Yandere is contagious
When he opened his eyes, the sunlight streaming in through the window was so bright that he instinctively closed them again, shielding his eyes with his hand. After a while, he finally opened them completely.
Taking a deep breath, Shen Xiuyan sat up straight and turned to look at the clock on the cabinet next to him.
June 10th, 7:00 AM.
He turned around, raised his hand to observe for a while, and suddenly laughed.
It's that day again.
He still fell asleep.
He raised his hand to rub his messy hair, then got out of bed, walked to the French windows, pulled back the half-closed curtains, and looked down at the garden.
He was just casually looking around when he unexpectedly saw someone.
Shen Xiuyan turned his head slightly, seemingly unable to comprehend the scene before him, then suddenly came to his senses, turned around and ran downstairs.
Yan Kui dragged her light suitcase and fled towards the gate. As she approached the gate, her hands were still trembling as she searched for the lock.
She was a little anxious, but the more anxious a person is, the more likely they are to make mistakes. She tried to open this simple lock three times but failed.
Fortunately, the door finally opened on the fourth try. Yan Kui was overjoyed and was about to pull it open when a laughing voice sounded behind her, making her freeze instantly and stop moving.
"Aoi, where are you going?"
Yan Kui turned to look at him instantly. Perhaps he had run too fast, because the boy was still a little out of breath as he spoke, but he still had a smile on his face.
Despite panting like a dog, Yan Kui still pretended to be out of breath. She gritted her teeth inwardly while casually replying, "I went on a trip with my classmates. My mom knows."
Does Mom know?
These four words gave Shen Xiuyan a lot of information. He looked at Yan Kui, whose expression was solemn, and said in a deep voice, "Then you can leave."
Huh? Yan Kui, who was about to pull the door open and run away, froze. Although she was puzzled, she still stepped out of the door on her own.
After all, if she didn't keep an eye on this nominal brother in front of her, she might die right here.
She hurriedly packed her things to leave in order to avoid him, but to her surprise, he didn't stop her this time.
Yan Kui closed the door and exchanged a glance with Shen Xiuyan. In that instant, both of them harbored their own secrets.
As Shen Xiuyan watched her get into the car that had come to pick her up, his warm expression vanished, and he turned and went back to his room.
Things are different now.
Things should be different now.
Yan Kui fiddled with the strap of her backpack, sorting through the familiar yet eerie memories in her mind.
Those were all her memories, memories as ordinary as eating boiled pork slices last night. If she hadn't died twice in these memories, she would have suspected that she had gone crazy after the college entrance exam.
She died the first time and was reborn. In her second life, she didn't remember what happened in her first life, so she died again. When she opened her eyes again, she was in her current third life, and she had all the memories of her previous two lives.
As Yan Kui tried to accept the reality that she might have gone mad, she cursed the insane setting, saying it was as troublesome as a newly released game character skill.
If one is to be reborn, why must memories be selectively inherited?
Putting all that nonsense aside, now that she has the memories, she cannot tolerate dying again.
Her memory of her death was somewhat hazy; she only remembered that she seemed to have committed suicide, and the last person she came into contact with before she died was Shen Xiuyan.
Suicide? Because of him?
Before those events before her death, Yan Kui might have had doubts about this, but if she had actually experienced such a series of events, it's hard to say.
Since she couldn't figure it out herself, everything would be resolved. By avoiding the main characters at the center of those events and drawing on her experiences from two lifetimes, she would definitely be able to live a good life.
After all, she's different now.
"What a huge flag!"
The little boy suddenly jumped up from the sofa, holding up his Godzilla figurine, and pointed at the main character on TV, saying to Chen Xiuyan, "Brother, look at him! He shouldn't talk so much before fighting monsters!"
Shen Xiuyan was flipping through a picture book when he heard this. He glanced at him with amusement and said, "Judging from your tone, it sounds like you're just waiting for the monster to knock him down?"
The little boy nodded, then solemnly raised the little monster in his hand. "My uncle said that if you can't beat the enemy, you should join him!"
Uncle… Shen Xiuyan nodded as he reached out a hand, snatched the monster the boy was holding high, and then chuckled wickedly, “But Ultraman will eventually defeat the monster.”
The boy jumped around trying to get his monster back, and innocently replied, "Then let's become friends with Ultraman again!"
Shen Xiuyan couldn't help but laugh out loud, "You've already learned how to survive at such a young age, you have a bright future. This Godzilla is for you."
"Really! Thank you, brother! You can just call me Xuanxuan!" The little boy's eyes were bright, and he even smiled when he said thank you, looking extremely happy.
Even though he was happy, his mother had taught him that he shouldn't take other people's things without permission, especially toys given to him by the older siblings who lived in the house; he should always ask them first.
The child's thoughts were written all over his face. Shen Xiuyan understood, gestured for the boy to come closer, and then said the prepared words to him.
"If you do me a favor, consider this toy a gift in return. It's not a gift, and you don't need to tell your mom about it."
The clever child was quickly convinced and nodded repeatedly.
Shen Xiuyan patted his head symbolically, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, "Tell me secretly..."
After hearing his question, the little boy leaned close to his ear as if to show off, and whispered something in his ear, mimicking his manner.
Upon hearing this answer, Shen Xiuyan confirmed his guess.
"Xuanxuan, you naughty child, don't bother your brother." Aunt Zhou put the last plate on the table and apologized to Shen Xiuyan, "I'm sorry, Xiao Shen, I have to take him to school today, I really can't find the time."
The National College Entrance Examination (Gaokao) kicks off in June, while other students are basically still on holiday.
Shen Xiuyan put the album away and said calmly, "It's alright, Aunt Zhou, it won't take up any time."
Aunt Zhou thanked her and hurriedly took Xuanxuan to school.
Shen Xiuyan stood by the dining table, picked up a fork, pierced a cherry tomato, then thought carefully for a moment before making a phone call to Qin Yuan.
"Another call. Don't you think your boyfriend is like a parent taking their child to kindergarten?" Yan Kui propped her chin up as she watched Yang Tao make the call. She had also gone on a graduation trip in her previous life, but she had never seen them so affectionate.
"If you hadn't rushed me abroad, what could I have done? He woke up and couldn't even find me. Of course he was worried!" Yang Tao said, ignoring the fact that the phone was still ringing. "Baby, don't be angry... Oh, I'm such a sucker, having to appease both sides."
Yan Kui sighed and rolled her eyes, watching others' sweet romance unfold.
Well, a romantic relationship is out of the question.
The thought of it gives her a headache. If it weren't for the passionate love she experienced in her previous two lives, she might not have ended up like this.
The romantic relationship she once longed for turned into a blow that left her utterly humiliated. She used to criticize the love-struck girls in TV dramas, only to find herself so love-struck that she died twice.
However, if she had to give a reason, Yan Kui could still find one. Looking back on her middle school life, it could be divided into two main things: studying and avoiding Shen Xiuyan.
Studying can easily disconnect a person from society, and on top of that, having to hide from a crazy person who might do something mad at any time, after being suppressed for a long time, she would naturally want to do something relaxing and free.
Xie Chi appeared around that time.
In her first life, she made more thorough preparations for her travel plans, so she went to the more remote Nordic countries with her friends. On the first day, she had an accident and got separated from her friends in a somewhat remote place. Her phone and bag were all gone, and to make matters worse, none of the locals she met spoke English. She had never been independent before, and she was so anxious that she started to imagine the expressions of her family members when they came to her funeral after she died. In the end, the more she thought about it, the more she broke down and sat on the ground crying helplessly.
People feel ashamed when they recall the stupid things they've done. Whenever Yan Kui thinks of that scene, she wants to pull up her past self and slap her.
But someone did pull her up, though they didn't slap her; instead, they carefully wiped her tear-stained face clean with a handkerchief.
She stared blankly at Xie Chi, who was patiently wiping away her tears, and wondered how there could be such a good person in the world.
In a foreign land, facing difficulties, a refined and gentle surgeon suddenly entered the heart of a young girl—these are the words Yan Kui once wrote in a picture book. Thinking about it now, it evokes a bittersweet feeling, like an old man on the subway looking at his phone.
Why was she being so dramatic? She probably just liked Xie Chi's face back then! An ordinary middle-aged person might have stopped at "Thank you, Uncle!"
Fortunately, Shen Xiuyan appeared out of nowhere in the second life, throwing her a pack of tissues and telling her not to sit there and embarrass herself, thus avoiding the cliché but effective plot of the hero saving the beauty. In the end, she didn't fall so deeply into the unbearable situation.
When Shen Xiuyan appeared in his second life, Yan Kui didn't think much of it, only feeling unlucky. But when she looked at the third life, the change at this point clearly revealed one thing—Shen Xiuyan was very likely reborn in his second life as well, with his previous memories.
So in this life... Yan Kui's brain, which had just taken the college entrance exam, was working at high speed. Given that he had the memories of the first life in the second life, he had four possible memories for the third life—forgetting everything, remembering everything, or remembering one of the two.
Yan Kui didn't want to admit that she actually wanted to know what Shen Xiuyan's current situation was, but if she didn't know the answer, she would feel like she had done a question but hadn't gotten the answer right.
"Little Sunflower? What are you thinking about..." Yang Tao waved her hand in front of her eyes, "It's time to board, get ready!"
Yan Kui stood up as she did so, and Yang Tao chattered in her ear, "Xiao Kui, you really should come to the bathroom with me. You have no idea what a charming older man I just saw, so handsome..."
These words startled Yan Kui, who immediately turned to look at her.
That can't be right! She's already changed "Nordic" to "Japan"!
Yang Tao thought she was interested and laughed, "Although he's definitely not as good-looking as your brother, your brother is really too handsome."
“He’s not my brother.” Yan Kui’s attention was instantly diverted, and she said with a hint of mockery, “Do we look like siblings to you?”
Yang Tao probably knew about her family situation, so she didn't feel comfortable making a judgment and could only smile and say, "He's still very good to you."
After saying that, neither of them said anything more.
Yang Tao is repenting, and Yan Kui is cursing.
Be good to her? Good my ass!
Shen Xiuyan is a liar!
