Chapter 12 I Want to Rub Her Dimples
The man stood casually against the wall in the roadside smoking area, his broad shoulders against the wall, a cigarette in his mouth, a lighter in one hand, and the other hand clasped together.
The instant the lighter's flame lit up, he abruptly looked up, his dark, narrow eyes revealing his usual sharp indifference.
The old scar on his brow was faintly visible.
Xin Mian met his gaze, and her heart skipped a beat, much to her dismay.
He turned his head timidly, his gaze darting around erratically.
The cigarette was never lit. Chi Yu put away the lighter and gave a cold laugh.
They pretended not to know each other.
On the other side, Liu Haoyuan rushed over and put his arm around Qin Shengtian's shoulder like a good brother, "It's more fun with more people! Let's go in together."
......
The bar is called "Jane," and the interior decor matches the name perfectly. The overall color scheme is dark, and the warm lighting creates a slightly ambiguous atmosphere.
However, it wasn't as noisy as Xinmian had imagined.
On the stage in the center of the first floor, a resident male singer was holding a guitar and singing a ballad in a low voice.
The customers in the booths and at the bar were either chatting quietly or listening to music with their glasses in hand.
Xin Mian and Qin Shengtian were caught red-handed by Chi Yu and the other two at the door, so it was impossible for them to sit separately.
When the bar owner, Lin Jiachi, saw Chi Yu arrive, he crawled out from behind the bar and patted him on the shoulder with a smile.
He recognized the others, but Xin Mian was a girl he didn't recognize.
A group of people sat down in a booth. Lin Jiachi noticed that Xin Mian and Qin Shengtian were sitting close together, and asked Qin Shengtian with a smile, "Where did you meet this pretty little sister?"
Qin Shengtian gestured with her chin, "Mianmian is Yu-ge's tenant."
"The tenants on the third floor."
Lin Jiachi raised an eyebrow, looking thoughtfully at Chi Yu, "The third floor has been rented out?"
Chi Yu said coldly, "You still care about this?"
Lin Jiachi laughed heartily, without answering the question, and turned to extend his hand to Xin Mian, "Hello, my name is Lin Jiachi."
“I’m a bit older than you. You and Tian Tian can just call me Brother Chi.”
Xin Mian shook hands with him, smiled and said, "Hello, Brother Chi, my name is Xin Mian."
She speaks in a soft tone and greets people politely and well; she seems like an easy-going girl.
The resident singer had switched to a more upbeat song, and the accompaniment volume had increased.
To make it easier for Lin Jiachi to hear her clearly, Xin Mian deliberately raised her voice when introducing herself, and Chi Yu, who was sitting next to her, heard it all clearly.
The man slightly lifted his eyelids, his gaze falling on her for a moment before shifting away.
He sat on the side of the booth, the light occasionally sweeping across his handsome face, dividing his cold and tough eyebrows into light and shadow boundaries, and the dark color in his eyes quietly becoming deeper.
Lin Jiachi waved his hand and ordered the waiter to bring out drinks and snacks, saying, "Ayu's friends are my friends."
"Tonight we're celebrating the arrival of our new friend, so this table is on my tab."
After saying that, he handed the menu to Xin Mian and Qin Shengtian, "What would you two girls like to drink? Order yourselves, we also have non-alcoholic drinks."
It's common to see a few grown men having a few drinks in a quiet bar.
However, they didn't have a habit of urging others to drink, especially since there were girls present.
"Mianmian, what would you like to drink?"
Qin Shengtian only graduated this year. In the previous four years, she only returned to Wangshui Island during winter and summer vacations, and she visited Lin Jiachi's shop very few times.
She was eager to try some fruit wine, but Yang Chengjing stopped her as soon as she made a move.
"Didn't your uncle say at noon that you should go with him to buy goods tomorrow morning?"
Oh right...
Qin Shengtian was deflated.
Fruit wine can be drunk anytime, but stocking up is the important thing.
So she turned her finger and could only order a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
Xinmian noticed her listless expression and then looked at the menu in her hand.
The page is stuck on the fruit wine page.
The vibrant colors are very tempting, and the alcohol content is thoughtfully noted next to each cup.
But after looking around, she finally gave up the idea and only ordered a glass of freshly squeezed juice, just like Qin Shengtian's.
She knew nothing about her alcohol tolerance or her drinking behavior; after all, she was new here, so it was better to be "refined".
Chi Yu took the menu from her and handed it back to the waiter, chuckling softly, "She's quite self-aware."
Xinmian: ? ? ?
Did you just speak?
He looked up at her, his sharp profile half-hidden in the shadows. To make it easier to speak, he leaned slightly towards her, his tone lazy, "My family doesn't take in little drunkards."
The music was so loud that the distance between the two people instantly closed.
The man's breath brushed lightly against her ear as he spoke. Xin Mian shrank back, leaning back in her chair, and muttered softly, "I didn't say I wanted to drink..."
Before long, the waiter brought out all the food.
She sipped her juice slowly, glancing curiously around the bar as she drank.
Their spot is the best one on the first floor, directly facing the stage.
The semi-circular sofa slightly separates this area from the rest of the space, creating a relatively independent area.
The light was not very bright, and shadows occasionally flashed by, creating an up-and-down effect.
Liu Haoyuan and Yang Chengjing were already playing dice on the side. Xin Mian watched for a while, but didn't quite understand. As she looked away, a glint flashed in her eye.
Was it just her imagination?
Why does it look like Chi Yu is looking at her?
But when she looked closer, she saw the man calmly sitting with his long legs wide open, idly drinking mineral water.
Want to come to the bar for some mineral water?
Xin Mian stared intently at the mineral water bottle in his hand.
"What? You're not drinking orange juice anymore and are eyeing my water instead?"
Chi Yu remained in the same posture, his body upright yet languid, his whole demeanor nonchalant and unrestrained, his tone cold and roguish.
With a slight flick of his dark eyes, he exuded a deep and intimidating aura, immediately scaring away the several men who were eager to approach and strike up a conversation with the two girls.
Xin Mian didn't notice his subtle movements.
I was just curious, "You come to a quiet bar but don't drink?"
Chi Yu lazily raised his chin, gesturing for her to look at Liu Haoyuan and Yang Chengjing.
There were beer bottles scattered on the table; the two of them had finished more than half a case of beer in less than half an hour.
Yang Chengjing is a little better; he is able to stay conscious.
Liu Haoyuan was already flushed from the alcohol.
"If I drink, how am I going to take these drunkards home later?"
Xin Mian nodded knowingly.
No wonder Liu Haoyuan, despite his poor alcohol tolerance, drank so recklessly; he knew that no matter what, Chi Yu would always be there to back him up.
As the light and shadows swept by, the resident singer finished another song.
Qin Shengtian became interested and took Xin Mian's hand, "Mianmian, let's go upstairs and sing?"
Xin Mian was sweating profusely, unable to imagine how embarrassed she would feel if she were standing on the stage, being stared at by so many people.
She quickly waved her hand, "I won't go up there, I'll applaud you from below the stage."
Qin Shengtian tried to persuade her, "Come on, come on, come with me."
Xin Mian lacked confidence in herself, "But I sing off-key."
Micro-running.
Sometimes she runs, sometimes she doesn't, but she doesn't dare take the risk.
Otherwise, she'll be the one who embarrasses herself later.
Hearing her say that, Qin Shengtian didn't try to persuade her anymore, and laughed heartily, "Then I'll go."
"Remember to applaud me."
Xin Mian smiled, her dimples appearing, and nodded vigorously, "Definitely!"
In the bar, people occasionally go up on stage to request and sing songs; those who dare to go up on stage are generally quite confident in their singing abilities.
It shouldn't result in that kind of ear-piercing, unpleasant sound.
The resident singer skillfully communicated with Qin Shengtian, selected the song she wanted to sing, and then gave her the stage.
In the booth, Liu Haoyuan, hiccuping from drinking, waved his hand and said, "Let's take a break for now."
Yang Chengjing didn't answer, but patted his shoulder, sat up straight, and listened to the song attentively.
After a brief silence, the cheerful prelude of music began.
Xin Mian recognized it immediately; it was Stefanie Sun's "The First Day".
"This song!"
Qin Shengtian stood on the stage with the microphone in hand, bathed in the spotlight, looking bright and cheerful. "This is dedicated to my new friend—Xin Mian!"
"Today is the first day we met!"
Cheers erupted all around, accompanied by cheerful, light music and occasional whistles.
The atmosphere of the bar was completely transformed from its previous quiet and ambiguous state, and was suddenly elevated to a new level.
"A summer evening after the rain"
I will look forward to it.
Hey, the singing cicada!
Wake up the stars!
The moonlight made it very cool.
......”
Qin Shengtian has a cheerful and outgoing personality, and the song's upbeat rhythm is perfect for her.
As Xin Mian gazed at her friends on the stage, her smile grew wider and her dimples deepened.
Those clear, bright eyes shimmered with light as it was reflected in the sunlight.
She had heard this song before and could sing a little bit of it.
She didn't have the courage to go up and join Qin Shengtian, but she couldn't help but follow her rhythm and hum along with her from below the stage.
That's how I recall it.
The first confession,
Embarrassed, look.
You, who like to pretend to be philosophical, are actually quite adorable.
......”
The girl's voice was low and soft, and she sang very gently, as if she were only singing to herself.
But the bright smile on her face clearly showed that she was already immersed in the lighthearted and cheerful atmosphere of the whole song.
Chi Yu sat next to her, and even with the background music playing loudly, he could still hear her singing.
She didn't dare to sing too loudly, but she was also very happy that Qin Shengtian was singing this song for her.
A sweet, gentle, yet rhythmic voice drifted into his ears.
Almost instinctively, Chi Yu leaned back, his tall frame reclining against the back of the sofa, in a position where he could hear her voice more clearly and precisely.
She was so focused on singing that she didn't notice his subtle movements at all, her bright eyes fixed on Qin Shengtian on the stage.
"On the first day, I existed."
For the first time, breathing was easy.
Ankle standing on the ground,
It feels real because of you.
......”
Her smile remained radiant as she waved vigorously to Qin Shengtian, revealing two deep dimples.
The lights from the first floor swept over her, casting a soft, warm yellow glow on her for a brief moment.
It only lasted for a moment.
But Chi Yu saw it clearly.
You could even see the fine downy hairs on her cheeks, and the pure joy in her clear eyes.
His breathing was slightly heavy, and his long, well-defined fingers rested casually on the table.
My fingertips are itchy.
Suddenly I feel like...
Gently rub those two little dimples.
A note from the author:

Yu Ge: I really want to try it.
Mianmian: No, you don't want to.
