Chapter 2: The Man at the Funeral

Chapter 2: The Man at the Funeral

It hurts! It hurts so much!

Xia Yunduan woke up in heart-wrenching pain.

When I opened my eyes, I saw the faces of the Ning brothers and sisters looking down at me.

Ning Qianqian still had tears on her face, and she was crying so hard that she could hardly breathe.

"Sister-in-law, don't blame my brother. This is all my fault. Ning's company is in dire straits right now. If you divorce my brother, wouldn't that make the company even worse? Sister-in-law, please forgive me. I did this all for Mom and Dad."

Blood continued to flow down her face. She saw at the edge of darkness that her husband, whom she had loved for many years, reached out and gently hugged Ning Qianqian.

"Qianqian, I won't let you go to jail. I know you're doing this for me."

Then he frowned and glanced at the ground,

"Yunyun is dead. She was in a bad mood today and drank a little. She was driving too fast and died in a car accident. We are all very sad."

Xia Yunduan listened to these words numbly, his heart had become so cold that even the pain had disappeared... Wait, it doesn't hurt anymore?

She sat up from the ground, looked back blankly, and saw that her body was still bleeding, but she had already escaped.

Full of shock, Ning Haoyu leaned over and walked past her, took out his cell phone from the corpse's pocket, made a call and put it back on the ground, and then his cell phone rang.

He hung up quickly.

"I was on my way home when it happened. I didn't answer her call because I was driving," he said, shaking his phone at Ning Qianqian. "You were sitting in my passenger seat at the time."

He put away the phone, then helped Ning Qianqian, who was still crying, back to the car.

"I have an alibi. I'll call someone to complete it later. Don't cry."

The two people who left at this moment didn't know that right behind them, a shadow covered in blood, with bloodshot eyes and a devil-like look, was rushing towards them.

.

Xia Yunduan soon realized she couldn't go anywhere except to the corpse. So she could only watch as the men in black meticulously arranged the scene to look like an accident, watched as the body was brought back to the Ning residence, watched as her husband personally poured a bottle of her favorite red wine into her mouth, and watched as she was placed in the coffin, where Ning Qianqian and Ning Haoyu personally closed the lid for her.

.

The soul cannot cry, so she didn't shed a single tear.

She stood in the bustling mourning hall with a dull look in her eyes.

Boundless regret and deep hatred almost drove her crazy.

Those who came to pay their respects were all celebrities from the empire. In front of others, they looked very sad, but behind others' backs, they whispered to each other and sighed with disdain.

"I told you all along that Miss Xia is a fool. She turned down the Cheng family's marriage proposal and insisted on marrying into the Ning family, and now she's ended up like this."

"Isn't it? I heard that as soon as the news reached Yungang, Mr. Huo fainted. Otherwise, he would have rushed over by now."

"If she had married Master Cheng, she would be a wealthy lady now. Master Cheng has been single for five years, and recently I heard that he has a fiancée, and there's a lot of noise going on."

At this time, there was a noisy noise approaching from outside the door. The guests present turned their heads and looked, all of them were shocked.

A man in a smoky grey woolen coat strode in from the door, his long legs so long they made one want to measure them, the hems of his coat swirling in the wind. Behind him were two silent, neat rows of men in black suits.

When he walked through the crowd, they would step aside for him, like Moses parting the sea.

He finally stopped in front of the mourning hall, his gaze fixed on the large portrait in the center. The man was strikingly handsome, with features two points deeper than the average man's, a prominent nose, thin lips tightly pursed, and eyes as dark as ink. The ink was so rich it evoked a hint of steel blue, and at first glance, it felt as if one were plummeting into a deep, starry sea.

Dangerous, yet very charming.

At this moment, his face was slightly pale, and his gaze on the portrait was extremely deep and focused, almost weird.

After a moment of silence, Ning Haoyu was about to step forward, but he suddenly moved, without even looking at anyone, and reached back. The subordinate who followed closely behind him immediately handed him a black pistol and placed it respectfully in his slender hand.

The air was tense at this moment.

But in the suffocating silence, he pulled the trigger in an orderly manner, raised the gun with one hand, and stretched his arm.

The gun was pointing at the priceless coffin.
