An hour later, the two finally washed themselves clean in the inn.
But even so, Xia Fuyi still felt a strange smell on her body.
Just as she was about to bend down to smell her clothes, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
Xia Fuyi poured a cup of tea and held it in her hand with an indifferent expression. Fu Yan closed the door and walked in slowly. She stood in front of her but didn't speak for a long time.
Xia Fuyi glanced at her and asked after a moment,
"Do you want me to thank you?"
Fu Yan looked at her in surprise and immediately shook her head.
"How could I possibly have such thoughts? You saved my life, which is something I can never repay. How can I have the audacity to ask you to thank me?"
Xia Fuyi became even more confused.
"Then what do you want from me?"
She looked straight at Fu Yan, and her eyes clearly said, "It's time for us to go our separate ways."
Fu Yan's eyes dimmed, she lowered her head and said in a hoarse voice,
"I know you don't want to see me anymore, but you're not well yet and need someone to take care of you..."
Xia Fuyi was baffled.
"What does it have to do with you?"
After a moment she suddenly said,
"You want to repay the favor?"
Fu Yan didn't answer, but her attitude was already considered as acquiescence.
Xia Fuyi smiled, a rare smile with a hint of mockery in it.
"unnecessary."
After thinking about it, she said a few more words.
"Now that you have left the palace, you can return to the palace and continue to be a maid, or you can go home and live with your family."
Fu Yan shook her head.
"I can't go back to the palace, and I can't be a maid. The maid Fu Yan had already died the day you saved me. Her body was found in the lake, wearing my clothes and my bracelets."
Xia Fuyi raised her eyes in surprise and gave Fu Yan a bitter smile.
"When they were about to kill me, the body was thrown into the lake. When you rescued me and I returned, I heard that I had committed suicide by jumping into the lake. "You can go home."
"There's no going back,"
Fu Yan shook her head, her voice was very difficult.
"The parents of maids who died in the palace would receive a substantial pension. That amount would be enough for my parents to live out the rest of their lives. If I were to return alive, they would probably not only be scared to death, but also pissed off to death."
As she spoke, she looked up at Xia Fuyi and suddenly knelt on the ground with a plop.

As she spoke, she began to sob, her eyes red as she raised her hand to take the candlestick on the table.
"If you don't trust me, you can disable my voice and make me speechless. I will definitely not betray you again!"
As she spoke, she raised her hand, pointed the spike on the candlestick at her throat, and stabbed it fiercely.

Xia Fuyi frowned and knocked the candlestick out of her hand, but a glaring blood mark was still left on Fu Yan's neck.
