The spring rain drizzled incessantly. Shengjing, which had suffered from drought for many years, was relieved by the rain, and the people of Shengjing held a grand ceremony.

Jiannan stood outside the door holding an oil-paper umbrella. Gu Youan looked up and glanced at him. This was their tacit understanding: whenever they received a mission, they would go out for a spring outing and scout the location.

Gu Youan smiled slightly and said, "I want to kill Emperor Huaming. Are you willing to help me?"

Jiannan nodded. Emperor Huaming had already made a move against the Emperor's Ship, so she had no choice but to resist.

“They have already given their lives for the Emperor, now it’s our turn,” Jiannan said.

She walked out in the fine rain, with Jiannan holding an umbrella for her. Gu Youan looked up at him. Emperor Huaming was surrounded by experts, making the assassination extremely difficult. They had become trapped beasts. If they didn't act now, it would be too late after the birth.

She stroked her belly, wondering if this child would be her last protection. Gu Youan paused, her eyes filled with endless sorrow.

Jiannan turned his head away. Xie Daoqing was standing not far away watching them. Jiannan smiled and said, "I'll wait for you outside."

Gu Youan looked into the distance, and Xie Daoqing looked at her without saying a word. She walked forward slowly, holding an oil-paper umbrella.

Xie Daoqing looked her over carefully and smiled, "I have never seen you look like this before."

These clothes have been specially treated. On the surface, they look no different from ordinary clothes, but in reality, they contain a hidden secret.

"This is my last mission. I'm going to kill Emperor Huaming. Please help me keep it a secret from Xiao Junqi."

Xiao Junqi was Emperor Huaming's only son. Regardless of their relationship, patricide is a crime that will be condemned for all time.

Xie Daoqing nodded and said, "Take care!"

He was powerless to dissuade him. The Battle of Songzhulin had caused heavy losses to the Emperor's fleet. Why should Gu Youan take such a risk today?

She took his hand and touched her belly, saying, "This is your child. If I die, you will take him back and raise him."

A strange feeling spread throughout her body; she was carrying two children.

Xie Daoqing's eyes flickered as he said, "I'll wait for you to come back."

"Okay." She put away the oil-paper umbrella and said, "This umbrella can protect you in a critical moment."

Xie Daoqing shook his head and said, "Keep this umbrella."

“You killed my fellow disciples, so I should kill you. But the Emperor’s Seat is in grave danger, and it will need the Xie family to rebuild it in the future.”

Xie Daoqing said, "Alright, I promise you, I will leave here alive."

He looked up at the sky; after tonight, the sky over Shengjing would change.

Whether the assassination tonight succeeds or not, Shengjing will be in chaos, but the members of the Emperor's Ship will be able to leave the city safely. They are all ordinary people, and they are desperately trying to become the best assassins just to survive. Whether they succeed or not, everyone will be alive after tonight.

Gu Youan closed her eyes, and Xie Daoqing held her hand and whispered, "Be careful in everything."

Xie Daoqing had no right to help her, nor could she help her.

He stood at a distance watching her departing figure, sighed, then turned and left, his gaze intense.

"Miss!"

Gu Youan smiled and said, "Let's break through with them and get out of here."

She grasped Jiannan's arm and said, "Let's leave here."

Jiannan nodded, a wave of familiarity washing over him. He smiled and said, "It's been so many years since we've worked together. I'm really looking forward to this mission."

Shengjing was decorated with lanterns and colorful decorations, and the city was bustling with activity. They stood under the city wall, looking up at the city tower. Gu Youan said, "Tonight, Emperor Huaming will be there to receive the blessings of the people. We must strike decisively."

There was a pillar diagonally opposite, just big enough for a person to stand on. Gu Youan and Jiannan exchanged a glance, and they both understood what the other was thinking.

"I have faith in your swordsmanship."

Jiannan laughed and said, "Please believe me, Xuanji, whether we succeed tonight depends on that one sword."

This rain is a boon to the people of Sheng Kingdom, and also the last chance for the Emperor.

The Emperor helped the Sheng Kingdom defeat the Dayong Kingdom, but was eliminated after the Ye family was destroyed. Gu Youan looked up, rain falling on her face, and she reached out to wipe the raindrops off her face.

She smiled and said, "We never do anything without being sure of success, but tonight's assassination is a near-certain death mission. Jiannan, this is our last operation."

Jiannan smiled and said, "Let me take you to buy candied hawthorns."

Her eyes flickered slightly, a light flashing within them, while the red lanterns on the city wall swayed gently.

Jiannan tugged at her hand and smiled, "What's wrong today, Xuanji? Don't worry, you'll survive."

Gu Youan slowly closed her eyes and gently leaned against her. Her breathing gradually calmed down, and Xie Daoqing caught her steadily from behind.

Jiannan gave him a deep look and said, "I'm entrusting her to you. Take good care of her."

Xie Daoqing nodded, while Ye Qingchen, holding an oil-paper umbrella, stood to the side and asked, "Will this sleeping potion have any side effects on her?"

Jiannan shook his head and said, "Don't worry, she'll only be unconscious for a day and a night. She'll wake up tomorrow."

He gently wiped the water off Gu Youan's face and said, "I'm entrusting Miss to you."

Gu Youan wanted to kill Emperor Huaming. If Emperor Huaming died, no one would survive.

Jiannan smiled and said, "She is the most outstanding person in our class. I don't want her to get hurt in any way. Only if she survives will our sacrifice be worthwhile."

Xie Daoqing tightened his grip, lowered his eyes, and said, "Don't worry."

Ye Qingchen and Jiannan exchanged a glance; they had already read the meaning in each other's eyes.

Xie Daoqing smiled and said, "Go ahead, I'll be waiting for your good news."

A carriage slowly approached, and a pair of jade-like hands reached out. Jian Nan looked over, and Xiao Junqi lifted the curtain and looked at him, saying, "Get in the carriage."

He grabbed Xie Daoqing's hand and said, "You go first."

Before he finished speaking, Xiao Junqi carried Gu Youan onto the carriage.

Xiao Junqi said, "Patriarch Xie, does Patriarch Xie also intend to meddle in the internal affairs of our Sheng Kingdom?"

Xie Daoqing turned his head and said, "Wherever she is, that's where I will be."

Xiao Junqi smiled and said, "Who is she to you? She is my queen. Patriarch Xie, have you forgotten that you and she are worlds apart?"

Xie Daoqing said, "But she is carrying my child."

Xiao Junqi said calmly, "She's carrying my child."

Xiao Junqi turned his head and said, "So what? If I ascend the throne, she will be my empress, the empress of Sheng Kingdom. Isn't that better than your title as a lady of the Xie family? The first child will be yours, and I will have many more children with her in the future."

Xiao Junqi looked down on Xie Daoqing, a grown man who was willing to die for a woman.

Xiao Junqi said, "Patriarch Xie, do you intend to become Gu Youan's lover?"

Xie Daoqing smiled and said, "It's not impossible."

Xiao Junqi had no feelings for Xie Daoqing, but he could use Gu Youan to provoke Xie Daoqing, while he could not stop Sheng Jingche's plan.

Xie Daoqing gently stroked Gu Youan's face, but Xiao Junqi stopped him. Xie Daoqing smiled and said, "Take good care of her."

He leaped out of the carriage, and Xiao Junqi grinned and said, "As expected of the Xie family patriarch."

His hand tightened, his gaze fell on Gu Youan's face, and he smiled, "So many men have risked their lives for you, you're really amazing."

Jiannan treated her like a close friend, and Sheng Jingche was also influenced by him. He looked down at her abdomen, a hint of emotion in his eyes.

The drizzle continued, and the entire capital was shrouded in mist. Xie Daoqing looked up at the mountains outside the city, where layers of mountains appeared and disappeared in the distance.

He frowned. Could the assassination succeed in this weather?

The city was bustling with celebrations of a bountiful harvest, and every household had tied red ribbons to their doors.

As night fell, Xiao Junqi led his maid, disguised as Gu Youan, onto the city wall, dazzling and radiant.

Xiao Junqi glanced at Jiannan in the distance, his eyes filled with complex emotions. "Gu Youan" reached out and tugged at her sleeve. He patted her hand.

Emperor Huaming turned to look at them and smiled, "It rained this year, and your wife will soon give birth. This is a good omen."

Xiao Junqi nodded, a cold glint flashed, and an arrow flew over with a "whoosh". Xiao Junqi suddenly pushed Emperor Huaming aside. The city gate was on fire and the people were fleeing in all directions. He helped Emperor Huaming up and said, "Father, let's go back to the palace. I will handle it."

Emperor Huaming was still in shock, and his eyes were filled with fierce determination as he looked at Xiao Junqi. He pressed Xiao Junqi's hand and said, "Find the assassin and kill him."

Xiao Junqi nodded, then turned to look at "Gu Youan" and said, "You should go back to the Prince's Mansion first."

The Imperial Guards were recalled to the capital, and Ye Qingchen took advantage of the chaos to escape with everyone.

The firelight illuminated their faces, and the flames devoured everything. Xiao Junqi and Jiannan exchanged a glance.

Jiannan's eyelashes trembled, and Xiao Junqi shook his head slightly.

Jiannan withdrew the arrow and strolled away.

In the midst of a chaotic night, with everyone rushing about, Xiao Junqi knelt before Emperor Huaming's bedside.

"evil creature!"

"Please calm down, Father."

Emperor Hua Ming gripped the cup and smashed it hard against Xiao Junqi's forehead, saying, "You've all been bewitched by that woman, and you've actually done such a rebellious thing."

"Father!" Jiannan knelt down and kowtowed.

Emperor Huaming pointed at him and said, "Once she gives birth to the child, you should divorce her."

"Yes!" Xiao Junqi replied in a low voice.

An aged voice came, and Emperor Huaming spoke haltingly: "I knew you were audacious, but I did not know you would be so bold."

"Now that she has your child, you need to find a way to win a woman's heart, instead of letting her act recklessly."

"This world is yours to begin with, so do not let your personal feelings get in the way."

Gu Youan is from another world, and only by capturing her can the world be unified. Emperor Huaming has lived most of his life and naturally knows the tricks of the younger generation. No matter who the child's biological father is, he is still Gu Youan's biological child. A woman has something to care about when she has a child.

Xiao Junqi offered Gu Youan the position of Empress, which would make her second only to the Emperor after he ascended the throne. It was an irresistible temptation for her.

Emperor Huaming turned to look at him and said, "So be it. These are your own choices. Qi'er, it is not a good thing for a woman to have an army under her command."

Xiao Junqi knelt down and kowtowed, saying, "I understand, Father."
