Fu Liang quickly turned around and forcefully threw the fishing net in his hand.
They brought two types of nets: a regular gillnet and a circular gillnet that Fu Liang had modified himself.
One advantage of circular seine nets is that once the net covers the fish, a rope underneath will quickly tighten when the net is pulled up, thus preventing the fish from escaping.
When Fu Liang pulled up the fishing net, he felt that there were quite a few fish in it. The net was very strong, and he could feel many fish jumping around inside.
"Ah Wan, come quickly and help."
The more he pulled the fishing net up, the harder it became. The veins on Fu Liang's hands were bulging, and he still needed more strength to pull the net up.
Fu Wan quickly grabbed the fishing net and worked together with Fu Liang.
"one two three!"
Both of them used all their strength and finally managed to pull the fishing net onto the boat.
"We've struck it rich! They're all golden pomfret!"
The two men pulled the fishing net ashore and collapsed to the ground. Fu Liang immediately spotted a net full of pomfret with golden edges inside.
Fu Wan glanced at the net full of golden pomfret, feeling a little regretful. She hadn't seen it clearly when she first went down into the water; she had only noticed that there were many fish.
It's a pity it wasn't a white pomfret.
But golden pomfret would be fine too.
Fu Liang was unaware of Fu Wan's thoughts; in his opinion, having caught this net of golden pomfret was already quite good.
Golden pomfret has firm flesh, not as delicate as white pomfret, but it is much larger than white pomfret.
This net contained only a dozen or so golden pomfret, each estimated to weigh around ten pounds.
Fu Wan and Fu Liang cleaned the golden pomfret out of the fishing net and then cast the net back down.
This time, the fishing net wasn't very heavy when it was pulled up, and Fu Liang managed to pull it up all by himself.
Fortunately, there was no air force involved.
Besides two or three golden pomfret, there were also several sea bream in the net.
Seeing that this haul had yielded little result, Fu Wan decided to try her luck at sea again.
"Brother Liang, you go down to the internet cafe, then run around the deserted island. I'll go down and take a look."
After Fu Liang responded, Fu Wan took the net and went into the sea.
She could try her luck with trawling, so she would go down into the wild to catch a few lobsters or something to add to the meal for both families.
The advantage of hunting underwater is that you can catch whatever you want, just like at a buffet.
The downsides are also obvious: most of the fish caught were injured, and the number of lobsters caught was small, just enough for my own consumption.
The seawater was a bit chilly when she went in at night, and Fu Wan rested for two minutes before diving down.
The seabed is more lively at night than during the day, with many lobsters, sea cucumbers, and even moray eels that like to come out at night.
Although the conger eel tasted good, Fu Wan bypassed it because it could bite, and went straight to the lobster cave.
Fortunately, the lobster cave was easy to find. She searched through several coral reefs and found four small green lobsters, each weighing about three or four pounds.
Afterwards, she caught two parrotfish with a harpoon and picked up two or three spider snails before Fu Wan began to surface.
Fu Liang's boat didn't sail very far, mainly because he was afraid Fu Wan wouldn't be able to find it.
Before long, Fu Liang, who was sitting at the bow of the boat looking around, saw Fu Wan return with a full net.
"Little green dragon, parrotfish!"
Fu Liang took the net and took out all the fish inside, putting them into the bucket. "Brother Liang, is there any movement in the net?"
Fu Liang shook his head. "These few golden pomfrets can be exchanged for gas money today."
Fu Wan didn't want to go back just like that. She took out her watch and saw that it was already past eleven o'clock at night.
Just then, there was a "plop" sound, and something fell into the water.
The two looked at each other, and there was no more movement around them, except for the occasional sound of fish jumping out of the water.
What's going on? Is it haunted?
Fu Wan looked around the cabin again before realizing that something was missing.
The little boat's newest member, Brother Fugui, has disappeared!
"This Fugui left without even saying goodbye!" Fu Liang was a little angry, after all, he had fed it half a cornbread.
Fu Wan laughed, "It's just an animal with the intelligence of a child. Maybe it will come back again next time."
Not long after they finished speaking, the two men heard something hitting the bow of the boat from below.
It made a series of "thump thump thump" sounds.
This time, Fu Liang mustered up his courage and went over to take a look, then whispered, "Awan, Fugui is crashing the boat down there."
Fu Wan found it strange, so she went over to take a look and found that it was indeed true.
Fugui saw that both two-legged creatures were looking at it, and its small eyes seemed to reveal satisfaction.
It shook its head, then swam out. After swimming a few steps and finding that the boat was not moving, it swam back and continued to shake its head at the two of them.
"Brother Liang, set sail and follow them."
Fu Wan stared intently at Fu Gui's figure. Sea turtles crawl very slowly on land, but they are much faster in the water.
However, Fu Liang was afraid of going too fast, so Fu Gui kept turning his head to check if the boat was keeping up as he swam.
After swimming for more than ten minutes, Fugui stopped swimming.
Fu Wan suddenly understood its meaning, picked up the round net from before, and threw it away violently.
The large net, like a gaping mouth, rushed swiftly into the seabed.
Within two minutes, she felt the net in her hands become heavy.
"Brother Liang, come quick!"
Fu Wan shouted as she pulled the fishing net up with all her might.
Fu Liang had already run from the driver's seat to the stern at top speed, and the two of them seemed to be back in the state they were in a few hours earlier: "One! Two! Three!"
As soon as they uttered the word "three," the two gritted their teeth and used their last bit of strength to pull the fishing net onto the boat.
"These...these are all pomfret!"
Fu Liang's voice trembled as the fish in the net were still jumping and wriggling on the deck.
Now I truly have no regrets.
I don't feel tired anymore.
The two of them immediately became incredibly energetic and cast their nets twice more, each time filling the nets to the brim with fish.
When all three nets they brought were full, Fu Liang and Fu Wan exchanged a wry smile, unsure if there were any more fish below, and had no choice but to give up.
Just then, another series of thuds came from below the boat. Fu Wan, who was sitting not far from the stern, leaned out to look.
Yet, wealth and honor collide with the ship's hull.
Its two forelimbs were still desperately scratching, trying to climb up.
Fu Wan quickly threw the fish in her hand into the bucket, and then reached out to scoop up Fu Gui.
Once the fish was hauled onto the boat, it didn't hold back and immediately climbed to the edge of the bucket to start biting the smaller white pomfret.
"This sea turtle actually eats pomfret?"
Fu Wan and Fu Liang found it strange. They knew that this species ate seaweed, snails, small fish, and shrimp, but they didn't expect that the white pomfret would also like to eat them.
Fugui ignored the two two-legged creatures staring at him. After finishing the palm-sized white pomfret bite by bite, he crawled to the side, closed his little eyes, and stopped paying attention to the commotion outside.
"Sea turtles are the best; they can stay wherever they go."
Fu Liang was extremely envious; one person can eat their fill and the whole family isn't hungry. Unlike them, humans, who have to resign themselves to their fate and keep struggling.
