Chapter 1828 She Scares Me
"The happier I am, the more afraid I am."
"The warmer it gets, the more I think of every loss I've ever had."
His eyes were filled with the tombstone in front of him. The deep blue was as rich as the sea at midnight, and beneath the surface of the sea was an inextricable sadness.
But he was still smiling, and the smile on his lips never disappeared.
"You've probably never counted how much we've lost."
"But now that things have come to this, I don't want to count anymore."
"Bless me, Grandpa, or I shall hate you."
The whole world was filled with the sound of heavy rain, and Cheng Zhiyuan stood in this desolate cemetery for a long time.
"I'm leaving, Grandpa. See you next time, probably next year."
Finally, he lowered his head and touched the rough and cold stone tablet, then quickly withdrew his hand, turned around and walked out of the cemetery.
The figure was tall and dark, like an indelible dark soul on this rainy day.
As soon as I stepped out of the cemetery, a figure leaning against the wall holding an umbrella stood up.
"You never bring an umbrella,"
Cheng Yuqing finally gave up her white coat and put on a black suit jacket. She raised the black umbrella over the man's head and said lightly,
"It always rains every time you come to the cemetery."
Cheng Zhiyuan curled his lips slightly.
"Maybe they don't welcome me."
"I don't know about others, but at least your grandfather and your parents will definitely welcome you."
Cheng Zhiyuan didn't answer, but just asked,
"Aunt, why are you still here? I thought you left a long time ago."
"You came here specifically to avoid me, didn't you?"
Cheng Yuqing glanced at him sideways.
"But today is your grandfather's death anniversary after all. I figured you'd come to see me after all. I've been waiting for you since I gave you the flowers."
"I didn't avoid you on purpose,"
The man lowered his eyes, and the rain fell down his black eyelashes.
The tall and thin man stood under the umbrella. He was much taller than Cheng Yuqing, but he looked fragile and depressed, as if he was overwhelmed by carrying too much.
His voice mixed with the sound of rain, adding a touch of coolness.
"Help me, auntie."
There was no hint of pleading in her expression. Cheng Yuqing stared at him blankly, but for some reason her eyes suddenly became sore.
·
It was still the room specially used for psychological treatment. Cheng Yuqing pulled open the heavy curtains, revealing the gloomy rain outside the window.
She turned on the desk lamp, and Cheng Zhiyuan sat down in the dim light. His wet black eyelashes were blurred and shiny, which made his pale face look even more shocking.
Cheng Yuqing sat down behind the table and looked at him for a long time before slowly saying,
"This doesn't look like finally getting what you wanted in love after all these years,"
She curled her lips and made a joke.
"Did you finally realize after being with her that she wasn't your true love?"
But Cheng Zhiyuan ignored her joke and just said with drooping eyelids,
"She scares me."
Cheng Yuqing stopped laughing and his voice became quiet.
"What are you afraid of?"
“Fear of loss.”
Cheng Yuqing was slightly startled, but Cheng Zhiyuan still didn't look at her. He continued with a tone that seemed out of touch with the world and a tired expression,
"When she laughs, I feel happy. When she cries, I feel terribly hurt. But whether it's laughter or tears, happiness or pain, it all feels unreal to me... It's like holding a kite in my hand, and the only thing connecting the kite to me is a thin spider's thread. How can I treat this spider's thread?"
Isolated from the sound of rain outside the glass window, his voice lost its elegance for the first time, and even every breath he took was hoarse and exhausted.
