Chapter 1657 Don’t Want to Let Go
Unable to reach the next city before nightfall, Lian Tang had no choice but to park the carriage in the woods outside the city.
Behind them was the woman in red who had been following them from a distance.
Lian Tang glanced over there, then turned his head and whispered to the curtain inside the carriage,
"Sir, those people have been following us for a long time. Do you need to find out where they came from?"
"No need."
After a pause, Li Chi's cold voice came.
Lian Tang said "Oh" and said after a moment,
"Sir, you haven't had your medicine all day. I'll go light a fire and make you a bowl."
As soon as he finished speaking, Lian Tang jumped off the carriage to collect firewood to make a fire.
Xia Fuyi was leaning against the edge and yawning when the curtain beside her was suddenly lifted.
Her half-open mouth was forced shut, and Xia Fuyi turned around to face the man's... mask sticking out of the car.
It was right in front of her eyes, so close that she could see the luxurious yet low-key patterns carved on the edge of the silver mask, as well as the clear and deep eyes behind the mask.
Not far away, the red-dressed woman's guards had already lit a fire for her.
The fire reflected in the man's eyes from afar, swaying into a warm and clear color, but when contrasted with the cold mask, it showed a strange sense of contradiction... It looked very charming.
At least Xia Fuyi was staring at it intently.
Until Li Chi laughed softly,
"Miss Fuyi, I'm getting off the bus."
A faint and cool breath brushed against her ears, and Xia Fuyi woke up immediately.
She turned her face to cover her ears which were turning red rapidly, and jumped out of the car almost in embarrassment to make way for Li Chi.
The man got out of the carriage and was about to get out when Xia Fuyi suddenly stepped forward and extended her hand. He was slightly startled.
Lian Tang always helped her get off the carriage before, so did she always think that she had to have someone’s help before she could get off?
The long eyebrows under the mask raised slightly, but Li Chi did not say much. He just had an inexplicable faint curve at the corner of his lips and reached out to place his hand on the girl's palm.
The hand was a little smaller than his, with white and slender fingers. It was clearly the hand of a lady from a noble family, but the palm had a layer of calluses that only sword practitioners would have.
She pushed forward with great force, as if afraid that he would lose his grip, and held his palm tightly. The scorching heat, wrapped in vigorous vitality, was transferred from the contacted skin to his cold blood, as if to warm up his always cold body.
Li Chi lowered his eyes, took her hand and got out of the car, and was about to take his hand back the moment he landed.
But when I moved my fingers, I couldn't pull them back.
The man under the mask raised his eyebrows in surprise for the second time.
He turned his head to look at Xia Fuyi, and met the girl's somewhat dazed and burning eyes.
"Miss Fuyi."
He pulled up the hands that were tightly held together, and Xia Fuyi woke up from the state of divine protection again, suddenly let go of her hands and bounced backwards.
"Feel sorry."
The apology was very straightforward, and his expression was as cold as ever. However, his burning ears, set against the flickering flames in the distance, looked like jade filled with blood, a red that was crystal clear.
Li Chi glanced at her ears, looked away as if he saw nothing, and walked towards Lian Tang who was living.
Seeing him leave, Xia Fuyi swallowed and took a deep breath with her eyes closed.
She didn't walk towards Li Chi until her ears felt less hot.

Beside the fire not far away, the woman in red slowly withdrew her gaze, lowered her head and used a branch to pick up firewood.
The firelight illuminated her expression hidden under her long hair, which looked far more gloomy than the night.
