Yuan was too lazy to use the art of talismans, so he directly asked Xiang Wenli to send people into the village to test it out.
Three or five of the offerings walked around the village and all returned safely.
"No one was killed or injured. It seems this place is safe for the time being."
Dong Jinghuan's expression eased slightly. "Master Xiang, please arrange for everyone to settle down in the village hall, and then come back to discuss how to escape."
"Leave this matter to me, old servant."
Butler Fu bowed respectfully, then went to the village hall first, took out a rack and placed it on the ground, and after a few movements he started a fire.
The cold air in Ghost Gorge was so strong that it was not easy for the monks to resist it. But now that there was a fire, they couldn't help but move closer.
Xiang Hongyu also wanted to go over, but he pulled Xiang Sheng over and couldn't move him. His face immediately darkened: "Sheng'er, be obedient and come with me to keep warm."
"I'm not going!"
Xiang Sheng's face was filled with fear, his voice trembling, "I'm not going over there. I'm staying here at Dong Zhen Chuan and not going anywhere!"
“Nonsense!”
Xiang Hongyu's face turned cold. "If you continue to be so willful, I will just leave you here and ignore you."
Xiang Sheng bit his lower lip and stopped talking, but his body did not move at all.
Seeing Du Yuan and the others looking at him, Xiang Hongyu's scalp tingled slightly. He was about to forcefully lead Xiang Sheng to him when Dong Zhenchuan suddenly said, "Since Junior Sister Xiang wants to stay here, then stay. Junior Brother Xiang, why are you forcing her?"
Xiang Hongyu's expression changed slightly, "Senior Brother Dong, Sheng'er is my attendant."
"How dare you bring a mere attendant, a mere mortal, here?"
Wei Leyan suddenly interrupted, looked Xiang Sheng up and down, and immediately understood something. There was a hint of disgust in his eyes when he looked at Hongyu.
Du Yuan smiled and said, "I never thought that the Blazing Flame Sect, with its thousand-year-old foundation, would fall into such a state of disgrace. In order to improve their cultivation, they even resorted to despicable methods."
Dong Zhenchuan's face darkened slightly. "When will it be Brother Du's turn to take charge of our Blazing Flame Sect's internal affairs?"
Wan Lingmo sneered and said nothing.
Du Yuan glanced at his junior brother and frowned slightly.
Regarding the Xuanwang City incident, he spoke much less and his temper seemed to have become much worse. I'm afraid he was haunted by inner demons.
Unfortunately, there is no trace of the evil woman Lu, and there is no hope of resolving this inner demon in the short term.
Xiang Hongyu stayed where he was, feeling extremely embarrassed.
