"Oh my god!"
A sudden whooshing sound startled Fu Ming, and Fu Wan instinctively moved to the side. A wave of moisture hit them – it was raining.
Fu Wan looked up and realized that there were actually two fish in front of her.
"Heavens above, where did this fish come from?"
"Haha, they jumped out of the water! So many fish, so many fish!"
Fu Ming was overjoyed. He didn't even have time to pick up the fish on the deck before he threw the hand net out with all his might.
Fu Wan picked up the fish that was still jumping around at her feet. Wow, no wonder she jumped onto the boat, it turned out to be a flower fairy.
The flower mackerel, also known as the flower-bellied mackerel, belongs to the mackerel family and is a phototactic fish that is very sensitive to light.
This fish is somewhat similar to the Spanish mackerel, with a spindle-shaped body, but it is not as long as the Spanish mackerel, with the largest being only a little over forty centimeters.
"Flower Fairy" is the local name for this fish because its belly is covered with sesame-seed-sized gray-black spots, and it also has very distinct dark blue patterns on its back.
Despite its nickname "Flower Fairy," it doesn't have particularly bright and eye-catching colors. The "flower" refers to the many patterns on its body, while the "fairy" is a local dialect term for mackerel.

These fish usually live in groups and mainly feed on small fish and shrimp. As phototactic fish, they may have been jumping onto the boat because the boat was fully loaded and the lights were on while the fish were being sorted.
Su Ran and Su Jianshe had never seen such a scene before. After quickly taking two pictures, they rolled up their sleeves and joined the team throwing the net together.
Seeing everyone so excited, Fu Wan couldn't sit still any longer, so she simply stood up and went to the side of the boat to watch the excitement.
All the hand-thrown nets on the boat were thrown out, and Fu Qing, being clever, even placed two empty fish baskets next to each person pulling the trawl net.
Fu Ming and Ye Lin finally managed to pull up a net, and seeing that each mackerel was at least 20 centimeters long, Fu Ming immediately laughed.
"Haha, that was so much fun! I haven't seen such a big school of fish in ages!"
"Ah Wan, you have no idea. I didn't even look for any fish. As soon as I threw the net out, I knew it was going to burst!"
"Really? There are so many fish?"
"It's true, it's really true!"
Ye Lin nodded in agreement. Su Ran had never seen such a scene before. While she was emptying the fish, she looked at the full fish basket and asked Fu Wan and Fu Ming.
"Hey, there are so many fish, they must be worth a lot of money, right?"
Fu Wan smiled, then shook her head amidst Su Ran's expectant gaze.
"Mackerel isn't expensive, maybe four or five cents at most, but it tastes pretty good. You can braise or steam it. Most importantly, it's very nutritious. Su Ran, take some home and stew it later!"
"Okay!"
Su Ran readily agreed, since she had caught the fish herself and wanted to bring it back for her family to try.
"Low unit price is fine, and high weight is also fine."
Su Ran comforted her, and Fu Wan nodded, agreeing that this was the right estimate; their group should have pulled up at least five or six hundred jin.
Ye Lin was also happy. The fish was cheap, and his mother wouldn't nag him if he took it home to eat. Ever since he went to sea with his family, they had never lacked fish and meat.
Not only have the children in the family grown taller and heavier, but even the adults look much better.
Moreover, no one in the family has been sick in the past six months. Li Chunhua only discovered this a few days ago. After some discussion, they concluded that it was probably because the family's nutrition had improved.
Everyone was busy working hard, and Fu Wan didn't even take a flashlight, instead looking directly at the sea.
The giant white fish hasn't left yet; it's still hunting at sea. With its enormous size, it must eat at least several thousand kilograms of fish in one meal.
I don't know how it found the school of fish, it just circled around a few times, and now it was surrounded by seabirds and schools of fish.
Without the barnacles, Big White visibly became much more energetic. After eating and drinking its fill, it closed its big mouth and began to gurgle and sing.
The sea was quiet, except for the sound of the fishing boat's engine and the sounds of Fu Mingye and the others busy casting their nets.
So when Su Ran heard that gurgling sound, she was very puzzled.
"Listen, what's that sound?!"
"Oh, it's a humpback whale singing."
"What?! Humpback whales can sing?!"
Su Ran was shocked, and after her surprise came a sense of regret.
Oh dear, she brought a camera. It can only take pictures, not record sound. Otherwise, if the sound were recorded, wouldn't the viewers of TV stations and radio stations go crazy?!
Su Jianshe also stopped what he was doing and listened for a while, then looked down and asked Ye Lin and the others who were busy pulling fish off the fishing net:
"When you fish at sea, do you often hear whales singing?"
Ye Lin laughed heartily, "How could that be? To be honest, this is the first time I've heard of it either. We've encountered orcas more often in the past, but this white humpback whale is only the second time I've seen it."
"Why are white humpback whales relatively rare?"
Su Ran chimed in, unable to help it, as she really didn't know much about these fish.
This stumped Ye Lin, but Fu Erlu spoke up instead.
"Humpback whales in the sea are usually black, so this is the first time I've ever seen a white humpback whale."
It's strange, I've never heard anyone mention white humpback whales before!
"What, only black ones are available?"
Su Ran keenly realized that this was a very important news story. She hurriedly turned to look at Fu Wan, but found that she hadn't seen anything.
With no other option, she could only place her hopes on Fu Erlv and Fu Ming and the others once again.
"Brothers, tell me quickly, when was the first time you saw a white humpback whale? Do you know why it's white?"
"Oh, I know that, Wan told me about it..."
While busy at work, Fu Ming straightened his back and began to talk at length to Su Ran and her brother about what he knew about the white humpback whale.
Fu Wan, after putting the towel she used to dry her hair in the cabin, went to the bridge for a walk.
"Ah Wan, come here quickly."
Upon seeing Fu Wan appear, Boss Fu hurriedly greeted her. Seeing the seriousness on Boss Fu's face, Fu Wan also put away her smile.
"Father, what's wrong?"
"You have good eyesight, quickly grab your binoculars and take a look, is there a ship over there?"
Boss Fu pointed to the light in the distance, and Fu Wan picked up the binoculars and took a look.
"It really is true!"
Having received Fu Wan's confirmation, Old Master Fu hurriedly asked, "Is that boat working or doing something else? Can you see clearly?"
He found it strange; the seabirds were making quite a racket, and normally anyone would have noticed the school of fish there.
He waited there for almost half an hour, but the ship didn't seem to have moved at all, which scared Boss Fu so much that he thought it was his imagination.
Upon hearing this, Fu Wan took the binoculars and looked again. The ship was quite a distance away from them, and the magnification of the binoculars was limited, so she could only see the general outline of the ship and could not see what the people on board were doing.
"Wait, something's wrong! Where did the light go?!"
