A Perfect Match

A Perfect Match

Qin Nan felt that spending the whole night staking out and capturing a desperate criminal was not as hard as subduing Yu Sheng.

Fortunately, Yaoguang Hospital has a strict confidentiality system for public figures like celebrities, and the VIP channel leads directly to the ward area; otherwise, if that scene had been filmed, it might have caused a huge mess.

Qin Nan dragged the half-dead Yu Sheng upstairs, gripping his arm tightly, afraid that if she let go for even a second, this madman would go on a killing spree.

Yu Sheng leaned against the elevator wall, and Qin Nan peered into her eyes through the reflection in the mirror. If those could still be considered human eyes. Hollow, scattered, like ashes after a fire.

Tap, tap, tap… For some reason, this sound kept lingering in Yu Sheng's mind, rising and falling with his breath without ceasing.

He couldn't see clearly, but it seemed like someone was inserting a scalpel into his eye, carving something into his pupil. Then, the scalpel seemed dissatisfied with the work it was creating and began to randomly scrape and destroy it. He felt some pain but couldn't move.

It's bleeding, all wet and sticky. It must be blood, but I can't tell. Should I stick out my tongue and taste it? It seems unnecessary. It's already in my mouth; it tastes bitter. It's not blood, it's tears.

"Ah Sheng... what happened to your foot?" a voice came through.

"...Hmm?" It doesn't hurt anymore, his eyes are still there, and there are no patterns on his pupils. He's still alive.

"Come here, Ah Sheng, why are you sitting so far away from me?" It was Lu Chenyang's voice.

Is it far? Yu Sheng didn't know. She didn't even know when she arrived in the ward or how long she had been sitting there.

"Ah Sheng, come here, sweetie, let me see what's wrong with your foot," Lu Chenyang said again.

Yu Sheng heard him clearly. He did as he was told, as obedient as a puppet, moving over step by step. He didn't know what was wrong with his feet, but Lu Chenyang had said he should just listen and walk over.

A familiar, large hand held him firmly around the waist, and someone was stroking the back of his head.

Then, his head was pressed onto a broad shoulder. There was a faint smell of disinfectant, and even more familiar, the scent of Lu Chenyang.

“…Lu Chenyang.” Yu Sheng didn’t move, unsure if she had made a sound.

"Yes, I'm here, Ah Sheng, I'm here."

Lu Chenyang's voice drilled into his mind again and again, finally squeezing out the incessant clicking sound. He could finally see clearly.

"Does your foot hurt? How did you hurt it? Please tell me." This was the third time Lu Chenyang had asked.

Yu Sheng looked down blankly at her feet. Her ankles and calves were wrapped in thick gauze, and her white pajama pants and slippers were stained with large patches of red blood.

He felt no pain and didn't remember, honestly answering, "It didn't hurt, I don't know."

Qin Nan, leaning against the window, couldn't bear to watch any longer. She let out a soft snort, whether it was helplessness or sarcasm, "Your young master kicked the glass of the fire cabinet and shattered it."

Lu Chenyang wasn't surprised at all. He cupped Yu Sheng's face in his hands, nose to nose, and asked softly, "Really? Asheng, tell me, why did you do that?"

"I don't know, I don't remember," Yu Sheng obediently shook her head and told the truth.

"It's okay. If you don't remember, then don't think about it." Lu Chenyang pulled him back into his arms, his hands gently stroking his back.

"Alright, alright. Stop being so lovey-dovey. Let's get down to business." Qin Nan was annoyed at being ignored. That night, he had first been ordered to save someone in a critical situation late at night, then captured a crazed wild beast, and now he had to watch these two being all lovey-dovey.

If one of them had just woken up from a coma and the other was mentally unstable, he would have loved to kick them both out the window.

The ward was emptied of doctors and nurses. Lu Chenyang said to Qin Nan, "Nan, hand me my coat from the sofa. Sheng is dressed too lightly and will catch a cold."

"Damn it!" Qin Nan rolled her eyes and threw the clothes at him irritably. "Tell me, ancestor, what happened tonight?"

Lu Chenyang carefully wrapped Yu Sheng in his coat, held her in his arms, and said, "Anan, did you find the black lighter I asked you to find in the private room?"

"Hmm." Qin Nan took out the pure black lighter from his pocket. He hadn't had time to examine it closely in the emergency at the club, but now that he held it in his hand, he noticed something unusual. He frowned and asked, "This... isn't the one I got for you before..."

“Yes.” Lu Chenyang nodded. This lighter is a hidden camera that can connect to a mobile phone or computer for real-time monitoring. It cannot be detected by the naked eye or machine scanning; it is a high-end device specifically designed for undercover investigations and evidence gathering. Qin Nan went to great lengths to get it from his father.

“I turned it on as soon as I entered the private room. I went to the restroom in the middle of the meal, and the lighter was left on the table the whole time…” Lu Chenyang said calmly, as if he was just stating an objective fact. “Then, I looked at the footage on my phone after I left and saw… Chen Yi put something in my glass.”

"So that's when you called me, asking me to come and save the day?" Qin Nan pressed, then suddenly realized, "Wait! You knew he drugged you, so why did you still drink it?!"

“Yes. I have to drink it.” Lu Chenyang felt Yu Sheng’s breathing suddenly become rapid in his arms. He raised his hand and gently and rhythmically patted her trembling and thin back, and continued, “To leave evidence. If I don’t drink it, even if the truth comes out, Chen Yi can deny it. After all, the video alone cannot detect what he added. But it’s different if I drink it. There will be residue in my body.”

“Moreover,” Lu Chenyang paused, pressing his cheek against Yu Sheng’s soft hair, “Yaoguang Hospital’s A-Sheng has influence, and Chen Yi can’t bribe her, so my medical records can be preserved as evidence.”

"Are you fucking crazy?!" Qin Nan was furious, pacing back and forth by the hospital bed, her voice rising, "Lu Chenyang, do you know what happens if you overdose on gamma-hydroxybutyric acid?! You'll die! You'll die!"

The person in his arms trembled violently. Lu Chenyang immediately hugged him tightly with both arms. "I know, I know, but with this evidence, Chen Yi will have no choice but to agree to terminate the contract, and we can avoid a large amount of breach of contract penalties."

In fact, if Lu Chenyang were to submit this evidence to court, he would undoubtedly win. However, how long would the lawsuit last? Months? Or even a year? He didn't have that much time to waste. He couldn't take on new work as long as the contract wasn't terminated. Yu Sheng was waiting for him, and he needed to earn money; he couldn't afford to waste time.

“If Chen Yi tries to drag this out, I’ll go directly to CEO Chen of Tianheng. If this gets out, Tianheng’s stock price will be affected, and CEO Chen will definitely bypass Chen Yi and terminate my contract. So,” Lu Chenyang’s voice was calm and unwavering, as if his life, which he considered his capital, was just a tiny, insignificant stake, “this is a highly profitable deal.”

"You...you..." Qin Nan stammered for a long time without uttering a complete sentence. Angered, she slammed the pure black lighter on the table. "I can't be bothered with you." With that, she walked out.

"Anan," Lu Chenyang called out to him, "Thank you." He spoke sincerely, without any pretense.

"Hmph." Qin Nan snorted heavily and stopped at the door. After a while, she turned around, sighed, and said earnestly, "Chenyang, don't underestimate yourself. If something really happens to you, not to mention others, that madman in your arms will really pick up an axe and go kill people."

The ward fell silent; Qin Nan was gone.

“Ah Sheng”.

Yu Sheng did not react.

"Ah Sheng?" Lu Chenyang stepped back a little, trying to see his face clearly.

There was still no response.

"Ah Sheng, you—"

"Smack—!"

Without warning, Yu Sheng slapped Lu Chenyang hard across the face with all her might.

Lu Chenyang had just had his stomach pumped and was still feeling dizzy. Before he could react, Yu Sheng had already straddled the bed and was tightly gripping his neck with both hands.

Yu Sheng pressed her thumb against his Adam's apple, applying pressure.

The feeling of suffocation gradually spread, and Lu Chenyang couldn't breathe, his face turning purple. He didn't struggle at all, his hands hanging quietly at his sides. "...Ah Sheng, what's wrong? Are you... feeling unwell?"

Yu Sheng remained silent. Lu Chenyang's eyes began to bloodshot. Through his increasingly blurred vision, he quietly gazed into Yu Sheng's eyes. He felt no pain, but he saw suffering in Yu Sheng's eyes, and his heart ached. "Ah Sheng...did I...make you unhappy?...Is that...?"

Lu Chenyang raised his hand and placed it on Yu Sheng's hands that were gripping his neck. Instead of prying them apart, he helped Yu Sheng tighten her grip. "Will this... make you... a little happier?"

“…Lu Chenyang.” Yu Sheng’s voice trembled.

The grip on her neck gradually loosened.

“If you want to die,” Yu Sheng looked down at him, each word grinding between her teeth, “then die by my hand. Don’t give your life to anyone else; they don’t deserve it. Do you understand?”

Before Lu Chenyang could answer, Yu Sheng suddenly grabbed his chin, forcing his mouth open with her thumb and forefinger. Then, a kiss, tinged with blood and a violent, predatory intent, was planted firmly on his lips!

She wrapped her tongue around his and bit down hard until it bled before Yu Sheng felt at ease.

He was terrified. For the first time in his life, he felt an overwhelming urge to kill this man with his own hands. If Lu Chenyang was destined to die, then let him die by his own hand; no one else could take his life.

“Lu Chenyang,” Yu Sheng gasped, her tongue licking the crimson blood that snaked down his lips, “your life is mine! Without my permission, you have no right to risk your life! Do you understand?!”

"My life is only for you to play with," Lu Chenyang said hoarsely, his large hand suddenly pressing down on the back of Yu Sheng's neck, pulling him towards him, sealing all words with a heavy kiss that seemed to devour them both.

"Madman." Yu Sheng gasped for breath during a break in Lu Chenyang's frenzied plundering.

Lu Chenyang pressed his lips against his, his breath hot: "We're both crazy, we're a match made in heaven."

The smell of disinfectant was crushed in the rapid breathing.

Yu Sheng's hand gripped the hem of Lu Chenyang's hospital gown, her knuckles turning white, when her other hand reached out urgently. The neon lights outside the window spilled through the gap in the curtains, flowing down Lu Chenyang's taut jawline like undried bloodstains.

They didn't speak, only the sound of the sheets being violently wrung out. Lu Chenyang turned her over and pinned her down, and Yu Sheng saw the redness welling up in his eyes.

They are both oxygen-deprived fish, and they need to get oxygen from each other's mouths.

Joint to joint, heartbeat to heartbeat, unable to tell whose sweat soaked whose collarbone, only knowing to tighten even more, to embed the other into their own bone joints, becoming the same skeleton.

The beeping of the monitors became erratic, mingling with their disordered breathing. Yu Sheng turned her head; the throbbing pulse on Lu Chenyang's neck was too tempting, as if it wanted to break free of her skin, so she bit down hard.

The moment he tasted the slightly fishy flavor, he was drawn in even deeper. Like a drowning man clinging to driftwood, or like two red-hot irons, determined to be branded into the same shape before they would cool down.

Yu Sheng could feel the pain, but he enjoyed it; he was addicted to it.

The nightmares that once imprisoned him, the cold chains, the pungent smell of blood, the pills stuck in his throat, the electric shocks that destroyed his will—all those deep-seated fears became pale and powerless in the face of the fear of possibly losing Lu Chenyang.

It turns out that under extreme fear, the last shackle that imprisoned the soul... was so fragile.

He's his now. Completely his.

He is his too. From body to soul.

That genuine outburst of emotion from the depths of the soul is a height that even a vile drug like GHB can never reach.

Fear stems from a lack of love. When love permeates every inch of the soul, filling the body to the point of suffocation, everything will quietly melt away, and the last lock on the heart will peel away inch by inch, turning into fireflies, undulating and swirling around the body.

Yu Sheng collapsed into Lu Chenyang's arms, drenched in sweat, panting contentedly, her voice languid and hoarse afterward: "The effects of the drug... are still there?"

"The residue from that drug won't metabolize for more than four hours; it'll be gone by now." Lu Chenyang chuckled, his warm hands gently massaging his waist. "Does it hurt?"

"It hurts." The pain was indeed there, but the overwhelming pleasure had already overwhelmed it. He told the truth, "But I like it."

"sorry."

"Why are you apologizing?" Yu Sheng looked up at him, her eyes still red. "Because you hurt me?"

“Not entirely.” Lu Chenyang lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and then lowered his head to slowly pass the tobacco-scented smoke into Yu Sheng’s mouth.

"I apologize for making you worry, I apologize for making you hurt, and also..."

He reached out, grabbed the coat tossed at the foot of the bed, and pulled out the small blue velvet box from its inner pocket, gently opening it. Inside lay two simple, elegant platinum rings, each set with a delicate, dazzling diamond.

"...Apologize for sleeping with me without confessing my feelings first." Lu Chenyang's gaze locked onto Yu Sheng, with unprecedented seriousness. "Ah Sheng, will you forgive me?"

Yu Sheng's gaze lingered on the two rings for two seconds, then a sly yet captivating smile slowly curved her lips.

He raised his head, his eyes, which had just weathered a storm and were now shining brightly, met Lu Chenyang's deep gaze. He said clearly, word by word, "No."

He moved closer, his breath brushing against Lu Chenyang's lips, "If you don't forgive me, then you'll... owe me for the rest of your life."
