Chapter 1741 To Keep You Alive
Xia Fuyi started to have a fever that night.
Unable to find a doctor in the wilderness, Lian Tang had to find a water source and tore off his clothes to make a cooling device for her and put it on her forehead.
"The next city is about a day and a half away. Sir, what if her fever doesn't subside?"
Inside the carriage, Xia Fuyi lay in Li Chi's quilt, her face flushed red, but her eyes stared at the two of them quietly. She looked very well-behaved and harmless, not at all like the cold-blooded killer who had just killed a large number of assassins.
Li Chi sat next to her, looked down at her, and after a moment reached out and touched her face.
The girl shuddered slightly, and her ears turned red due to her sensitivity.
Li Chi pretended not to see anything and just said to Lian Tang,
"You go out and continue driving, I'll take care of her."
Lian Tang was stunned for a moment, then turned around and left in disappointment.
Then the carriage began to roll forward again in the night.
Inside the carriage, after a long period of silence, Xia Fuyi spoke in a hoarse voice.
"Why didn't you ask me?"
"What do you want to ask?"
"What is the relationship with Tianji Sect?"
"Didn't that guy say that he was the one who picked you up and raised you?"
"But I'm not an ungrateful person."
"I know."
"How do you know?"
"I can tell."
Li Chi changed a cold cloth for her and said lightly,
"I just fed you for a few days, and you're willing to risk your life for me."
"No,"
There was a dim light in the car, and the girl's voice was as weak as the light, but she continued to speak persistently and seriously.
"It's not just about those meals."
Her thin lower eyelids were slightly red due to the fever, which made her dark eyes look bright and watery.
“I just don’t want to see you die. I don’t want to repay you, I don’t want you to be my employer, I just want you to live.”
Li Chi dipped the cloth into cold water and completely immersed his hands in it. The cool touch spread from his skin to his whole body, especially his heart, sobering up his brain which was heated by the girl's words.
Changsun Qingzhao will not give up.
He silently wrung the water out of the cloth and changed it for her again.
The girl, who didn't get any response, lowered her eyelids to hide the loss in her eyes, and deeper fatigue and trance gradually spread from deep within.
The carriage rumbled along, from the darkness until the first light of dawn.
Xia Fuyi slept soundly. When it was dawn, Li Chi came to touch her forehead and found that her fever had mostly subsided. By noon, the girl was able to get out of the car and go to the woods by the roadside to collect firewood in preparation for camping tonight.
"Not too many, there are plenty of forests along the way anyway."
Lian Tang also came over with an armful of dead branches. Upon hearing this, Xia Fuyi gave up the idea of going deeper into the woods and turned around to leave the forest with firewood in her arms. At the edge of the forest, a silver-faced man was sitting on the shaft of a cart, polishing his sword with his head down. It was his long sword with a black scabbard.
The dragon abyss on Xia Fuyi's waist suddenly hummed again.
She stopped for a moment, and Lian Tang beside her also looked over.
However, this one glance made Lian Tang scream out loud,
"You're bleeding from the nose!"
Xia Fuyi was stunned and looked down. A drop of blood just happened to drip onto the dead branch.
As she lowered her head, more blood gushed out of her nose and dripped onto the dead branches.
The mottled bloodstains fell into Xia Fuyi's eyes, making her brain dizzy again.
A feeling of powerlessness suddenly washed over her body. She couldn't even hold the firewood in her hands, and the branches fell to the ground with a crackling sound.
She looked up at Li Chi.
Under the ice-blue sky of early winter, the silver-faced man had jumped off the carriage and was walking towards her quickly.
His eyes are still clearer and more beautiful than amber.
It’s really, so beautiful.
Before she could get a closer look, the girl's vision blurred.
She suddenly fell backwards without warning, and the last thing in her sight was the boundless ice-blue sky.
