"Hello, are you sent by Mr. Jin?"
Bai Qianzhou led Fu Wan over, and John, who had been looking around, quickly locked onto Bai Qianzhou who was speaking.
"Hey you guys, Bai, Fu?"
"Yes, that's us."
John opened his arms enthusiastically to Fu Wan, but Bai Qianzhou went to greet him instead.
"Welcome to Florida! Mr. Kim has asked me to be your guide. I hope you have a pleasant journey!"
Fu Wan shook hands with John. John was about the same age as them, and judging from his attire, Fu Wan had only one conclusion.
That's a very green color, it doesn't make you look fair at all.
It actually makes my skin look a bit darker.
John also drove over to pick them up. As they headed to the parking lot, Fu Wan quietly asked Bai Qianzhou, "Who is that Mr. Jin?"
Bai Qianzhou has been in charge of liaison these past two days, and Fu Wan hasn't been involved in these matters.
Upon hearing this, Bai Qianzhou explained to her, "Mr. Jin is the person who contacted us from the camp. However, when he contacted me yesterday, he said he was very busy recently, so he asked John to receive us."
Gold? That's rare.
Since ancient times, Jin has been a rare surname. Fu Wan had received some education and had traveled all over China in the first half of her life, but she had only met a handful of people with the surname Jin.
According to her recollection, after the founding of the People's Republic of China, the people with the surname Jin were either members of ethnic minorities or descendants of the Aisin Gioro clan.
Even in China today, such a person would have no worries about food and drink, so why would he be working for an organization in the United States?
Fu Wan secretly admired this Mr. Jin, whom she had not yet met. Putting aside everything else, if she had such a background, she really couldn't have done this.
John had booked a hotel for them near the sea area they were going to. It was almost ten o'clock when they arrived, and Fu Wan didn't have time to take a good look at the hotel.
"Alright friends, I'll take you to dinner first."
“Okay, John, I’ll do as you say.”
John felt good about being trusted and was in a good mood. He led Fu Wan and Bai Qianzhou into a Western restaurant near the hotel.
The restaurant was nicely decorated, but there weren't many people inside, probably because it was close to closing time.
The three of them were starving after all that fuss. Although Fu Wan and Bai Qianzhou had eaten something on the plane, their stomachs were growling as they smelled the aroma of the steak.
The three of them each ordered a steak and some pasta. To Fu Wan's surprise, the restaurant even had a fruit salad. She asked the waiter to bring her one, just to cleanse her palate after the meal.
After they had eaten and drunk their fill, Bai Qianzhou and Fu Wan went to pay the bill. John had come to help them, so it was impossible for him to treat them.
"Hello, checkout."
Bai Qianzhou went to talk to the person paying the bill, and Fu Wan was stunned when the bill came out.
Three steaks, three pasta dishes, a fruit salad, and a ten-dollar tip, totaling two hundred and twenty dollars!
"No wonder this place is deserted; everyone's been scammed before!"
Fu Wan muttered to herself, "This price could buy a cow in China."
Bai Qianzhou smiled upon hearing this, "Indeed, it's alright, the taste is quite good."
That's true; it's expensive, but the taste is indeed quite good.
After dinner, Bai Qianzhou and Fu Wan returned to the hotel. John gave them some instructions as he drove them there.
"We'll get the permit to go to sea tomorrow morning, and if nothing unexpected happens, we can set sail tomorrow afternoon."
Do we need a fishing license here?
"Fishing license? There are no such things here. If you're skilled enough, you can catch and eat crocodiles too."
? ? ?
Fu Wan could hardly believe her ears, "Eat crocodile?"
John laughed and said, "Madam, I was just joking with you."
Fu Wan was also helpless, but the lack of restrictions was a good thing, at least she didn't have to live in fear.
When John left, he gave Bai Qianzhou a package containing things that Mr. Jin had given them.
Bai Qianzhou and Fu Wan returned to the room and opened it, revealing two brand-new sets of diving equipment inside.
Fu Wan touched her wetsuit, and was about to say that she didn't need it, when she felt that something was wrong with the oxygen tube.
She picked it up and looked at it, then used her fingernail to pull out a rolled-up piece of paper from inside.
Bai Qianzhou was dumbfounded. This is possible?
Fu Wan opened the note, which contained a picture with a five-pointed star in the center and detailed latitude and longitude coordinates noted next to it.
"Bai Qianzhou, quickly bring out the blueprints the camp gave us!"
Bai Qianzhou hurriedly did as instructed, placing the two drawings together, but the latitude and longitude coordinates on them were different.
The two of them were immediately dumbfounded.
"Whose is accurate?"
The oxygen tube was probably prepared by Mr. Jin, while the one at the camp was obtained from Smith.
For some reason, Fu Wan trusted this Mr. Jin, whom she had never met.
"I think this one is more reliable."
"Why?"
"He gave me the feeling of being an underground worker in the organization."
Fu Wan stroked the blueprint, and for some reason, the surname Jin always gave her a sense of déjà vu.
I feel like I've heard that name somewhere before.
What do you think?
Bai Qianzhou shook his head, "I don't know either. Anyway, we have plenty of time, so why don't we all go and take a look!"
The two pictures depict the same sea area, just in different locations.
Fu Wan thought about it and agreed, so she simply put both pictures away.
"That John doesn't seem very bright. Is he trustworthy?"
Their task is to salvage something in another country's waters. If John is unreliable, it would be an invitation to expose their operation.
Bai Qianzhou pondered for a moment, "It should be credible. Mr. Jin said that the US intelligence agency also believed that we were visiting relatives. As for John, he was our tour guide to outsiders."
Fu Wan's activities in Los Angeles to catch big fish had long attracted the attention of relevant departments in the United States. In fact, people had been watching them ever since they entered the country.
However, their actions in the small town clearly demonstrated that these two Chinese people were not short of money at all, and with Mr. Jin's guidance, their trip to Florida was not so conspicuous.
After discussing it this way, Fu Wan felt relieved.
"Okay, then let's take a break!"
After Fu Wan finished speaking, she was about to kick them out. Bai Qianzhou was a little helpless. "John thought we were a couple and booked a room for us."
I asked at the front desk before I left, and there were no rooms available.
? ? !
Fu Wan was speechless. "Do you still think he's reliable?"
Bai Qianzhou touched his nose and said sullenly, "I take it back."
There was only one room, and Fu Wan couldn't let Bai Qianzhou sleep outside.
Fortunately, there was a large sofa in their room. Bai Qianzhou took a pillow and went over to it without Fu Wan offering him one.
It's already quite generous of her to let him sleep in the same room with her; besides, Bai Qianzhou wouldn't agree to give up her bed anyway.
