Gift

Gift

Today is the first month that Jiang Yile and Gu Nanxiao have been together.

The two of them went to a park in the east of the city. They heard that the park was full of tulips, roses, hydrangeas, lavender, etc.

As someone who loves painting, how can I not be moved?

Gu Nanxiao, who was sitting next to Jiang Yile, saw her staring at the park in the east of the city on her phone, and he knew what she was thinking. As a boyfriend, of course he had to fulfill his girlfriend's little wish.

In the late spring of the South City, the air is filled with the sweet fragrance of flowers and the fresh scent of growing plants.

The sun is no longer as shy as it was in early spring. It has become bright and full, generously sprinkling all over the earth.

The wetland park in the east of the city is now at its most splendid time of the year.

The vast fields of tulips are like an overturned palette, with red, orange, yellow and purple colors interwoven into glittering ribbons in the sunlight.

Roses cling to the retro archways, their petals layered on top of each other as soft as silk, emitting a sweet, intoxicating fragrance.

The blue and purple hydrangeas cluster together like dreamy bubbles.

In the distance, there are patches of pale purple lavender swaying in the breeze, bringing a peaceful and soothing fragrance.

Jiang Yile almost ran into the sea of flowers, his eyes were surprisingly bright, like Alice who had strayed into Wonderland.

She was wearing a white cotton dress today, the hem of which fluttered gently as she ran. Against the backdrop of the colorful flower fields, it looked so fresh that it seemed to glow.

"Gu Nanxiao, look! It's so beautiful!"

She turned around and waved excitedly to the young man who was following her slowly, her cheeks flushed with a healthy blush from running and excitement.

Gu Nanxiao looked at her excited back, and there was a tenderness in his eyes that was almost overflowing, which he himself had not noticed.

He was wearing a simple white shirt and khaki trousers today. He had a graceful figure and stood among the flowers, like a tall poplar, strangely harmonious with the gorgeous background.

He took a few quick steps to catch up with her, but his eyes were more focused on her, as if she was the most beautiful scenery in the garden.

"Yeah, it's beautiful."

He responded in a low voice, not knowing whether he was talking about the flowers or the people.

Jiang Yile was completely immersed in the world of colors. She took out a sketchbook and charcoal pencils from the canvas bag she was carrying, found a bench under the shade of a tree, sat down, and began to quickly sketch the beautiful scenery in front of her.

The tip of the pen rustled, and she frowned slightly, her expression focused, trying to capture the moment when light and shadow danced on the petals and record this rich spring scenery.

Gu Nanxiao did not disturb her, but just sat quietly beside her.

He didn't look at his phone or read a book, but just watched her serious profile as she painted, watched the corners of her mouth occasionally curled up slightly when she captured a satisfactory composition, and watched her soft hair blown by the wind and brushed against her cheek.

Time here seems to be stretched, becoming slow and sticky.

The air was filled with the rich scent of flowers, grass, and the smell of sun-baked earth.

Occasionally a bee buzzed by, a butterfly fluttered among the flowers, and the faint laughter of children came from the distance.

Everything seemed too good to be true.

After finishing a sketch, Jiang Yile put down his pen with satisfaction and stretched his sore neck.

Only then did she notice that Gu Nanxiao had been quietly accompanying her.

"Are you bored waiting?"

She stuck out her tongue a little embarrassedly.

"No." Gu Nanxiao shook his head and handed her a bottle of mineral water with the cap unscrewed. "It's very interesting to watch you draw."

His eyes fell on her sketchbook, which showed a field of blooming tulips. The lines were smooth, the light and shadow were perfectly controlled, and it was full of vibrant movement.

"For you." Jiang Yile tore off the page of drawing paper and handed it to him, his eyes curved. "One of the anniversary gifts."

Gu Nanxiao took the drawing paper, his fingertips carefully avoiding the charcoal marks. He looked at the painting, then looked up at her with deep eyes: "This is the best gift I have ever received."

His tone was serious, without any perfunctory tone.

Jiang Yile's heart seemed to be filled with honey, so sweet that it made him feel swollen.

They strolled aimlessly through the park, through rose arches, past hydrangea bushes, and stopped by lavender fields.

Jiang Yile was like a happy little bird, chirping and talking, sometimes pointing to a peculiar flower shape for him to see, sometimes moving closer to smell the fragrance of the flower, then wrinkling his nose and saying, "It's so fragrant that I feel a little dizzy."

Gu Nanxiao just listened most of the time, occasionally responding a few words, his eyes always following her.

He would grab her wrist in time when she almost stepped into a puddle, and would naturally reach out to help her fix her hair when it was messed up by the wind.

When they reached a relatively secluded slope covered with small white flowers, Jiang Yile pulled him to sit down on the soft grass.

The sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting mottled shadows on the ground and also dancing on his handsome profile.

The hustle and bustle of the distant city is isolated, and here there are only the wind, birdsong, and the sound of each other's breathing close to each other.

The atmosphere suddenly became a little subtle and quiet.

Jiang Yile took out a small, exquisitely packaged box from her canvas bag and handed it to him, her cheeks slightly red: "And... this."

Gu Nanxiao was stunned for a moment, then took the box and asked, "What is it?"

"Open it and take a look."

Jiang Yile twisted his fingers nervously.

He opened the package as instructed, and inside was a dark blue velvet box.

Opening the lid, a simple and elegant silver brooch lies quietly on the black lining.

The brooch is shaped like an abstract paintbrush, with a small but very bright diamond on the tip, sparkling in the sunlight.

"The first time I saw it, I felt it suited you." Jiang Yile explained in a low voice, with anticipation in her eyes, "You like painting, although now... but I think it's like the pen in your heart that you haven't put down. Moreover, it also looks like the 2B pencil you use when solving problems..." Her voice became lower and lower as she spoke, and she felt that her metaphor was a bit silly.

Gu Nanxiao looked at the brooch and didn't speak for a long time.

His fingers gently stroked the cold metal and the tiny diamond, and his fingertips trembled slightly.

He thought of that afternoon in the studio when she had asked him why he stopped painting.

I think of those painting tools that I deliberately sealed away and were covered in dust.

I think of the instinctive desire for light and color deep in my heart that has never been truly extinguished.

This small brooch, like a key, gently knocked on the closed door of his heart.

He raised his eyes and looked deeply into her clear, slightly uneasy eyes.

It is filled with unconditional sincerity, cautious love, and complete understanding and acceptance of him.

A surging, boiling emotion instantly broke down all his defenses.

"I like it." His voice was very hoarse and nasal. "I like it very much."

He picked up the brooch and carefully pinned it on the left chest of his shirt. The small diamond was close to his heart, as if he could feel the heat that was about to be ignited under its cold touch.

Then he reached out, not to take the gift beside him, but to gently hold her hand, which was slightly curled up on her knees due to nervousness.

His palms were warm, with a little bit of damp sweat, but they firmly wrapped around her slightly cool fingers.

Jiang Yile's heart suddenly skipped a beat, and then began to beat wildly.

She raised her head and met his eyes, which were so close to her.

In those eyes that were always as calm as water, there were now surging waves of undisguised affection, emotion, and a cherishing that was almost pious.

The sunlight cast a golden hue on his thick eyelashes, and his handsome face looked a little unreal in the halo.

He slowly lowered his head.

This time, there was no sudden rain, no classmates breaking into the studio, and no external interference.

The world was so quiet that only the pounding heartbeats and the intermingling breaths could be heard.

His warm breath brushed against her cheek, carrying with it his clean, crisp scent, like that of a pine forest after snow, blending with the rich fragrance of flowers around her to form a unique and dizzying smell.

His lips, softly and tentatively, rested on her forehead.

Like a butterfly perching on petals, like sunlight kissing the morning dew.

A pure, precious kiss that speaks volumes.

Jiang Yile closed her eyes, and her long eyelashes trembled slightly like butterfly wings.

The warm touch on her forehead was like an electric current, instantly spreading throughout her limbs and bones, making her feel numb all over and almost collapse in his arms.

All the sounds and colors disappeared at this moment, and all that remained in her senses was his burning body temperature and the gentle yet solemn promise he placed on her forehead.

The kiss lingered for a few seconds before he slowly raised his head, but his arms were still wrapped around her, not loosening.

He rested his forehead against hers, and nuzzled her nose gently, the action intimate and natural.

"Le Le," he called her softly, his voice low and magnetic, with an unprecedented tenderness, "Thank you."

Thank you for appearing, thank you for your courage, thank you for your understanding, thank you... for liking me for who I am.

Jiang Yile was speechless, but just held his hand tightly, buried his hot cheeks in his warm neck, and greedily breathed in the reassuring scent from him.

The spring breeze blew by, blowing the corners of his white shirt and the hem of her white dress.

On the grass, the two shadows snuggled closely together, as if it was supposed to be that way.

In the distance, the sea of flowers is still gorgeous, just like their future that has just begun and is full of infinite possibilities.

They stayed in the park for a long time, until the sun set and dyed the sky a gorgeous orange-red.

On the way back, the two held hands and walked slowly. No one spoke, but they felt extremely at peace.

When they look at each other occasionally, they can see happiness that is full and almost overflowing in each other's eyes.
