Chapter 58 Burning Fire, Do You Like Him?
Chi Yu was almost laughing in anger. He grabbed her cheek with his long, well-defined fingers, the pads of his fingers sinking into her dimples. His tone was cold and fierce. "Say it again."
Xin Mian hadn't seen him so fierce in a long time, and was startled, but quickly recovered, muttering under her breath, "How can anyone make such a request..."
However, considering he cooked fish porridge, I won't say anything.
On the not-so-large fishing boat, the captain sat in the cabin, and there were only three people on the deck.
Guan Lin had been keeping an eye on their movements. When he saw Chi Yu pinch Xin Mian's face, he instinctively wanted to speak, but when he opened his mouth, he couldn't say anything.
Chi Yu noticed his movement, raised an eyebrow, and lazily asked, "Junior, would you like some porridge?"
The way he said "junior" sounded really strange.
Xin Mian quietly looked up at him. The man's handsome face was still frighteningly cold and stern, and the old scar on his brow revealed his fierce nature.
But when he speaks, he exudes a nonchalant air.
Completely different temperaments, yet they are cleverly and strangely blended in him.
Guan Lin's throat tightened, and his confidence waned further. "...No, no need..."
As soon as he finished speaking, his fishing rod trembled and the bell rang.
A fish has taken the bait!
He was overjoyed and quickly grabbed the handle to pull it back.
"There's a fish! There's a fish!"
Xinmian was also very happy. She stood up and stared intently at the location of the bait, even subconsciously leaning towards it.
But Chi Yu grabbed her waist.
The man silently protected her, helping her steady herself, his gaze deep and dark as he looked down at her.
Hearing the commotion on deck, the captain came over as well.
Guan Lin was a novice, and he had a lot of trouble reeling in the reel. The fishing rod was almost pulled out of a semicircle, stretched to its limit.
He was excited. "Is this a big fish?"
The captain quickly took the fishing rod from his hand, "Hurry up and reel it in, or even the biggest fish will get away."
Guan Lin was in a flurry of activity, wanting to collect the fish himself so he could experience what it felt like to pull it out of the sea.
Fearing he wouldn't be able to collect it himself, he wanted the captain's help.
After all that effort, by the time the fishing rod was reeled in, the bait on the hook was gone.
I didn't see a single fish.
The captain was right.
The fish got away.
Guan Lin froze for a few seconds, his face turning pale and then red. He felt Xin Mian's gaze, but was too embarrassed to look up at her.
It's really embarrassing.
Xin Mian didn't feel embarrassed at all, just a little regretful, and offered a few words of comfort, "You can just fish again."
"If a fish bites once, it will definitely bite again."
Guan Lin nodded silently without saying a word.
The captain stood aside and explained it to him again in great detail.
The sun has risen, and its light spills onto the sea, creating shimmering waves.
The sea breeze wasn't as strong as before, but it was still chilly standing on the boat.
Chi Yu looked down at Xin Mian, then glanced at her fishing rod. "Want something extra for lunch?"
Xin Mian was taken aback, turned around and met his gaze. Realizing what he meant, she nodded emphatically, "Of course I want to!"
Chi Yu didn't say anything more, reached out and put away her fishing rod, and found a new spot.
A spot some distance away from Guan Lin.
Xinmian followed behind him, watching him cast his line and adjust the float, his movements fluid and seamless.
"Chi Yu, how come you seem to know everything?"
Chi Yu turned around to look at her, waved to her, and when she stood beside him, he took out a small thermos from the large pocket of his windbreaker and handed it to her.
Xin Mian pursed her lips and smiled, "You seem to have brought a lot of things. Is there more inside?"
He laughed along, and said, seemingly genuinely, "There are still some."
Sea fishing is a process that requires patience. Given that Guan Lin had just failed once and Chi Yu had only recently cast his line again, Xin Mian was not in a hurry.
I found a spot to sit down at the casting area and chatted idly with Chi Yu.
Perhaps it was because the sun was rising and the temperature was getting higher, or perhaps it was because Chi Yu had appeared, but she was noticeably more relaxed than before, leaning against the railing and gazing at the sea in a daze.
The weather is great today. At 8 a.m., the sunlight is soft and bright, and the warm golden light intertwines with the calm, azure sea, stretching as far as the eye can see.
A gentle sea breeze swept by, the water surface rippled softly, and the seawater lapped against the hull of the boat, making a faint sound.
Before long, flocks of seagulls flew overhead.
Xin Mian's eyes lit up, then she added with a hint of regret, "It would have been great if I had brought bread or biscuits."
The next second, Chi Yu took a small bag of bread slices out of his pocket and put it in her hand.
Xin Mian was both surprised and delighted, "How did you..."
How could he know that seagulls had appeared, and how could he know that she wanted to feed them?
Xin Mian stood there stunned for several seconds. "Chi Yu, I take back what I just said about you being a fairy godmother."
This isn't some fairy godmother; it's a treasure chest!
Chi Yu secured the pole, came to her side, and looked down at her. "Do you know how to feed her?"
Xinmian wondered, "Couldn't I just reach out my hand?"
Is there a trick to this?
Chi Yu tore open the packaging bag, took out a small square piece of bread, and held it between her fingertips, raising her hand slightly.
Then, he placed his entire palm against the back of her hand, supporting it firmly.
He leaned closer, his chest not pressed against her back, but the position made it seem as if he was holding her directly in his arms.
Guan Lin, who was not far away, immediately noticed what was happening in their direction. He wanted to come over, but the captain stopped him. "Hey young man, where are you going?"
"You have to keep an eye on the fishing rod, otherwise you won't even know when a fish comes."
Guan Lin was stopped by his call as he took the first step, and had to turn back.
Xin Mian felt a little uncomfortable about intimate contact in public, and thought she had subtly taken a small step forward.
But the man behind her pressed close, his warm palm on her shoulder, his voice deep, "If you move around, you won't be able to feed the seagulls."
Xin Mian pursed her lips, trying hard to keep her ears from turning red, but to no avail. She could only whisper, "Hey seagulls, you don't need to stand so close..."
"No, it's not necessary."
Noticing her movements, he lowered his eyes and glared at her coldly, clearly displeased with her attempt to "draw a line" outside.
Without warning, he started threatening her in a deep voice, "Seagulls have a strong pecking force; they might just tear a hole in your hand."
"You..." She was indeed startled, instinctively shrinking her shoulders and hiding in his arms.
Her raised hand involuntarily fell, but he grabbed her wrist.
The man's fingertips covered her fair skin, the rough touch pressing against the pulsating frequency of her pale blue veins without any obstruction.
With a slight exertion, I felt her warm vitality in my palm.
Xin Mian's wrist went numb from his grip, and she desperately wanted to let go, but he wouldn't allow it.
His large hand slowly moved upwards along her wrist, supporting the back of her hand so that she could use his strength for support.
“Chi Yu…”
She wanted to say something more, but...
"Sh-"
Chi Yu suddenly whispered in her ear, a very short, breathy sound.
The next second, the bread in her hand was snatched away by a sharp and heavy force.
Xin Mian even felt as if she had been pecked by a seagull's beak, and she staggered half a step without warning, her thin back pressed against his embrace.
This time, the man's chest temperature was transmitted very clearly.
Chi Yu, still in that position, half-encircled her, his expression remaining indifferent and natural. "Do you understand now? This is the force with which a seagull pecks at its prey."
It's very heavy, and I feel a little pain.
Moreover, because it is a sharp-beaked animal, the force of its peck is very sharp.
But after overcoming her initial surprise and discomfort, Xinmian gradually discovered the joy of feeding the seagulls.
She fed the seagulls a bag of bread slices, tearing them into small pieces at the end, watching them snatch the bread from her hands, flap their wings, and fly away, her smile bright and cheerful.
The dimples at the corners of her lips swayed deeply, as if filled with sunlight.
Chi Yu stared intently at her, his eyes burning with undisguised intensity.
Because of his presence, Xinmian's time on the ship became less unbearable.
Around 9 a.m., she took off her coat to make it easier to move around, and during that time she caught two fish with Chi Yu's help.
They are two sea bass.
Guan Lin also had a good catch, managing to catch a mackerel that weighed nearly 10 pounds.
In this season of clear skies and crisp air, with no clouds to block the sun, the temperature is rising higher and higher, and Xinmian's face is slightly red from the sun.
Chi Yu instructed the captain to turn around and return to port immediately.
Guan Lin had just finished putting away her fishing rod when she looked up at him but didn't say anything.
When we got back to shore, it was almost noon.
The once bustling dock has now quieted down, with only fishermen cleaning their boats and repairing their nets.
Chi Yu, carrying the fish, was the first to disembark. Standing on the shore, he reached out his hand, and Xin Mian naturally took his arm, carefully helping him down from the boat.
The two of them didn't say a word from beginning to end, yet they were perfectly in sync.
Guan Lin stood there watching, feeling a lump in his throat, unable to breathe properly.
The morning passed without much physical contact between the two, but it was clear to everyone that they were very close.
Chi Yu's face was cold and he was clearly unhappy, but no matter what he did, he always put Xin Mian's feelings first.
Xinmian accepted his care naturally and intimately, without being distant or formal.
Guan Lin, like a complete naive young man, wanted to leave a good impression on Xin Mian, but his thoughtfulness was limited to reminding her to bring a coat via WeChat.
He even forgot to buy breakfast and forgot to bring water.
I was so nervous last night that I didn't fall asleep until midnight, and I almost overslept this morning.
It was all too late then.
Guan Lin smiled bitterly and looked at Xin Mian, "Senior, how about we find a restaurant to cook these three fish?"
"I'm going back to Yuncheng this afternoon, so consider this a farewell party for me."
Xinmian looked at the fish still jumping around in the small tank and nodded with a smile, "Okay."
Chi Yu asked her at the opportune moment, "Going to Uncle Qin's place?"
“Okay,” Xin Mian agreed, then turned to Guan Lin and said, “Uncle Qin’s restaurant is very good. You can ask him to process the fish for you.”
Chi Yu's car was parked in a nearby parking lot, which was neither too far nor too close to the pier.
The entire road was shaded by no trees, so it was very sunny.
He glanced at Xin Mian, pulled her to a shady spot nearby, and whispered, "Wait for me here, I'll go get the car."
Xin Mian looked up at him obediently with her little face, and nodded with a smile, "Okay."
Before leaving, Chi Yu glanced at Guan Lin meaningfully.
Their eyes met, and Guan Lin's brow twitched violently before he immediately looked away.
After the tall man had walked away, Guan Lin hesitated for a long time before tentatively asking, "...Senior, what do you think of Wangshui Island?"
Xinmian thought he was asking about her experience living there, so she tilted her head and thought for a moment before giving a detailed account of Wangshui Island.
Finally, she didn't forget to tell him, "If you want to live a long-distance life, you'd better not look for a place like I did."
"I just happened to run into Grandma Chen, she's a really nice person. If you're looking for something similar, you should still do your research and compare prices at several places..."
She continued talking, but Guan Lin showed no interest in the matter of traveling and living together.
He stared at her for a long time, finally mustering his courage to ask.
"Senior, do you like him?"
-----------------------
Author's Note: Some readers don't quite understand why Mianmian accepted the invitation, so let me explain a little [hugs]. From Mianmian's perspective, Guan Lin had never expressed any romantic feelings towards her. Their interactions were limited to normal senior-junior interactions. In her view, she was simply fulfilling her duty as a host, engaging in normal social interactions, so she didn't refuse.
Mianmian is currently driven by hormones towards Chi Yu. She likes his appearance, his body, and perhaps there is something deeper, but she is not aware of it yet.
As for Chi Yu, ever since he asked for a formal relationship with Mianmian after she got drunk that night, he has always believed that he is having a normal boyfriend-girlfriend relationship with her. Therefore, he would ask for hugs, kisses, and sex from Mianmian, and he would have higher emotional needs (sorry, Brother Yu, this part is a bit sad and funny [dog emoji]).
The two people have different perspectives, so their understanding of Guan Lin's situation is also different.
Chi Yu wants Mianmian to fully accept him, not only to enjoy the present but also to include him in her future plans. There's still a long way to go. [Please!]
Keep up the good work during this challenging period, Yu-ge!
Finally, I hope you enjoy reading this article! [kissing emoji]
