Carnivora Feeding Guide
Treating experimental subjects, especially high-risk carnivores, is never a pleasant experience.
The Federation has never been lenient with non-human "special beings," and their low intelligence, ugliness, ferocity, and inability to communicate usually fail to evoke the overflowing and cheap sympathy of humans.
But S1 is different.
Although now, apart from her, no one remembers or acknowledges that "it" was once that spirited and top young scientist.
Mermaid experimental subject S1 and human scientist Shen Huai'an, if they did not share the same voice (although the voice is lower and hoarse in mermaid form), the same memories, and the same "human" personality, no one could connect the two based on their appearance alone.
Yunhe squeezed into the cage through the narrow opening, a thin layer of sweat already on her forehead. The artificial light from the dome shone brightly on the mermaid's face, her snow-white face, more profound and exquisite than a Greek statue, seemed to be smiling but not smiling. Her ice-blue eyes were half-open beneath equally snow-white, feather-like eyelashes, forever displaying a lazy, half-awake appearance.
“Yunhe”.
Whenever he was serious about something, he would address her like this: "You should leave this to the infirmary."
"Do you think I don't want to?" Yunhe surprisingly didn't roll her eyes. She squatted down beside him, applying gel to the wound on his tail fin as she whispered, "Besides me, who else would dare to directly touch you, this beast with sharp teeth and claws, without any protection?"
“Mermaids are judged by their bodies, not their heads,” Shen Huai’an corrected her seriously, while deliberately parting his lips slightly to reveal four pale, sharp fangs.
Yunhe: "..."
Tch. Elementary school student behavior.
The wound on his tail fin was almost festering, but that wasn't the worst of it. More serious was the seemingly worsening muscle atrophy. Yunhe couldn't bear to look any longer, so after a quick treatment, she immediately turned her attention back to his wrist.
“You need the necessary exercise,” she said in a dry voice. “Otherwise… you’ll become crippled.”
She simply couldn't continue. Just a few days earlier, her suggestion to the director to get a larger cage had been rejected, so it was clear that there was no possibility whatsoever of any further lenient measures.
Shen Huai'an chuckled softly. He moved his equally worn wrist, then suddenly thrust it forward, instantly tauting the chains on both sides into straight lines!
The sharp claws hovered less than half an inch from her throat. She felt her breath freeze instantly.
That's an instinctive fear of deadly danger etched into our genes.
“It’s unwise to pity something that can easily kill you,” he said casually, as he lowered his hands and placed them back in the center of the fish tail.
"..."
Yun remained frozen in that position for over a minute. An extremely awkward and suffocating atmosphere filled the air.
"You're just putting on a brave face."
After a long while, Yunhe finally let out a long breath. When she looked up again, there was no trace of confusion in her eyes: "But I will never allow you to become crippled."
Then, under Shen Huai'an's complicated gaze, she took out two silk cushions from the medicine box and said with a stern face, "Give me your hand."
Shen Huai'an raised an eyebrow uncooperatively: "Another violation of regulations."
"I've never seen a prisoner worry about whether the guards are breaking the rules. It's like the emperor isn't worried, but the eunuch is."
Yunhe chuckled and scolded, forcefully pulling his hand into her arms. However, she was quite gentle in putting a soft pad on his wrist—after all, his wrist was already bruised, and she didn't want to hurt him further.
After treating the wrists, the same applied to the neck ring. However, the tail and waist were either more severely injured or difficult to alleviate with such a simple method; Yunhe frantically fiddled with the somewhat deformed scales on his waist, when suddenly he heard the mermaid let out a soft cry—
It was a very strange sound, definitely not something a human could make. But you could tell he was in great pain.
"!"
Yunhe recoiled in fright. She saw that Shen Huai'an's fair face had flushed an almost sickly red, as if he had suddenly developed a high fever. She could even clearly see that the beautiful silver-blue cheeks behind his ears were clenching and unclenching violently, like fish thrown onto land to dry up and die.
She glanced again, almost unconsciously, at the spot she had just touched, and her face instantly turned bright red.
Damn it... what a hell place!
...
Finally, everything was sorted out amidst the chaos. Yun was so exhausted she was almost collapsing; even the former researcher who was being "served" couldn't bear to watch anymore.
"Your back is soaked," he said gently. "Go take a shower."
————————————
Twenty minutes later.
Yunhe readily agreed and actually took a quick shower in the small bathroom in the office.
She scolded herself for being so easily swayed, while simultaneously straining her ears to listen to what was happening outside. Whether it was her imagination or not, she thought she heard something strange…
It sounded like singing, but not like a sound a human could make.
By the time she hurriedly dried her hair, changed her clothes, and came out, the singing had already stopped. The mermaid was "sitting" on the platform above the pool in a very uncomfortable position, clutching his throat with his hands—his hands were simultaneously restrained by both handcuffs and chains on the wall, a posture that looked as if he were about to tear his Adam's apple apart.
Moreover, the indicator light in the center of his collar, which had always remained a stable green, turned red and kept flashing.
Yun, barely caring that her hair was still a mess and dripping wet, rushed over! Just then, a terrible knocking sounded from outside: "Researcher Yun, what's wrong inside?!"
It's the Security Department. They're always on guard outside, five people per post. Yun and Ping have no personal relationship with them, only knowing that they don't seem to be human, which is why the research institute uses them for "security."
"It's nothing!" she said loudly as she hurriedly opened the small "hole" in the cage door with her facial recognition. "You must have accidentally bumped into something, right away! We'll take care of it right away!"
Fortunately, just as she finished speaking, the red light slowly went out and then turned a steady green. Shen Huai'an looked like he'd just been pulled from the water; his clothes were soaked with sweat, and he was coughing incessantly, as if he wouldn't stop until he coughed up his lungs. Yun He had originally intended to use her absolute advantage as a researcher to give him a good scolding:
You son of a bitch! Stop causing me all this trouble, okay?!
However, fantasy is fantasy. In reality, she just sighed, her calm demeanor unlike her usual self: "...Does it hurt?"
Despicable! Absolutely despicable! She slapped herself a few times from the bottom of her heart.
She finally understood why he had induced her to take a shower earlier.
"Cough, cough..." Shen Huai'an coughed until his voice was completely hoarse. He struggled to breathe for a while before he managed to gather his strength and smile at the cold-hearted human woman in front of him.
"Feel sorry."
That's the first sentence. The second sentence is: "Thank you."
Yunhe sighed. She truly had no energy left to blame him. After all, his eerie, icy blue eyes were now filled with despair.
Under the constant surveillance cameras, they refrained from saying anything they shouldn't have.
"...Cloud researcher."
Yunhe subconsciously looked up at him.
Shen Huai'an turned his head slightly, a faint metallic sound emanating from him. Beneath his damp, silvery-white hair, his expression was unusually weary: "Give me a pen."
Yunhe hesitated. A pen is considered a "sharp object," and in principle, it shouldn't be provided to any experimental subject—especially S-level subjects. But then, the next sentence dispelled her doubts:
“I need to write a ‘letter’ to the director.” His voice was still somewhat weak: “About something… he wants.”
——————————
She walked into a seven-star seaside hotel in City C.
The hotel lobby was brightly lit. On the third floor, in the banquet hall, celebrities from all walks of life, dressed in elegant attire, mingled and toasted each other. Her strikingly bright red dress fluttered by, releasing a fragrant breeze that drew the attention of many guests.
—The reason is simple.
What an absolute beauty... a breathtakingly beautiful woman!
Along the way, about a dozen high-society figures followed her, trying to strike up a conversation. She ignored all their enthusiastic invitations, appearing graceful and elegant, but in reality, she was straightforward, blunt, and impulsive, barging directly into the banquet hall—
"Bang!"
After a gunshot, everyone fell silent. In the absolute silence, she smiled gently and said softly, "I'm looking for someone."
"ah--!!!"
A group of elegantly dressed ladies screamed in terror. Her scream triggered panic in more and more people, and instantly everyone, regardless of age, gender, or social class, desperately fled!
Unfortunately, before these people even reached the door, something even more terrifying happened:
Those at the forefront froze for a moment, then were torn in two. As the corpses fell in rows, crimson blood gushed forth, forming a river of blood.
"It's so noisy."
The culprit casually withdrew her ice blade, as if those who had died tragically earlier had nothing to do with her. A smile, both ambiguous and cruel, curled onto her beautiful face, and when she spoke again, her voice was shockingly hoarse, a sound that had recently ended puberty—
However, it was clearly a man's voice.
"Who is Wang Dechao? Come out."
The terrified crowd immediately split into two rows, leaving a middle-aged man trembling and clutching his head in the center of the room. "She," stomping her high heels, "teleported" to the man's side amidst the stunned silence of the crowd, her slender, jade-like fingers lifting his flabby chin: "Director Wang, is that right?"
"...You, you, who exactly are you!" Wang Dechao's legs were shaking so badly he could barely stand, but he still stubbornly insisted, "I want, I want, what do I want!"
"I'd like to ask you about someone."
The woman's red lips curved slightly, her high, straight nose, resembling that of a mixed-race person, approached his greasy face, and a breath colder than the north wind swept over her: "Who was the person who provided you with the coordinates of the Western Sea alien habitat?"
"...!"
Wang Dechao first glared with his frog-like eyes, then cold sweat instantly broke out on his back. He hesitated, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in his left leg—
His left leg was literally "cut off" like that!
He didn't even see what did it!
Amidst Wang Dechao's pig-like screams, the "woman" chuckled a few times like silver bells, then pressed on again, "Director Wang, I'll count to three. Three!"
I said!!!
Wang Dechao, who was lying on the ground clutching his broken leg and rolling around in pain, cried and begged for mercy: "I'll tell you!! It's, it's GI...GI Research Institute! I don't know who it is! That person...that person is anonymous...ah!"
The last "Ah" was like a chicken having its neck snapped, ending abruptly. In front of all the celebrities who were already terrified and on the verge of going crazy, the "woman" casually tossed Wang Dechao's head up, caught it, and tossed it again, until the head landed in the crowd kneeling on the ground.
Then……
Ten minutes later, when the police finally arrived, "she" had already vanished without a trace.
—Not even in the surveillance footage, there was no trace left.
